    I have an HP 8540W.
    Windows 7 64 bit Ent
    16 GB RAM
    Core I7 Processor
    Nvidia Quadro FX 1800M

Whenever my laptop display goes to sleep I can't turn it back on. Note, the laptop is still awake and all lights on keyboard work correctly.

The only way to recover from this appears to be to Force power off and then power back on.

    Any help appreciated.

Do you have the newest BIOS installed?

Some 8740w owners were having this problem. I thought it was fixed in a BIOS update, though I cold be wrong about that. Hopefully one of them will see this. You can also try searching the thread (but it is very large).
