G2 has been around since Sep 2013. With Skylake here now and the new chipset that can do PCIe 3.0, it would be a nice upgrade. Has anyone heard anything about a G3?

Curious to see if they drop the optical drive too like everyone else and shave off the weight/thickness.

Probably some announcement soon, they refreshed the ProBook to G3 recently so I figure it's a tight-lipped kind of deal. Doubt they'll sit around giving away sales to Lenovo or Dell.

I hope they keep the Dreamcolor option in the 17" or some other wide gamut 30-bit display at least as good (without the tints in the lower corners) but increase the resolution to 4K.

I have been looking for news on these too; nothing has been announced or rumored. Given Lenovo and Dell are launching their mobile workstations later in Q4 (Dec), that's when I'm expecting to see an announcement.

Good find. Some interesting configuration options. I wonder if the "studio" model showing up in other searches will replace the "ultrabook" models or if that's something else entirely.

I hate when they remove the DVD.

I want my multiple hard drives, no compromises.
