    I recently obtained a Zbook 15 G3. with a FHD panel.

Not with the IPS panel, but the with the standard one which is not that bad but also not good if you are using the laptop outside the docking station.

I found out that the specific laptop is coming with an IPS 4K UHD Dreamcolor panel.

Checked with HP but the specific panel is sold as an assembly only (not possible to buy the raw panel).

Checked for compatible $K UHD panels in the market and the ones that I am able to find have a 40 pin edp connector (panel side)

The specific laptop equipped with a FHD (1920x1080) panel has a 30 pin edp connector.

Can someone answer the following questions:

    1. Are existing in the market 15.6 slim panels IPS UHD 4K with 30pins edp connectors (lower right side)?
    2. If Yes can he /she posts some panel models?
    3. If they are not existing then can someone give the HP part number of the cable that has to be changed in order to connect a 40pin edf panel

Part numbers are available since I have found the service manual but unfortunately no sub assembly part numbers are given for the UHD screen

I did some research. Here below are the results.

    1. I managed to find the cable that is used by HP in ZBOOK15 G3 (equipped with the UHD screen). It was quite difficult since this is not coming as an independent spare part (described in the HP part surfer). The connector to the screen is a 40 pins EDP as per here below photo It has been photographed against a ruler so as to have the exact dimensions. It is 15.5mm

    2. The existing cable Used for the FHD screen has a 30 pins EDP connector as per here below photo, which is slightly shorter. It is 13.5mm

    3. A comparison of those two connectors is given in the here below photo 40pin EDP connector vs 30pin EDP

    4. I found in the market a UHD screen that is named 40pin EDP and aimed for Lenovo Laptops. The connector is different than the one have above, It is a 40 pins but it is wider (different pitch). The comparison in shown in the here below photo

    5. Now the question. Does any one know a UHD 15.6 slim panel (maker and model) that has a 40pin EDP connector that fits the connector shown in above photo 1?
Can you please post the details?

    6. I have checked in the " http://www.panelook.com/" for 15.6' UHD slim panels, but although are named all 40pins EDP it is not specified the width (or pitch).

    Thanks

Almyroudis, thanks for posting your findings.

I got a Zbook 15u G3 myself which a FHD display originally, got a UHD display off eBay supposedly compatible with mine but obviously it has the 40 PIN connector.
The service manuals do not specify as you say any different cabling between different versions, even on HP partsurfer there is no difference.
However, there is a difference to the display enclosure.

My question would be if the display enclosure includes the display cable for the UHD perhaps. Or even if the HP original part has a 40 PIN eDP configuration.

Will update this thread if I find something valuable.

    Answers to your above question(s):

    1. From my research up to now HP supply the complete assembly (screen panel, antennas, cables, hinges) (at a very high price) for all UHD screens
    2. As of now, It is not possible to find in the market a raw panel that comes together with the cable that fits the the Zbook15 G3 (Zbook15 G3 is different than the Zbook15U G3 and Zbook15 studio G3)
    3. All UHD panels are coming with 40pins EDP connectors, but there are two types of 40 pins EDP connectors with different pitch.
    4. Enhancing the discussion and going further, I found that the majority of UHD panels are having 40 pins EDP connectors with 0.5 mm pitch, while some very few are having 40 pins EDP with pitch 0.4mm
    5. Most probably raw panels that one that fit our HP Zbooks are the ones with connector 40pins EDP with 0.4mm pitch (is to be confirmed)
    6. Another issue is the supporting lugs to the screen should be on the upper and lower frame (not at the side).
    7. The screen that fits the Zbook15 G3 should have a female connector that (it is 40pins EDP) as per below photo, which looks like a 0.4mm pitch

    8. What is the type panel you have obtained?

Thanks for the info. Got myself a LTN156FL03-B01. However, I should have checked this better. Knew from all the earlier Elitebooks that getting a 40 pin display its a god damned nightmare..
Will do some more research in a few days, my hopes are low to get this display working. Perhaps not worth it, not super-impressed by the 15u G3 regardless, the i7-6500U is garbage.
