Does anyone have a high frequency buzzing sound coming from their dreamcolor screen? When the backlight is off it stops. It could also happen in Elitebook 17 inch screens. It's very annoying.

I returned two 17 g2 laptops because of intermittent screen flicker and buzzing. From what I read the buzzing is a known issue with the 17" Dreamcolor panel. What video card do you have? FirePro?

Yes the gpu is a Firepro m6100. Does ia have anything to do with the gpu? The sound is extremely annoying and stressful.

Does the buzzing sound happen on all Dreamcolor screens and is it hardware related meaning parts have to be replaced or i it something that can be fixed by software?

HP actually has documented the screen issues were associated with the Nvidia Quadro cards and released fixes for it. (from what I read it didn't resolve it completely)

The two Zbooks I returned both had the FirePro m6100 cards and dreamcolor. I also had the buzzing (not that bad) but my screen would have a really fast flicker intermittently. I was going to re-order but all the new models are coming out now so I will just wait. Right now I am leaning towards the new Dell 7710 and maybe the HP Zbook G3.

I also have a screen flicker, not often though but I do notice it sometimes. I just assumed it's a driver issue that will be fixed by an update later on.

It did it on Win 8 and Win 10 for me. Probably not a driver issue IMO. You paid big money for that laptop. If you are able to return it, I would.

In my case it's WIndows 7 and it's just a fraction of a second but very rarely. Makes me think it's not a hardware problem. I have hp care pack and I will request service if it's really an issue for me.

Regarding the new G3 laptops, don't know if you know this but they say the Dreamcolor 4K screens will be available 1st half of 2016. I think they would be worth waiting for especially with all the new features they will have.

How often does this screen flickering occur? Multiple times every hour or less frequent than that? I'll have to take a close look at my new screen to see if it has this issue.

Not every hour. I haven't measured the interval between flickering. It's more like a tearing than a flickering and it lasts for a fraction of a second.
