    hey guys, i have a compaq 6730b product number kr973ua serial number cnu9362vmd. the computer has a bios startup password. we have tried to boot up cd's etc but none works. it will not even allow us in to the bios setup is there a way to get around that???? any help is appreciated.....

    Follow the steps given at Forgotten BIOS password on EliteBook 6930p. If no go then contact HP. They have a process that they can talk you through to clear the existing password by using a master password.

    will that work even if it will not boot to a cd?

    Yes. It won't boot to CD because it's likely disabled in the BIOS so you have a catch 22 situation. Try the above suggestions.
