Hello, I own an elitebook 8540w:

    Windows 7 professional 64 bit
    NVIDIA QUADRO FX 1800M
    RAM: 8 Gb

I have noticed some daily hang up - lasting about 30 seconds: the only thing that seemed to work was the mouse pointer.
From the event viewer I see so many events like this:

Attached are the lines of the event viewer of those events.

    Fix it please.

    Thank you.

Device 8086:d138 is the Clarksfield/Lynnfield PCI Express Root Port 1 which hosts your NVIDIA QUADRO FX 1800M video card. Likely there's some problem with it.

First thing would be to ensure you've got the last Win7 updates loaded, newest 8540W bios and latest Quadro drivers.

If problem persists then contact HP for a in-warranty fix.

Thank you for your quick reply; all has been updated here before this post.

That is another sign of attestation of a long lasting NVIDIA driver instability issue! ONE YEAR WITHOUT A STABLE DRIVER!

Could try the just-released 270.61 Verde (standard mobile) driver available here. Download the Nando4 nvam.inf, search for 'nando4' and add the ID of your FX1800M in those three places. Then run setup.

That issue started to happen after some time I installed the 270.61 driver!

Same issue even after having upgraded to the latest INTEL Chipset:
    Intel® 6, 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets 9.2.0.1030

If there are anti-lemon laws in the US and HP have made a number attempts to fix the problem without a solution then could seek a refund or replacement. The new 8560W will surely fix this issue :D

    I have simular specs
    8540w with 1920x1080 screen
    160 GB intel x25m disk
    500 GB upgrade bay
    12 GB ram
    Win 7 Pro 64 bit
    Nvidia Quadro FX1800

Drivers, BIOS's etc all up to date, and I'm getting spammed with this log aswell. HP are simply giving me (the laptop is operational and this is not a hardware failure, however the event says otherwise) and do nothing about the issue (from the start of the portable, around 1 year old now).

Im fed up with this piece of at the moment...
