    i bought a second hand laptop just for basic internet use, its a hp/compaq nc6120 im trying to install a fresh version of xp on it but for some reason it wont let my install by disc ??
    ive tried setting it to run through optical drive 1st but it does'nt even attempt to run off the dvd and i have tried making it run from flash drive but it wont entertain that either.
    any help please ???

    Is this XP with Sp1 on it, or really old?. Pre SP1 XP installs required some drivers off floppies first. well did for my old desktop computers way back then.
    yes I know your laptop doesn't have a floppy drive!
