Hey everybody. So I have a Elitebook 8540w and would like to be able to reprogram those quick-launch buttons...

I'm just wondering what in the heck is the point of the Quick Launch buttons software and why it's on my computer?? What is a Q-Menu and what's the point of that too???

Here I'll take a screenshot of the program:

I am not sure what you are able to do with your version of that software.

Normally the software controls the quick launch buttons, these are the soft buttons above the keyboard. You have a few which are fixed, for example

    Mute
    Volume Up
    Volume Down
    Launch Calculator
    WLAN On/Off

    and so on

Also you can assign the Info button (at least in my version, W XP) to launch a specific program (normally the HP Info Center).

And last but not least the Quick Launch Button itself (or presentation button) which normally launches the Q-Menu which you can configure with that application in your screen shot. The Q-Menu allows easy control of a few functions.

Does this help? Because this is based on my version and may differ from yours... (Windows XP). Mine sure looks a little different...
