    Hello everyone,

I am about to order a HP 8560w and because this is the first time i order something that big over the internet, i feel so worried.

After i configured the model, i chatted with a rep and he offered me some more discount. Problem was, due to him, the discount he offered, he couldn't add it to my online shopping cart. So, in order to check out with the discounted price, i need to go through his steps, which he sent me a form so that i would type in the shipping information. However, it didn't work (don't know why). So he asked if he could call me so that i will tell him my cc number. But i am wondering, should i tell him my credit card number? I don't feel comfortable!

What do you think? Have you ever been in the same situation?

I would never give out that information. Wait until they get the system fixed, and then come back.

Same thing happened to me, except it was with Dell. I didn't give the rep my credit card number, but he promised to get in touch with me so I could check out online. Well, I never heard from him again. :p

I'm not surprised that your rep was unable to enter your discounts online; that seems to be pretty typical. As for your cc #, well, your choices are paranoia or carelessness! :D

    Thank you for your replies,

After refusing giving him my cc#, he said some1 will give me a quote. And yes, i got a quote from Madrid, Betty. They asked me what way i want to process. Hmm, i dont know. I want them to make a cart for me online so that i can check out online. But the HP - United States | Laptop Computers, Desktops, Printers, Servers and more is so weird. I just realize that we have to use different accounts for the home and business line. Also, when i entered the small and medium business page, there is no way i can log in my account!

Just give him your CC#. It's a credit card. In the unlikely event that the rep is shady and steals the number, you can always dispute the charges. These days, it may be just as safe to give the number over the phone to a rep vs. online. Websites get hacked all the time.

Maybe... but if an e-commerce website follows the usual standards of security and encrypts/forgets the numbers after a transaction, I'd much rather deal with a website than a person with that sort of information.

Plus, it can be difficult to dispute charges. It takes time.
