@JJB:
2-finger-scrolling does still work after returning to Windows from sleep mode on my computer.
-
-
Well I just did a system restore and reverted back to 15.0.09 touchpad driver which was working perfectly for me (and is again). I could not get the .13 version to work with 2 finger scroll after waking from sleep, I tried all 4 versions of the driver and even uninstalled all synaptics drivers and reinstalled just the new one, still would not work after waking. All I can think of that could be different from normal win7 system settings is that I have completely disabled the hibernation feature with a command line flag, maybe this is causing the problem for me?? Anyway all back to working normally now...
-
@jjb
good to know. Looks like i'll be sticking with my current driver -
My touchpad is running 15.0.13.3, ID is *SYN1E0D and ACPI/SYN1E0D on my first gen Envy 15 (1066NT I think...) with i7 720QM.
-
-
Any ideas why my 2 finger scroll would not function after waking from sleep ??
@Serg
The models that have device ID SYN1E24 have only a 'double tap' method to turn the pad off and on (which does not work to re-enable with the newer drivers), the settings do not even offer the 'time' setting that my first i7 model had. In other words no way to adjust or use a 'push and hold' feature to disable... There is also a third device ID number not I am not sure how that one works....
And the 'power management' option you mention is not checked, it is actually greyed out so it couldn't be checked if I wanted to. -
Well, they certainly haven't fixed the crappy wifi connection stability. I have never experienced something like this before.
The computer randomly either completely drops the connection and is afterwards not able to find any wireless network even though there are lots in my area. Sometimes though it just drops the internet connection but stays on the network. The small yellow triangle appears.
Has anybody else experienced this? I'm beginning to think this is a hardware issue because no change in settings seems to help. To get it to connect again i have to either restart or disable and then enable the wifi-card in the device manager. -
@humbeby(dk)
I had a similar issue while trying to get my bluetooth to work when messing with my drivers. Try uninstalling the driver then going into the swsetup folder and find the wifi driver (the latest one will be in the folder named SP48482). There are two files named "DPInst32" and "DPInt64". Install whichever version depending on if you have 64 bit or 32 bit windows. After that run the iProdifx file. -
@stefen
Thank you for the tip. I have now tried the method you described. Looking forward to see if it fixes the problem.
+rep for you
EDIT: Damn, it didn't work. The wifi connection has now been dropped about 6-7 times in the last two hours. Can it be that my Apple Airport Express, which i'm using as a wireless bridge is incompatible with the 6200 wireless card? -
-
Me too on wireless issues.
As I understand it my Netgear router WNDR3500 has an Atheros chipset. My other laptop has an Atheros Wifi card and it's a solid performer with that router. It would be interesting to try with an Intel-based router but I don't have any. -
-
Funny you mention the large file transfers, i'm not seeing a particular pattern with this issue. I stream content (music/video) wirelessly from a QNAP NAS server and the Envy often just drops the connection when i'm doing that, but also sometimes when the connection is idle.
Other people mentioned the fluctuation in connection speeds, which i'm also seeing (19Mbps to 144Mbps). My old Pavilion DV9300 is solid as a rock in that aspect on the same network and placed next to the Envy.
If i keep having trouble with this i have another wireless N router to try out. -
Wow BIOS F26A runs a lot cooler than F24A on idle. Handrest is almost cool to the touch, quite a difference.
-
-
But my luck is probably over and not risking bricking as I have updated twice with no problems. -
-
Well I just successfully flashed f .26 from f .24. The temps at idle seem to be about 5C cooler on the cpu core #0 (30C) and the same on core #2 (22C). The GPU didn't seem to change and idles at ~ 39C. These temps are all warmer than the old F 18, which idled at 25C, 18C, 33C.
Here is a screen of an Everest 100% CPU stability test and a Furmark GPU (OC 625/1125) stability test ran at the same time (default furmark settings and 20 min run), the max temps seem lower overall but the fans definately kicked up to a higher max rpm than before...
-
Zero issues. Not sure about the fans, I live in a metropolitan area so it's never quiet here.
Webcam is also working again, not sure why it disappeared for a while, could have been F24A, and color balance is much better - less pink when lighting is from screen only in a dark room.
Update: One issue. I had a wifi glitch this morning had to restart the router. Not sure if the BIOS update could be blamed for that.

Don't know whether this has been asked before.... but does the synaptics driver come with scrybe?

FYI the following have been updated
Intel Rapid Storage v9.6.2.1001
Intel Chipset v9.1.2.1007 -
Intel Rapid Storage v9.6.2.1001 <--- Not official yet
Intel Chipset v9.1.2.1007 <--- For desktop boards -
I'm currently trying to catch up on the updates! -
The F26A runs a lot hotter IMHO. I am idling above the 50s...where I used to idle at mid 40s with F.17A (I think that was the one I used to have). Although weather is a lot warmer too...^_^
-
roll back the drivers to when it worked and hope for a new release perhaps?
-
Small correction to the listing - I think the latest BIOS is called "F.26 A", not "F.26".
-Lars -
I apologize for updating late -- this week was very busy apparently.
05/23/2010
- Updated MediaSmart SmartMenu to version 3.1.1.12 (3.2 A10) for Windows 7.
- Updated MediaSmart DVD to version 4.0.3822 (3.2 A13) for Windows 7.
- Added MediaSmart Music version 4.0.3903 (3.2 A13) for Windows 7.
- Added MediaSmart Video version 4.0.4007 (3.2 A15) for Windows 7.
05/25/2010
- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.1.2.1007.
-
FYI; I just installed the new chipset driver and as far as I can tell there are no driver version changes in any of my CPU related drivers. Everything still shows as version 9.1.1.1022 even though the driver package (with -overall command) seemed to install properly and even asked for a restart.... Maybe no changes on the i5's ??
-
Just posted 2 new Glossy 1080P color profiles on the gen 2 thread; HERE
-
Broadcom WiFi v5.100.9.141 is the newest

ATI Updated their Catalyst Driver to 10.5.
Just thought you should know... -
-
How are those 10.5? I think I am downloading them now, since I just came across them via Fudzilla.
EDIT: here's the link BTW http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx -
@serg
Just installed the 10.5 WHQL version from the main ATI site. ATI really needs to get there act together, Grrrrr.... The main install went fine (after uninstalling all AMD and using driver cleaner) then I had to download and install both Hydravision and Avivo seperately, which the intaller claims installed succefully, but no control option are showing for either feature (except video converter) in CCC. Reinstalled manually and same issue, no control options...
Also just noticed no HDMI drivers installed with this version, Double GRRRRR....
I was using the 10.5 beta version and with that one it was a single install package, chose 'express' install and all features loaded completely (with HDMI) and full CCC controls...
I may switch back, the only thing I see different in this one is it now shows that it is WHQL, so Adobe CS4 recognizes it and allows OpenGL functionality, and it appears that it fully supports all OpenGL up to 4.0 at 100% compatibility.... -
hmmm what is it with ATI and not-finished-drivers??
I will install them later on and report back on how it went. I am running 10.3 right now (playing safely). -
Yeah, you would think if the Beta 10.5 version installed all options/features in a single package correctly then the final version should be just as easy....
Anyway, it seems stable so far and I don't have time to mess with reverting back to the Beta right now, I will report back if I have any issues worth posting... -
How come when i try to download from the HP FTP site it says cannot connect?
EDIT: Nevermind, it was my proxy blocking it. -
WELL...darn...spent 4 hours trying to figure out why HDMI wasn't working, so the drivers aren't even in the Catalyst 10.5 package? Now THAT's a big 'duh' . What are we supposed to do? Jeez....
Seer -
What you could try to do is install the HDMI audio driver from the 8.712.0.0 package that I have posted and then install the 10.5 graphics driver . Or if all else fails, you can just simply use both the graphics and HDMI driver from the 8.712.0.0 package. -
IMPORTANT: A new BIOS release is now available from HP for all Envy 15 notebooks. If you haven't already, please make sure you read the Important Information section before flashing. The fix, mentioned in documentation, is mainly directed at first generation Envy 15 notebooks. (However, this update works on notebooks with the 5730 and 5830 graphics cards as well.)
06/02/2010
- Updated BIOS to version F.28.
- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.0.17.0.
BIOS release documentation notes:
-
The new synaptics driver still does not fix the double tap to disable/enable problem. meh
-
I actually got horrible performance with the 10.5 package. The 8.712 alpha release has been more stable and faster.
-
Well, I installed the F.28 bios on my Gen 1 and lost hundreds of points in my 3dmark score. My suspicions regarding their 'solution' were confirmed, the most obvious change they've made is to downclock the gpu, to 399/699.
However, when i moved my clocks back up to my favored game settings, I GAINED 3dmarks, up to just under 9300. For general use, the lowered clocks don't seem to hurt anything, probably saves some mwatts and 9300 isn't bad for a laptop 4830.

I won't take the chance of updating the BIOS this time around. Final exams are 4 days away and i can't risk bricking my computer before that.
Please post your experiences with the new BIOS.
On another note, i have been having problems with unstable wifi connections on my Envy, which seems to have been solved by changing the network channel to a higher value instead of the standard 1. Speed still sucks, though. -
Just updated BIOS. I suggest not to.
HP has locked down the multiplier to x11 instead of x12 and maximum TDP of 36.5 constantly instead of my maximum 45W on my i7 720QM.
Machine seems as fast, but with slower multipliers heavy tasks will be hurt on performance.
I've been testing with wPrime 32M and monitoring using CPU-Z, CoreTemp, the Task Manager and HWMonitor at the same time, and the CPU is unable to reach 1.6GHz (base speed) on full load on all cores, instead I am getting 1.463GHz. -
@Serg
With F28 I get x12.5 multiplier on full load over all eight logical cpus, TDP mostly 45W, occasional spike up to 55W. My test run was 5+ minutes. -
Updated BIOS to latest; did not notice difference in temps although boot time has been reduced.
-
I'll do a render right now, report back how it goes, still running the same BIOS...now reports a max 55W TDP....
