I was wondering if anyone could point me to the USB 3.0 drivers for the envy g2 laptop.

I don't believe my set has the 3.0 drivers.
my system was an i5 with no USB 3.0. -
HP is worthless when trying to find answers to drivers they don't have up on their website yet. I did a fresh copy of windows 7 and have everything up and running, just can't get my usb to work. I didn't find the USB drivers in the swsetup location.
-
swsetup/drivers will have everything you need for your system.
Did you back it up? -
I am going to have to use the recovery discs to get it back to the original state to get at the original swsetup/drivers folder, before I do that are they for sure going to be there?
-
i back them up on my flashdrive
and my flashdrive die before i use those drivers... -
I've updated the original post with some updates.
Listed below are the most recent changes:
01/29/2010
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6255.0.
- Updated Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader driver to version 6.1.7600.30111.
01/31/2010
- Merged HP MediaSmart products into one table.
02/02/2010
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6263.0 (thanks lovegl).
I'm currently aware of the Envy 15-1100 original driver pack that's floating around -- taking a look at it, the ATI graphics driver included supports both the ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4830 and the ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5830 but does not seem to have a designated Softpaq number (dated 11/23/2009, version 8.670.5.1000). This tells me that HP isn't going to be releasing to the web an ATI driver specifically supporting the 5830 anytime soon, which is disappointing. However, it might happen...eventually. -
They better put a driver page up, or regular users are going to be returning sytems.

The latest Synaptics Touchpad drivers v14.0.13.1 posted here are missing several options that are included with the original Original version on the Envy such as tap zones.
-
EDIT: I think that we no longer have tap zones because the updated synaptics software wasn't meant for the envy. In the original html relase info for the 0.12 version, it includes Envy 13 & 15 support but not in the newer two versions. The laptops that newer software was made for have physical buttons so touch zones aren't necessary, which is why it was left off. -

Sorry can anyone help me with this issue ?
I have an envy with core i7 1.6 and Ati 5830 in it.
Yesterday my cousin accidentally convert the whole disk to dynamic. Then I have to re-format everything backs to normal(but my data and recovery partition is gone, too).
Now I want to set up another win 7 version. But it keeps telling me that I do not have the driver for sata right after the install button(can't see any partition to choose). I'm really stuck here.
I already tried setup from external DVD reader, USB, ghost...Help me, pls.

I just received my new Envy15 with i7-720 cpu. it seems that the most recent BIOS is version F.07A....but I have F.17 (confirmed with HP support). can anyone else confirm what BIOS they have if a similar system? HP is at a loss as to where this BIOS came from and why the version number is higher than what is supposed to be shipping with the unit. Thanks for any help.
-
F.07 is the bios for the 1st gen envy -
Could anyone upload the usb 3.0 driver, pls ?
-
I used this driver and it works great;

Thanks, is anybody has the rest of the swsetup besides drivers.(things like HP quick web...)
-
How can I scroll my mouse ?

I tried downloading the audio drivers, and it simply messed my bass and meds...and left me with some crappy highs giving me errors...

Just found this thread, most appreciated & many thanks. Interesting that the Gen2 Envy 15's are shipping with much older drivers in some cases. For example when I pull up synaptic from the tray it says the installed version on my new Envy is only 7.4 and it appears the latest is up in the 14's.
Couple of quick questions:
1. I notice most of the drivers are exe's. With the drivers that are newer do we just download and run the exe to update or do we need to extract them and then manually install thru device manager?
2. I see at least one where its a cab and the instructions say to use device manager but I've never done an install using a cab file. Will device manager simply be able to handle them or is there a trick to it.
3. And one last thing, I see an intel chipset download. How can we tell ahead of time if we already have the newest one installed or not?
Sorry if some of these questions seem dumb but life is full of learning lessons. I have learned the hard way that the only really stupid questions are the ones you don't ask -
I noticed on the 1st page it talks about using AHCI even if not using SSD's. How can I tell which mode my HD in the Envy is running? If I go to Device manager it shows:
"Intel (R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E/PCHM SATA RAID Controller"
I run my desktop in AHCI mode as I have several drives but not sure how to tell what the Envy is running as right now. If its not already running in AHCI mode will it be difficult to switch and do I want to?
Also I see the driver for the Webcam IR but can't figure where to look in device manager to see which version is currently installed. I found one entry for a plain "HP Webcam" under imaging devices & under sensors one called "Light Sensor" which I assume is for the screen auto-adjust feature. -
2. For files in CAB format, you will have to extract them to somewhere and use the Update Driver wizard in the Device Manager. In the Update Driver wizard, it will ask where you would like to search for the new (extracted) driver files. Point to this path, and the wizard should automatically find the INF file and handle the rest of the installation.
3. It's pretty difficult to tell which version of the Intel Chipset Device Software is currently installed if you don't know -- the package version is what's listed. If you're unsure of the version currently installed, just run the newest version and it will install/update as necessary. -
Hi All,
This is my first post on this forum. I recently got a refresh Envy 15. It is an Australian model with USB3, 5830 GPU, 1920X1080 screen, 8G ram, i7-820, 640G HD.
I decided to do a clean install. First I used a product key grabber to get my Windows 7 key. I then downloaded the ISO for windows 7 Home Premium 64. At first I was having trouble getting the Windows disk to install using the portable DVD drive, but I found out that this is because I was using the USB3 to connect it. I conncted the eSATA USB2 port, and that fixed that up.
So I repartitioned for one partition for the whole HD, and installed Win 7. This went fairly smooth, but as expected, there was a bunch of driver missing. I mainly used this thread for drivers. Mainly the drivers in the first post, but also the USB driver from post 70, and the GPU driver from strags.com. The blue tooth driver took a few attempts to take, but eventually did. SO now my system has no outstanding drivers, and seems to be working fine.
The only issue I had was with the turbo boost driver. For me it simply would not install. On attempting to install it comes up with a message that says my system does not meet the requirements for the driver. It does not even install. I have no idea what this driver does and whether it is required or what benefits it offers. I also have no idea why it would not work on my system. If anyone has had the same issue and solved it, I would appreciate any advice.
BTW... I have not installed all the software ont eh first thread... only drivers. The reason I was reinstalling was to get rid of the blatware, so I have only installed the drivers required to get the hardware functioning as it should, and have not installed the other stuff.
Cheers,
Adrian -
The turbo boost shouldn't be required... I believe that's a failed Intel marketing thing, using a flash disk as a fast-ish cache.

New driver for the cardreader i think...

Just a further addition to help others doing the same as me.
I did not realise I had not activated Windows 7 (being new to it and mainly XP experience). I did not see the thread about fresh installing Win 7 and backing up the activation certificate. I also did not realise the product ket was in the battery compartment. So I used a product key grabber application to get the product key off my laptop. Unfortuantely this ket could not be activated, but it was good enough to allow the install to take place. So I then found the product key sticker and attempted activation with that key. It would not activate over the internet, and said I need to use automated system over phone. I tried this and it failed, so I got put through to an operator, and they were able to do the activation and provide the confirmation and it is now activated. This was for installing Win 7 home premium 64 which is the same as the version on product key sticker.

The first post hasn't been updated for a while, but now it has.
The most important item is that a new BIOS update is out for Envy 15 users (especially for the early adopters, which should bring you up to speed with those who have bought the newer revision). In fact, the main highlight for this BIOS release is that it updates the ATI Radeon VBIOS!
Make sure you read the Important Information section before proceeding to update the BIOS image.

hello...I need the USB 3.0 driver and my TurboBoast install will not install,
thanks in advance -
You don't need that TurboBoast crap. -
-
If you can't find em I can try to rapidshare a zip of my USB folder.
-
Nec USB 3.0 driver and Bios F.18A is on HP Envy 15-1190 driver page.
-
-
Thank you justinkw1, for your work on this great driver page!

All right, here are the updates that I made to the original post.
First thing to point out: I removed the Intel Turbo Boost Technology driver due to most people having issues with it (I may repost it in the future depending on whether or not the issues are resolved).
Second thing to point out: BIOS release F.18 A is now available! This once again updates the ATI Radeon VBIOS and also reduces fan noise during startup.
Third thing to point out: the NEC USB 3.0 Controller driver is now posted. This driver is only for the 11xx refresh series and not for the original Envy 15 models.

By boots at 500 you mean it will go to 500 while gaming or if needed? or when you physically boot the laptop?
At 405MHz the 5830 is almost 20% underclocked. -

Not sure what that means then... If was to pull out a new laptop and update the bios would I be gaming at 405 or 500?
