You can verify driver installation by going into the Device Manager. Under Network Connections, double-click the Intel WiFi Link device. In the device's properties, select the Driver tab and check the version number.

Having problems with the BIOS update
I run the app, and its start up fine, asking me am i sure i want to update ect, then when i hit okay its says "Begin to update EC, Please waiting...". After about 10 secs it just shuts down, and i have to power back up again. I checked, and the BIOS version has not changed.
I have tried extracting the files from the Winflash file, and just running InsydeFlash (as administrator) but i get the same result.
Any ideas?
Thanks -

How do you install the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor?
When I tried to install it, it "worked" but my disk drive lost the description. It just said "disk drive". -
Are the drivers on the 1st page still the latest ones or do I have to go somewhere else to get the latest ones?

Which driver do I need to install so I can change the screen brightness using f2 and f3?

Nevermind it's working now. But I just noticed I don't have transparent glass. Any ideas?

Hey guys,
In the "Envy 14 battery Life Log" thread, people there has noticed that there is a power management setting for the intel wireless card. I have tried the following two driver/software files, ICS_s64.exe and ICS_dv64.exe yet i dont have that option.
Also I can't use " intel PROSet wifi management utility" instead of the windows zero config utility either.
What is everyone using as there wifi utility manager? Also do you have the option/checkbox "let windows manage my wireless connection" under wireless properties?

This might be a stupid question but how do you turn off bluetooth? I clicked on disable in device manager but my phone can still find it.

Some updated card reader drivers are now available on the first post.
08/03/2010
- Changed "Alcor Micro AU6368 USB 2.0 Card Reader" to "Alcor Micro USB 2.0 Card Reader."
- Updated Alcor Micro USB 2.0 Card Reader driver to version 1.0.15.54.
I have been looking through the current HP consumer notebook lines and I've decided to eventually add dm4 and dv5 Gen 2 Intel support to this thread. There are a couple of things that I will need to add in order for this to be possible. In the meantime, stay tuned for this update!

Does anyone know a way to rollback to an old BIOS version? I've tried running the executables on the first page and they act like they install, but then when I restart I'm back to the newest version.

-
You should put up the F. 06 BIOS, it's been released. It supposedly fixes battery recognition problems.
-
Updated BIOS release now up, thanks L3vi.
As a reminder, make sure that you read the Important Information section pertaining to flashing the BIOS.

How do you find the drivers from the HP softpaq ftp server? I have HP support assistant installed on one of my Envy 14s and it says there is an updated Intel WLAN driver. However, when I go to the HP software & driver downloads site there are no WLAN drivers there for my laptop. I assume since HP Support Assistant says there are new WLAN drivers they must be on the softpaq ftp server somewhere.
Also, is there any way to see what driver files were actually updated? I installed the Intel WLAN driver update and Audio Codec update through Support Assistant but the driver versions don't seem to have changed in device manager. -
I strongly suggest you do not use the HP Support Assistant for updating. It suggests updates that are actually older than the updates I've listed here. This may also be why the updates don't install properly in the end. -
I have 2 Envy 14s so on one of them I did a clean install and on the other one I have the factory installed OS. I am just playing around with support assistant on one of my envy 14s and it does seem all kinds of crazy. It downloads and installs the updates but if I go to system restore it says no drivers or files were changed since the restore point meaning it seems the updates did nothing.
I notice some of the drivers you listed that point to somewhere on HP's ftp server don't list the envy 14 in the included README. However, for some of the drivers there is an identical driver version with a different SP number that does list the HP Envy 14 as supported. -

Thank you so much for creating & maintaining this thread. Has made finding everything much simpler. Cheers!

I was updating the first post while your replied.
I've been doing a lot of research and added quite a bit of things to make the Intel dm4 (dm4t) and dv5 Gen 2 (dv5t) compatible.
08/10/2010
- Added BIOS for dm4 / dv5-2xxx / CQ32, version F.08.
08/11/2010
- Added Atheros Wireless LAN driver.
- Added LightScribe System Software.
- Added Validity Fingerprint Reader driver.
- Added Intel Graphics Media Accelerator / Intel HD Graphics driver.
- Added Realtek RTL8191SE / RTL8192SE Wireless LAN driver version 1091.2 for Windows Vista and 2016.2 for Windows 7.
- Updated HP Wireless Assistant to version 4.0.7.0.
- Renamed "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650" to "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 / 5650."
To do: Add HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software for dm4, and add Ralink RT9030B Wireless LAN drivers. -
-
I'm sorry. I'm new to this thread and saw your link from the dm4t thread. So I'm assuming all of these drivers are compatible with the dm4t? HP's FTP server seems to be down for now but I will try again later.
I'm assuming these drivers are all compatible with the laptops you listed? If so that'd be great! The drivers on the official HP dm4t driver page are really outdated. ATI Catalyst drivers from the ATI site are not compatible with switchable graphics so I'm glad to have seen this. I hope they work. Thanks!! -
Here is the Link for HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software
SP47904
i havnt tried it yet! -
I was thinking of putting version 6.5.5.18 of the one HP posted since it's unique to the dm3 and dm4, but it didn't look that great and it isn't by DigitalPersona...
-
Meant for the newly supported dm4, dv5 Gen 2, and CQ32 notebooks that have a Ralink wireless card. Removal of previous versions is recommended before installing the newest version.
08/12/2010
- Added Ralink RT3090 Wireless LAN driver version 3.1.0.0.
Alternatively, driver updates are also posted on Ralink's website - http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=1 -
08/13/2010
- Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 15.0.24.0.
Prior removal of older drivers is recommended before installing the newest version. Technical release notes are provided within the driver package. -

Props to the OP. This thread has saved me so much time. Thanks again!

As for updates to the first post, I have a lot of them and I will need to explain some of them. Thanks Z3tor for many of the updates!
08/18/2010
- Updated Broadcom Wireless LAN driver to version 5.100.249.2.
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio Codec version 6.10.6289.0 driver links.
- Updated Intel Turbo Boost Technology driver version 1.2.0.1002 driver links and installation information.
The Broadcom Wireless LAN driver originates from Acer, and contains mostly universal support for the WLAN adapters currently available.
The IDT HD Audio driver's links were updated to reflect the most current package revision that HP has released thus far.
The Intel Turbo Boost Technology driver links have been updated to use the ones that HP now provides. Note that I had changed the installation information to be more accurate; I had taken a look at the provided technical release notes and realized that the supported configurations were much more than what I had mentioned. I was previously incorrect about the assumption that this could only be installed on notebooks with switchable graphics.
08/19/2010
- Updated BIOS for Envy 14 to version F.12.
- Renamed "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 / 5650" to "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5430 / 5450 / 5470 / 5650."
- Updated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5430 / 5450 / 5470 / 5650 driver to version 8.741.1.1000 (AMD) / 8.15.10.2141 (Intel SG).
- Updated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5430 / 5450 / 5470 / 5650 driver to version 8.741.1.3000 (AMD) / 8.15.10.2141 (Intel SG).
The new AMD/ATI graphics drivers are a big welcome. Note that two packages have been released, with one immediately succeeding the other. I posted the new older package as a previous release for reference. The newest driver package is posted as the current release. I now mention the version of the Intel switchable graphics driver as well.
Also, it seems that an Envy 14 refresh is coming based on the documentation! The new AMD/ATI graphics driver also has an entry for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6000 series! -
I've tried updating my .06 bios to .12 twice now and it's still on .06. can you help me ?
-
Try to exctract the softpaq first.
-
it's already extracted. i have the winflash.exe. after the bios was installed it restarts by itself and it's still on my old bios.
-
Having problems updating these new drivers on my Envy 14.
New BIOS won't update from 05 to 12. Using the tips from the other forum (which I used before) to try to get it to work, but it doesn't.
New ATI / Intel Switchable Graphic Drivers breaks the option and ability to switch graphics. -
Curious if there have been any updates to the HP Quick Web software?
-
I think the latest HP QuickWeb version is 1.0.1.68 (21 Jun 2010). sp49155.exe
-
-
Then I'm wrong. Your version must be newer. When is it dated?
-
First off, this is going to make me look like a total idiot, so I fully acknowledge that in advance.
Well, today I bought the HP Pavilion dm4-1060us from Office Depot.
As always, the laptop had a ton of bloatware, so I went to the program uninstaller via Control Panel and started uninstalling all the useless pre-loaded software (Norton, Hulu, Netflix, Windows Live, HP MediaSmart, etc.).
Unfortunately, at one point I must have ignorantly deleted what I now assume to have been the LAN driver, which I deducted in retrospect of my wireless Internet all of a sudden not working.
That is, it appears I deleted the driver necessary for wireless Internet connection.
Now, it seems this might (hopefully) just be a matter of downloading the right driver. However, I'm not sure which driver I should download.
To complicate matters, in a poorly reasoned attempt to resolve the matter, I re-installed Windows 7 with another CD, meaning my original 64-bit Windows 7 packaged with the HP was replaced by a generic 32-bit Windows 7.
Yeah, two mind-numbingly idiotic mistakes in one day. I feel indescribably terrible.
As an added consequence of replacing my original Windows 7, the function keys and the fingerprint scanner no longer work. As the wireless on/off button was itself a function key, that of course doesn't work either.
So, does anyone know if this can simply be resolved by downloading the right driver(s)?
I have never been so desperate for help from fellow folks on the Internet, so I humbly plead for the vast collective expertise of this forum's users to assist me in this $800 near-crisis.
I would be more than willing to answer any questions necessary to clarify this ordeal.
Thank you so much in advance to anyone who can help. -
@wigglypuff: Drivers are also provided online by HP.
Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dm4-1060us Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
The drivers in this thread are more recent than what is currently listed on the HP support page. If you're feeling adventurous, I recommend you try the ones here.
The wireless card isn't so clear cut in terms of what you have, and the HP support page doesn't seem to help. Could you provide the hardware ID of your wireless card? You might be able to find it in the Device Manager.
Also, if you want the Windows 7 64-bit clean DVD image, it's available right over in this thread - http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html -
^ Yeah, I guess first I'll try to download Windows 7 64-bit and then try each of the LAN drivers.
Unfortuntely, the device manager doesn't show the wireless card (only the ethernet).
Here's the store link if it helps to identify it at all:
