    • Updated IDT High Definition Audio Codec to version 6.10.6288.0.
    • Updated IDT High Definition Audio Codec to version 6.10.6289.0.
    • Added NVIDIA graphics driver version 8.17.12.5741 (257.41).

Please note that the NVIDIA graphics driver is regarded as a previous release due to the fact that it is likely derived from an older branch. Also note that the driver package does not include the PhysX software or HDMI Audio driver.

    • Updated Broadcom Wireless LAN driver to version 5.60.350.11 (thanks Z3tor).

This thread is now one year old and has reached over 50,000 views! Despite this, there's a lot of focus on the new models now and there isn't much discussion going on anymore with these notebooks. As a result, I'm going to update the first post less often (like the Intel-based dv5 Gen 1 and dv4 / CQ40 / CQ45 threads). Updates will still occur but only if something important needs to be addressed or posted.

I apologize to those of you who were anticipating a proper dm3 driver thread -- I've been busy with the other driver threads and now I don't seem to have the motivation to make one. If you're interested in making and managing a dm3 driver thread, feel free to use my template! (PM me if you need guidance or "permission" on how to use the template) :)

Thanks again everyone for all the support and discussion that you've put into these great driver threads! :)

The first post has been updated due to a BIOS update released by HP for the dv3-23xx / CQ36 series (F.0B). I also updated the DigitalPersona Personal Fingerprint Reader driver to the most recent version (5.1.0.175).

Changes introduced in BIOS version F.0B:

There's also BIOS F.16 REV. A for dv3 and CQ36, with Intel processors, dated September 17, 2010 (sp50303). Is this for models in this thread?

No, this BIOS release is actually for the newer dv3 models that I don't support. F.16 only works on the dv3-4xxx series (dv3 Gen 4), and this driver thread right now only supports dv3 Gen 2 (20xx-22xx models) and dv3 Gen 3 (23xx models).

OK I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the ATI website. It said that my HDMI and Graphic drivers were up to date but updated my software.
    Thanks.

I just tried flashing my BIOS from F.13 to F.14 (on a NE899AV) and discovered that it broke the fan control. Had it not been for my CPU temp gadget on my desktop, I'd have ended up with a fried notebook. I saw my CPU temperature increase up to over 90 deg C just from booting up after flashing and immediately re-flashed F.13. After rebooting from doing so, I could hear my fan spinning again and temps dropped back down to the normal 40-50 deg C range.

I would highly recommend against using F.14 and would suggest it be removed or at least noted to prevent problems for other users.

Looking at the supported models, it looks like this BIOS release is meant for the dv3-4000 (Gen 4) series, which I never added support for. :D

Thanks for finding it though! I also added dv3 Gen 2 designation in the thread title for now since I'm not really supporting dv3 Gen 4 at the moment.

It appears as though HP has released equiv BIOS updates (page fault fix) for most of their recent vintage C2D notebooks.

Recent vintage being approx 30 months old and less.
