FYI, a couple more updates to the original post:
09/21/2009
- Updated Broadcom Wireless LAN driver to version 5.30.20.0 for Windows Vista.
- Added Windows XP compatibility designation for LSI (Agere) HDA Modem.
-
A new TouchPad driver is available, now officially compatible with Windows 7. Also a new audio driver from Microsoft Update; hopefully this will fix the issues that some of you were having.
09/24/2009
- Updated ALPS Pointing Device/TouchPad driver to version 7.202.1702.406.
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 5.10.6230.0 for Windows XP, and version 6.10.6230.0 for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Just to be safe, remember to uninstall all previous versions of the audio driver prior to installing the newest version.
Edit, 09/25/2009: It seems HP is trying to do some catching up as well -- these new audio drivers are also now available as an official Softpaq distribution for Windows XP. I updated the link because the Softpaqs make installation much easier. -
For the first time in a long time, new ENE CIR Receiver drivers are out and up on the original post -- they are now officially Windows 7 compatible.
09/25/2009
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver links. (This was mentioned in the edit above.)
- Updated ENE CIR Receiver driver to version 2.7.4.0.

Hey Justin,
I installed the latest IDT drivers that you posted (my audio hasn't worked at all since I installed XP as a dual boot on my DV4t-1400 CTO). However when I fist ran the HP softpaq installer, it said that my Hardware isnt compatible with this softpaq. However, after un-installing the MS UAA drivers from the device manager -> System Devices, the install worked and I had sound. But after the reboot, the device manager showed High Definition Audio Driver under the unknown devices section with the yellow ! next to it but the sound worked (and MS UAA showed up under system devices, IDT high definition audio showed up as well under the Sound video and game controllers section). On the next reboot, all these devices disappeared (with the exception of the MS UAA driver) and the sound stopped working again. If I remove MS-UAA and re-install the softpaq, it seems to work until I reboot.
Would you happen to know about this issue and why it would be happening?
Thanks a lot,
Ritwik -
More specifically the device which has a yellow (!) next to it is : "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus".. The Hardware ID's for this are:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2802&SUBSYS_80860101&REV_1000
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2802&SUBSYS_80860101
I installed Everest and that shows that it is the Intel HDMI Device. Would you know if the drivers for this device come with the softpaq? -

The original post has been updated with a couple new drivers. The most significant change is the new Validity fingerprint reader driver and package -- it is now officially compatible with Windows 7.
10/01/2009
- Updated Realtek Ethernet/LAN driver to version 6.227 for Windows Vista.
- Updated Validity Fingerprint Reader to package version 3.1.366 and driver version 2.0.1.2.
-
Now up on the original post: an Intel graphics driver update for Windows Vista.
- Updated Intel GMA for Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family to version 15.13.6(.64).1908 for Windows Vista.
Do not install this update if your notebook has an NVIDIA graphics card.
Edit: New Intel drivers are now up. See the original post for additional installation information.
- Updated Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility to version 9.1.1.1020.
- Updated Intel Matrix Storage Manager to version 8.9.2.1002.

Thanks so much for this post, it's a lifesaver! I have access to a free copy of Windows 7 Pro through my college MSDN account so this was a huge timesaver...
I do have one issue though, and it might just be my laptop (dv4t), but does anyone have an issue with the Windows audio service locking up with the latest IDT drivers? Sound works fine at first (without headphones), but after I plug headphones in, all audio refuses to play until I restart. I've tried restarting the Windows Audio service but it refuses to shut down. All of my audio programs lock up as well (WMP, WMPC, Media Center, etc)... any ideas?
Thanks again! -
Updated JMicron Card Reader drivers are now available. Thanks Biker321.
10/02/2009
- Updated JMicron JMB38X Card Reader driver to version 1.0.34.2.

For Windows XP users, an update to HP ProtectSmart/3D DriveGuard is out.

Another update -- HP has released new audio drivers for all current operating systems.
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 5.10.6232.0 for Window XP and version 6.10.6232.0 for Windows Vista/7.

If you check the .txt or .inf files for the ENE CIR Receiver driver you have posted (2.7.4.0) they only indicate support for Windows 7. It’s also specified for only the DV6 or DV7 models.
I’m not sure what’s different between the models or the OS software but after uninstalling the old driver and re-booting, the new one didn’t want to load normally on our Vista DV4t-1000 CTO. Using the installer “do it anyway” method the result was that the remote no longer functioned. Uninstalled, ran CCleaner, and went back to the old driver…. no problems.
Just FYI…. and thanks again for all the work. -
Due to problems with the current ENE CIR Receiver driver, version 2.7.4.0 has been removed and version 2.7.3.519 has been posted.
Also, MediaSmart DVD 3.0 has arrived! Other MediaSmart 3.0 utilities should be released pretty soon. The documentation shows that MediaSmart 3.0 will only work with Windows 7, not currently sure about Windows Vista. I need confirmation as to whether this works on Windows Vista.
10/08/2009
- Updated ENE CIR Receiver Driver to version 2.7.3.519
- Updated MediaSmart DVD to version 3.0.2815 for Windows 7.
-
Some updates to the original post. I re-posted version 2.7.4.0 of the ENE CIR Receiver driver because it might work as long as all previous versions of the driver are completely removed first. A system restart is also recommended after installation of the driver. New Intel graphics drivers are also available and includes the Intel HDMI audio driver -- do not install the Intel graphics packages if you have an NVIDIA graphics card.
10/09/2009
- Re-posted ENE CIR Receiver driver version 2.7.4.0.
- Updated Intel GMA drivers to version 14.38.10(.64).5132 (6.14.10.5132) for Windows XP and version 15.15.6(.64).1892 (8.15.10.1892) for Windows 7.
-
An update for all current and relatively recent notebook models made by HP.
10/10/2009

New DigitalPersona Fingerprint Reader Software (also through the update service), now Windows 7 compatible.
Thanks Axel Foley and LordFan21.
10/11/2009
- Updated DigitalPersona Personal Fingerprint Reader Software to version 4.11.3805.

New Broadcom Wireless LAN drivers are now available, and are now officially compatible with Windows 7. Please let me know if you experience problems with these drivers since I am unable to test them given my notebook's configuration.
10/15/2009
- Updated Broadcom Wireless LAN drivers to version 5.60.18.9 for Windows XP and version 5.60.18.8 for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Do not install this driver if your notebook does not have a Broadcom wireless LAN card. -

Extract the contents of the cab and install using the Device Manager - Update Driver wizard.
Or, you can try to use the Update Driver wizard on the current package and see if Windows can install the INF. -
I really need it to upgrade.... Please help... -
On a different subject and for everyone, a new addition to the list of MediaSmart utilities has been posted.
- Added MediaSmart Internet TV version 3.0.1916 for Windows 7.
-
First of all, thanks for the hard work with all the update drivers.
CQ45 user here, using the latest bios available on the HP website. Just did a clean install on Windows 7 after finding this resourceful thread with all the drivers for Windows 7.
However, one thing i did notice was that even tho I installed the Quick Launch software (the most recent one posted on the 1st page), the brightness keys were not functioning. Any thoughts? Other softwares were working flawlessly. -
The release notes for F.42 were/are:
- Adds support for Windows Vista Operating Systems with Service Pack 2.
- Adds support for future Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
- Updates the Intel Memory Reference Code to version 2.7.
Point is…. we really don’t know why the BIOS were removed. I’ve been running F.42 on a Vista 32 DV4t-1000 CTO since its release and have had no issues except when tinkering with new drivers posted here that "officially" only provide support for Windows 7 or those that do not "officially" support the DV4t series. Otherwise, all features function as advertised.
If any of you here would like to try the HP BIOS F.34 or F.42 for the DV4t, PM me with an address and I'll send either or both along. I do not have F.31. -
Thanks Dave for reminding me that the pulled BIOS releases were indeed an unverified conclusion and how we can only rely on speculation at this point as to why they were removed -- I apologize for jumping to such a conclusion prematurely.
For everyone: Two updates were made to the first post -- MediaSmart MVP version 3.0 for Windows 7 as well as updated TV tuner drivers (explanation below). Almost every driver/software listed on the original post is now compatible with Windows 7, most of them officially designated as such. The MediaSmart 3.0 suite is now posted in its entirety (with the exception of SlingPlayer).
10/17/2009
- Updated MediaSmart MVP to version 3.0.3123 for Windows 7.
- Renamed "HP Integrated Analog/Digital TV Tuner" to "HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner, HP DVB-T/Analog TV Tuner."
- Updated HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner, HP DVB-T/Analog TV Tuner driver to version 1.3.0.76 for Windows Vista/7 x86 and version 1.3.64.76 for Windows Vista/7 x64.
The original post has since been updated to more reflect the names of the actual TV tuner hardware in use. This new TV tuner driver supports multiple AVermedia products, namely the following: A317, A316, A309, and A328 -- the A317 and A316 are likely the TV tuners that are integrated into the notebooks, thus I only posted the driver version numbers for these two. Please let me know how this driver is working for you -- I cannot test this since I don't have an integrated TV tuner in my notebook. Don't install this if your notebook does not have an integrated TV tuner provided by HP.
(Off-topic, but a fun fact which I also mentioned in the other driver threads: Based on documentation, the four AVermedia TV tuners listed above are code-named after current and former American TV game show hosts -- Richard Dawson, Bob Barker, Pat Sajak, and Richard Karn, respectively.)
-
Its a little technicality ..but an important one I think as far as what HP has been doing with their DV4t BIOS updates.
Good Work .. Great Attitude!! -
Still, it can't work. Its there any other option? or the older version maybe? please. Thanks before.
-
A couple of minor updates made to the original post.
10/19/2009
- Renamed "Realtek RTL8111C/8102E Gigabit Ethernet/LAN" to "Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller."
- Updated HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection link for Windows Vista and Windows 7 (thanks Axel Foley).
-
So had anyone got EVERYTHING working with XP on a HP DV4 - 1041 Tx?
-

10/20/2009
- Updated IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver to version 6.10.6242.0 for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
-
A lot of updates to the original post -- a day before the public release of Windows 7! Thanks to dannyres for informing me of the majority of updates. Everything on the original post should now be compatible with Windows 7, most of them officially designated.

10/22/2009
- Updated BIOS to version F.55 A.
-
Hi
I have just updated my two dv4 1090 with the new BIOS F.55A. I run Win 7 Pro. When I close the pc`s in hybernate sleep the pc`s close and 1 sec later automatic make a restart. I happens on both pc`s. I reinstalled the old BIOS F.30 and evething works fine. So I would be careful with this new BIOS update. Other with the same problem? -
An update to the ALPS TouchPad device driver is now up on the original post.

Hi all,
I have a HP dv4-1413la and blueetooth module posted here does not seem to work on Windows 7 (x64). Any ideas? It says that the bluetooth module is not detected.
Pardu. -
An update for notebooks with LightScribe-enabled drives.
10/25/2009
- Updated LightScribe System Software to version 1.18.9.1 (thanks Biker321).
@pardu: Make sure that your Bluetooth adapter is enabled in the Network and Sharing control panel, and also make sure that the wireless switch is set to on. If you have the HP Wireless Assistant, make sure that Bluetooth is enabled.
If you did not restart your computer after Bluetooth driver installation, try to do so and see if that also fixes the problem. -
Be careful!! -
Then I flashed it back to F.42 A and evething is OK. -
All HP driver threads have been updated with a new version of the Quick Launch Buttons.
10/29/2009
- Renamed "Intel WiFi Link 5100" to "Intel WiFi Link."
- Updated HP Quick Launch Buttons to version 6.50.7.1.
As for the BIOS problems, this might be a rather serious issue. Hopefully HP realizes this problem and is working on an update that should be released very soon. -
Hi again
I found a solution for the hybernate sleep problem. I my case it was the usb-mouse who gave me the trouble. I deactivated the mouse not to be allowed to wake up my computer in "Device Manager". Then my computer was able to sleep. Try it out guys -
Many thanks!! -
