Thanks to lovegl as the first user to point out a handful of MediaSmart updates.

    11/06/2009
    • Updated MediaSmart DVD to version 3.0.3309 for Windows 7.
    • Updated MediaSmart Live TV to version 3.0.2118 for Windows 7.
    • Updated MediaSmart Webcam to version 3.0.2018 for Windows 7.
    • Updated MediaSmart MVP to version 3.0.3316 for Windows 7.

If you had looked on the original post, I have begun organizing the driver entries into a table-based format. This allows the original post to contain more useful information, as suggested by the users here on NBR. It is not yet finished, but it should be complete soon.

I'm also announcing that future updates to the original post will be phasing out Windows XP drivers due to the fact that it is no longer in mainstream support (and now, Windows 7 has been released). In the future, users who still need Windows XP drivers can simply post in this thread for a request, and a link if one exists will be provided in subsequent reply posts.

I have a dv4t 1413tx laptop. I formatted my HDD and reinstalled with Win 7. Everything is working great. Thanks everyone who have contributed towards this thread. There is one minor problem though. The volume control and the mute/unmute buttons are all touch sensitive buttons. When I tap the mute/unmute button, it mutes/unmutes. But the problem is, when the sound is on mute, the light used to be red previously. Right now it remains white whether its on mute or unmute. So, there is no visual confirmation about the muting process. Am I missing any of the drivers here that I should be installing?

No, I don't think so -- the drivers available on the original post should be enough for the mute/unmute button to work as desired. Sometimes it might take a restart (or two?) to get the buttons to work. Also consider updating the HP Quick Launch Buttons should the problem persist; this might help fix the problem. :)

Quite a bit of stuff updated over the past couple weeks. It took a while to get everything straightened out but it got done. :) Here is a list of the most recent edits to the original post -- thanks to everyone who helped out!

    12/12/2009
    • Updated IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver to version 6.10.6249.0 (thanks lovegl).

    12/21/2009
    • Updated HP MediaSmart MVP links (revision D, thanks lovegl).
    • Updated HP Quick Launch Buttons to version 6.50.12.1 (thanks lovegl and amires).
    • Updated Broadcom wireless driver to version 5.60.18.41.

    12/26/2009
    • Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.1.1.1025 (thanks lovegl).

I now added simple instructions on how to run the Intel Chipset Device Software using the -overall parameter. Please see the Important Information section for details (really, it's now much easier :)).

As I mentioned, the sound does get muted and unmuted. But the button light does not turn from white to red when it unmutes. I have rebooted the laptop a number of times till now. Its of no use.

Surprisingly, the wifi button also works in a similar fashion. When the Wi-Fi is ON, the button is white, and when it is OFF, the button light is red (which is normal). I am confused as to why it is not happening with the volume button. Also, previously, when I increased or decreased the volume, a visual used to come up on the screen. That is not happening now. Maybe, the driver for this will sort out both the problems.

Finally, I installed the touchpad driver, but the scroll on the touchpad is not working. Should I install a separate driver for that?

The TouchPad driver should come with software that should allow you to turn scrolling on or off. Since these notebooks use the ALPS TouchPad, I'm not exactly sure where you do this -- try looking in the Mouse control panel to see if there's an option somewhere in there which enables/disables scrolling.

I see it -- let me take a look...this will probably replace the Intel Matrix Storage Manager should this package have the necessary files.

Edit: Seems that the file is missing from the Intel Download Center servers; they either removed it or did not post it

@lovegl: The original post already has these versions, so there is no real need to update the links (except for the Bluetooth).

About the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver package: HP has now posted it! This is replacing the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

    01/19/2010
    • Changed "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" to "Intel Rapid Storage Technology."
    • Added Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver version 9.5.0.1037.

Thanks once again lovegl -- I've been trying to update things that have not been updated in a while so I will be putting this up soon as time permits.

There has been some major updating going on in the original post. Part of the reason why is that I am now supporting the new HP dv4i and Compaq CQ41 Intel-based notebooks! So, welcome dv4i and CQ41 notebook users, and I hope that this resource will be a valuable one for those who own one of these notebooks. :)

I am not done with updating the original post (as evidenced by the Broadcom update lovegl mentioned above). Please check back frequently as I continue on working and improving these threads. :)

    01/24/2010
    • Added support for HP Pavilion dv4-21xx (dv4i) and Compaq Presario CQ41.
    • Added BIOS for dv4-21xx and CQ41 version F.06 A.
    • Added ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4550 driver to version 8.672.3.0.

Yes, it seems that the IDT audio drivers for business notebooks are separate from the consumer notebooks.

There is a newer driver out that you can try which I will put up on the original post shortly. :)

My busy schedule has led me to be rather slow with the updates, but here are some that I made to the original post:

    01/29/2010
    • Updated IDT High Definition Audio driver to version 6.10.6255.0.
    • Updated Broadcom Wireless LAN driver to version 5.60.48.18.
    • Updated Realtek PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Family Controller driver to version 6.230 for Windows Vista.

If you are having problems with the Intel Turbo Boost driver, please uninstall it and wait for the next release (which will hopefully fix the issues).

when i install the HP Quick Launch Buttons drivers, this just makes those quick launch buttons work, but how do i get the animated splash icons to show on my display? when i change the volume, i have no idea what level it's at because the little graphic thingy doesn't show on my screen

For all first generation dv4 (1xxx series), CQ40, and CQ45 users: a new BIOS update is now available from HP and up on the original post. This is the first time I've seen HP release a BIOS in the "sixties" range.
