    Grrr I will eat a keyboard! :D

    Thank you Gieffe22.

I have desperately been trying to find out how to hide Intel onboard for systems that have Intel + ATI 5xxx + 8.1 since it causes bootloops.

It's nice to see some people are still using our Envy laptops!
Thanks for the tip about the 14.12 Omega drivers - going to check them out.

i have no reason to change my little beast... i upgrade it a couple of months ago with a 840 evo 250gb ad this thing it just flies! my friends are just astonished by the speed of apps or any other thing i use in it (they never see an ssd before)...

so...i will change it only when gpu power on medium range laptops shoul be extremly higher than my 5650 (actually the nvidia 840m is a great upgrade, but not so giant like i want... i think that i should wait at least end of 2015 or sping 2016 to change this little beast)...

i have only one criticts about it, the orrible 1366x768 screen resolution!... with a fullhd this baby would be perfect

Can someone post a screenshot of their device manager hardware on an Envy 17?

I've been running Windows 8 quite happily for over a year but the recent 8.1 update or subsequent patches messed something up with my display drivers and power settings and I'm not sure it's detecting the correct hardware any more in the device manager. The computer keeps locking up randomly.

    Thanks

Did you fix that IDT driver?

BTW how do you run AMD 14.12 on your Intel + AMD + Windows 10? .. It doesn't crash?

IDT sold its audio division and HP hates us ;).
    However:
    What can be done is:
Take the newest IDT drivers from HP which are available for newer devices. Mod in compatibility and settings for older cards .. then sign the driver.
Or .. take newest IDT drivers from Windows 10 (if there are any) mod them for beats (if at all needed)... sign them.
I hope someone is interested in making something like this.

Regardless I would be happy to help out with a certificate etc.

eheh i think is not easy...

anyway i think that hp or dell (many dell have the same problems with idt) must release a right driver for windows 10 because many hp envy of last year use idt (envy leapmotion or envy spectre 13 2014)... so hope in good :D

The issue is not really getting hold of a newer IDT driver.

It is about putting in the right "settings" into the config files. I had a look at one of these drivers a few months ago. There are a few things here and there that need to be changed to personalize the driver for a specific system.

IE .. new Envy models might have more speakers ... or no base etc. It is things like this .. doable but time consuming.

Anyone got the IDT driver for Windows 8.1? I'm sure I haven't got the right one as the sound is very thin, no real bass

    dj045: The IDT driver I've been using is 6.10.6498.0 (31 Jan 2014), however there's a more recent one - 6.10.6503.0 (I just found it)

    Hope this helps.

    doesnt
the 6503 doesn't work on our hp laptops...it's a driver made for lenovo laptops so we need to mod it (and i don't know how) or wait for a hp proper working driver (hoping that they are developing a newer driver by tempo producer, because idt as been sold to tempo)...

That was my conclusion as well, after attempting to install it.

    At least 6498 works.

There is a new driver for ITD/Tempo (6504, http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71717.exe) by HP but it's for their all-in-ones, it'll say no compatible device found. BUT what I did was unpacking 6466 and 6504 and overwriting all files from WDM folder in 6466 package with files from 6504 EXCEPT THE INI/INF files. This way I got the newest driver installed, with working eq and beats enhancements, however the master sliders stillaren't working. I can't really hear any sound quality difference either.

An afraid no news on the IDT front. I am happy to sign any modded drivers that people create over on leshcatlabs.

There are however good news for Radeon users : )

    Intel HD1st Gen+ Radeon Mobility 5xxx /6xxxm (rebrands) users =

Looks like MS and AMD took note of the infamous "blackscreen upon running games” bug that has existed since anything newer than Catalyst 14.4.
    Recap:

    - Bootloop on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (Fixed with 15.7)
    - Some games show a black screen (Fixed with 15.11)
    - HDMI doesn't work (AMD acknowledged this bug in the 15.11 release notes)
Head over to leshcatlabs and grab their modded 15.11 to get HDMI support
