Ok, well I just tried it on the old HDD (using a SSD now), with no luck. My screen even stays blank if I have the ATI 5470m enabled. :( I have to disable it via safe mode to do anything in the normal mode. I'm afraid W8 isn't going to work fully on my laptop.

    • Updated: Intel Chipset Device Software package, version 9.3.0.1026.
    • Updated: Intel WiFi Link driver (and software), version 15.3.1.2 for Windows 7.

When I can and have answers for them. :D

Yes, as long as you have both in your system. You should not install this driver package if you have standalone Intel HD Graphics though (which is what the second point is describing).

J0ey and Fractal and the rest. Yes you can install AMD's latest drivers over HP's switchable graphics and have it work. Read my post from this page:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...7-4xxx-envy-17-1xxx-intel-33.html#post8241587

A note to Justin and the rest though. I have installed the latest version of AMD's drivers over my switchable 5650 and it works. The only thing that is not working is the brightness buttons. I can't seem to get them to work for AMD's 5650. They are on max bright with 5650 and when I switch back to Intel HD the brightness buttons work..
It seems its a problem with AMD. Justin if you know of a work around or a solution it'd be great. Thanks

Update: Brightness controls are not working with AMD Catalyst 12.10 on a variety of PC models. Switchable graphics still works
I found similiar reports on brightness not working on here: Catalyst 12.10 WHQL UnifL for AMD+Intel Graphics ← leshcatlabs.net

Hi, thanks. I will try that in the future. The brightness is a problem on Windows 7 as well, with the same method (first HP drivers then update with the ADM drivers). I could kind of fix it with this:

    Good luck. :)

I had no luck with it :( The current solutions on the web seem to be working for Win 8 users, the # f940 works for win 8 users who seem to be having trobule. I'm a win 7 x64 the working number for me was f840 but the AMD graphics brightness doesn't work on it. When i switched to Intel it works flawlessly. I feel i must go back to 12.9

Justin if you can, can you repost the link to AMD 12.9 for win 7 x64 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry, but I'm hopelessly confused ( at the end of a virus, which doesn't help)
    I have a dv7-4283cl
Radeon 6300 series and Intel(R)HD Graphics
I upgraded (questionable terminology) to Windows 8 last week...worked fine for a couple days, then graphics started acting up...desktop page freezing after sleep and/or hibernation, displaying only a few icons and no program windows (not even control panel). I've uninstalled, reinstalled HP's drivers, which are for Windows 7. Got it working, turned off hibernate and sleep (I thought) but the problem persists.
It's also near impossible to boot into safe mode...it keeps going to automatic repair. When I can, if I uninstall the AMD driver I'm able to boot to Windows, but I get a message that Catalyst needs Attention, then I lose many icons and am basically stuck.
BTW, booting through to Windows gets me to a blank screen where I can hear Windows start, but only see my wireless mouse icon. HP support refuses to help unless I Recover To 7. I've been reading the thread, but am confused as to what drivers might solve my issues. Is there a clear explanation somewhere I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated...this forum seems full of knowledgable, friendly and helpful people - a godsend. I'm in bed on my Ipad getting ready to sleep off this virus, but will be back on my laptop first thing in the morning.
Thanks in advance, and don't worry, it's a human virus...

    Edit:
When I try to install the HPdriver, I get "faled to load detection driver". Also, when I can get into Windows 8, I can't find Catalyst to uninstall it. I don't have much time anyway before it freezes.

    Edit 2:
    Edit:
Talked to Microsoft support for 2 1/2 hrs. Was able to delete Catalyst, tried installing HP driver which worked before, but it wouldn't recognize hardware. Also tried AMD site drivers. Kept going to black screen but the support tech could see my computer on hers. Couldn't be resolved - she left me with the Intel driver enabled...AMD unenabled. Said there's a conflict. Have to refresh icons and lost my background. I'll keep looking.

This was for Windows 7 btw. right? Because I tried it with Windows 8 and had no luck with it. Ugh, think I have to wait for Leshcat's drivers to be a stable version, untill then I'm stuck with Windows 7. Great job for a 1,5 year old laptop HP..

Well, HP's 'experts' were no help. Mine suggested a driver that left me with a black screen, - I had to reboot in safe mode and disable the Radeon 6370 an go back to using the Intel. He also suggested the lethcat driver because the 6000 cards will not be supported in Win 8.

There seem to be a lot of posts indicating how the brightness controls are not working for HP notebooks with AMD switchable graphics. As you mentioned, there is a workaround that involves modifying the registry but it may not always work. Honestly, HP is not doing a great job in handling this seemingly widespread issue. Also, HP will not be releasing nor supporting the use of Windows 8 drivers on these notebooks (they are only going back to the October 2011 lineups and onward). Because of the way AMD graphics drivers are built for OEMs, we will most likely never see a Windows 8 release or fix that's officially supported by HP. As a result, the first post won't have complete compatibility coverage for Windows 8 unless clever and streamlined workarounds (like installing the reference package) can be successfully implemented and documented. :(

I don't think I had ever posted the download link to Catalyst 12.9, because it was considered a beta release.

What was the previous version you of the AMD x64 win 7 driver? Whatever the previous version of Catalyst you had before 12.10, can you send me a link to that?

I have a win 7 so i'm not too worried about a win 8 upgrade, win 7 works.

I think the last one that I posted was Catalyst Mobility 12.4, since I didn't document posting 12.6 or 12.8 under the Recent Edits list. I'm not sure if the 12.4 download links are still active.

Here are the download links to Catalyst Mobility 12.8:

..well.. did just do this ^ and switchable graphics are working on Windows 8. No custom drivers, no running Windows in testmode. It is working.

Only problem is the Validity Sensor VFS301. It isn't working. Any driver aviable to make it work again?

    Hi there,
Hey there joey, first make sure you got the latest version of HP Simplepass.
AuthenTec Customer Support > Downloads > Windows > HPSimplePass

Next you can get working drivers + instructions for VFS301 here: Read the post by Axel Foley
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-...xx-dv8-hdx16-hdx18-intel-249.html#post8961770

A note for those interested i finally got brightness to work by totally removing HP's AMD & Intel drivers and installing fresh display drivers from leshcatlabs.net ← Keeping it simple the new 12.11 Enduro packaged by him fixes the brightness issue and has switchable graphics working. ATI5650 and Intel HD Graphics
Before you install follow the install manual on the website

Thank you so much! This indeed worked!

I installed my HP ATI drivers in Windows 7 compatibility mode, this way there isn't a watermark or Windows need to be running in test mode. Everything then works fine. (sleep, brightness, switching) After that I installed the most recent AMD drivers (12.10) and my brightness control on the ATI card stopped working. So I changed a value in my register from f840 to f940 and everything worked again.

I tested it with windows 8 (win7 not confirmed):
    1) open “regedit”,
    2) goto [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}000]
    3) double click on FeatureTestControl
    4) change value to f940 (my old value was f000)
    5) reboot computer, thats it.

(btw copied this, so my old value was indeed f840)

I see you already tried that, but maybe with the HP drivers it could be working; however if everything is working fine with Leshcat drivers you can also just use those ofcourse.

    Thanks again! :D

My pleasure a point I noticed is that the validity sensor posted is not the latest. It still works but if you want the latest get this:

You can get the latest here:
Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver | HP® Support

    SP56957.exe

Thats from HP, May 5 2012
    Suports VFS301, VFS201,VFS300,VF451,WBF_0018,WBF_0011,WBF_0010,WBF_0010,WBF_003c
Its built on the latest driver from vaidity itself, so no problems :)

Hello, I have a HP dv6-3125sa which I bought in April 2011. I recently upgraded to Windows 8 in November but my ATI drivers are gone. I tried to install the one for HP dv6-3xxx in opening post but it makes my screen go black and I have to go into safe mode and disable it to get my screen working again. When I try to use the auto-detect from the AMD website, it tells me my computer is oudated. Is there anyway to get the latest display driver for Windows 8 for my HP dv6-3125sa? Thanks.

Install your HP drivers in compatibility mode, then install the most recent AMD drivers over it (not in compatibility mode).

Thanks for replying. Could you walk me through this? I don't know which HP drivers you're talking about and if you're talking about the AMD drivers in OP.

Edit: If by HP drivers you mean those that allow me to use hotkeys to control brightness, volume and whatnot, they're already good. I have synaptics mouse driver so that's good as well, my only problem is with the display driver.

No. I mean the HP display drivers which you can download from the HP website (insert your HP laptop type then download the drivers). They should be Windows 7 drivers, install those in Windows 7 compatibility mode (right mouse click on the installer > compatibility mode > use Windows 7.) Then you should be able to switch. :)

If you want the newest AMD drivers you can download them from the AMD website.

I don't think there is a Windows 8 driver available for these HP webcams. There is an update to YouCam however, and it should work with Windows 8.

Also, I do not know of a driver for the Ralink Motorola BC4 Bluetooth Adapter that's compatible with Windows 8. Will have to do some searching on that...

I have a Pavilion dv6-3032tx and I've been using "HP Universal WebCam Driver 4.00 Rev A" for Windows 7/8 with good success. Here is the info:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59885.html

    Download the driver from here:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59501-60000/sp59885.exe

For the software, I've been using the commercial version of Cyberlink YouCam 5 which has some extra advanced features such a face recognition for Windows logon and web logon etc., which HP YouCam or HP WebCam software lacks. It's suppose to work with both Windows 7/8.

I have seen a free HP YouCam [or was it HP WebCam?] software for Windows 8 on their ftp server a while ago, but i can not remember the sp number for it. I'll post it here if I find it again.

There is an update for the HP WebCam software [HP MediaSmart Webcam Software v4.2.3303], but the info states it's for Windows 7. Here's the info on it:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51001-51500/sp51029.html

I guess you could try it on Windows 8 to see if it works. If you do want to to try it, here's the download link :
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp51001-51500/sp51029.exe

    Good luck

    Thank u ifeelgr8 & justinkw1 for ur webcam solutions & it works.

But I really need bluetooth for my notebook.
I have noticed tht Microsoft website for win8 says tht Motorolla bc4 driver is compatible for win8.
Also from studying help file of original driver of win7 I came to know tht maker of this driver is Motorola & there is no relation with Ralink.

I suppose it can run Ralink chipset as well tht why Ralink is there.

There is one more intresting thing
The driver on 1st install to win8 shows bluetooth icon in System Tray, from here right click & opening setting will lead u to settings of bluetooth.
THEN IT ACTUALLY RUNS & CAN SEND & RECEIVE FILES.

but problem is tht on next boot icon disappear$ & have to reinstall again to make it apper.
Also when icon is there on trying to open Bluetooth main window it opens MyDocument folder of Win8.

Since main bluetooth window cant be opened so other function like Comport, headset, Internet modem etc cant be used.

In short though it do not work in win8 but it is not fully incompatible. A patch ot something can make it work

    Anyone programmer here?
Also installing in compatibility mode of win7 & xp make no difference & it doesn't work with same problems as said above.

I hope u can check it on ur PC & sort out

Thank you for helping me :)

If anyone has email of Motorola help section related to this or other driver then post here

Thank you for helping me :)

Do you have any new drivers? I just updated to Windows 8.1, but the latest HP drivers don't include 8 nor 8.1, so I could use with some newer ones.

Also, you mention not using Intel drivers if we have AMD cards alongside them. Is this so we use the AMD card instead of the Intel one (for performance), or is there some sort of incompatibility an issue here?

I have been having some problems regarding brightness, and I heared people people with laptops from other manufacturers mention that reinstalling an older version of the Intel drivers kind of fixes the problem for them.

first of all, thanks for updating these again!

as a note, and maybe somebody knows a solution:
ive installed synaptics touchpad 18.0.1.32 driver, and it seemed to work very well, however i am not able to disable the touchpad by double-clicking on the upper left corner, as it used to be. this feature is enabled in the settings.

    win 7 64bit, envy 17 3d 1195ea
with 17.0.8.0 it worked. didnt try 17.0.16.1.

    with 18.0.1.32 & 17.0.16.1 tapping (including double-tapping the upper-left corner to enable/disable teh touchpad) doesnt work on envy 17 3d 1195ea.

im back at 17.0.8.0 and everythings ok there.

synaptics 17.0.16.1 and 18.0.1.32 didn't work neither for dv6 3016sl on Windows 8.1, with the same issues. I didn't try 1.17.0.8, currently i'm with 16.6.1.3, no bad with this reg fix, but some time the touchpad locks...

i don't post here by much time but... i have to informe other people about something

synaptics driver:the latest one fully working for this series is 17.0.8... i tried latest one 18.1.30.2 but it doesnt work correctly because the touchpad work but it doesnt recognize the single and double tap(so you have to press the phisical button under the touchpad) instead of touchclick...

but i have a question... why idt drivers has stopped at 6498? i see that al recents laptop from hp now use the realtek drivers... so is this the reason of the stop of idt drivers?
