There might be some additional drivers that you will need to install -- can you go into the Device Manager and look for a Bluetooth adapter?
The first post does not have a Bluetooth driver (and neither does the HP support page either), and I'm trying to figure out what type of Bluetooth adapter the Envy 14-2XXX uses. If you can find who manufactures the adapter, I'll be able to post the driver for it.
-
Fun fact I just discovered when trying to run that: the dv6t-6100 does not use the Ralink/Motorola Bluetooth device.
The dv6100 contains a Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth 3.0 driver in the swsetup folder.
So you need to make note that dv6t-6000 and dv6t-6100 are different. -
Well, the Intel CTO which you are referring to does use the BCM2070.
However, this is not consistent with retail models such has 60xx and 61xx which may have something else similar instead.
This thread and his other driver threads are designed for people who are bright enough to double check their system configuration and download drivers accordingly. -
Good to know, I've added the Broadcom Bluetooth drivers as well.
07/23/2011
- Added Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth driver.
- Updated Intel Chipset Device Software to version 9.2.0.1031.
- Added HP SimplePass Software by DigitalPersona version 5.2.0.205.
The Intel Chipset Device Software update is a minor one, so no need to update if you had already applied 9.2.0.1030. -
07/25/2011
- Updated HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor to version 4.2.2.1 (driver) / 4.1.10.1 (software).
-
lol? You calling me dumb?
Device Manager doesn't happen to call the Bluetooth adapter anything before you install drivers. It's not like this thread lists the device ID's for each driver either so I don't know how you think anyone's supposed to be able to know. -
Just there are many way to determine them.
I list a couple of ways.
You can look it up under System Information. (A complete printout is nice to keep)
Also, you can look at the hardware ID in the device manger.
It is more than enough to determine what it is.
If you skip doing some research before doing a clean install .... uh good luck .... -
Hi justinkw1 thanks for maintaining the thread (subscribed for future updates
!). Was very useful when I did a clean install on my HP Envy 14 2013tx.
For the benefit of any other owners who are not happy with their switchable graphics see: HP Envy 14-2013tx switchable graphics not working. - HP Support Forum
It's kind of frustrating, hope the promised BIOS update will come soon. If anyone has found a work-around, please let us know. Thanks! -
@neonthe0ne
You may not know what each hardware ID is what, but Google does. How is anyone supposed to know?!?! INTERNETS SEARCH (Did anyone catch the sutle humor?)
Furthermore, the bluetooth adapter is listed with "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator" or something along those lines as long as bluetooth is turned on. -
Just to say excellent work,
I have just bought an HP DV6-6060SA here in the UK which is new out here........ so i am told!! but looks like it has B2 revision chipset ho hum.
The odd thing is i cannot find any support pages on the HP website for the DV6-6060SA anyone know why?
Is the laptop listed under a generic group? Sorry new to HP's always been a Dell and Alienware user my m17x r2 is in for repair but i digress.
Anyways this thread has been a god send as it has all the drivers in one place
Thanks
-
The dv6-6060SA is part of the more generic dv6t-6000 family - just search for dv6t-6000 on the HP support page. The chipset used for this series should already be revision B3, but I think Intel still identifies it as B2 to prevent compatibility problems.

Updated IDT Audio driver is now available on the first post.

- Updated Broadcom 2070 Bluetooth driver package to version 6.5.0.1300.
This package includes a revamped setup wizard. Note that driver component version numbers may differ from the one that I mentioned above. -
Warning! The latest broadcom Bluetooth package bundles software from a company called Easybits. The program is called Easybits Games. There is no user choice for installing Easybits. Furthermore there is no uninstaller for Easybits.
Easybits seems to act like spyware and Google results show that though it is not classified as spyware, it can be treated as spyware. I noticed an unknown process running and found out that it communicates back to Easybits. This is on a clean, fresh install of Windows 7 with all updates, antivirus and antispyware.
The Easybits installer seems to be embedded in the Broadcom installer. The previous driver version does not contain Easybits Games. -
Easybits? Never heard of it before...furthermore, I don't see any traces of Easybits Games being on my system as a result of installing the Bluetooth drivers. Could you provide more information on this?
-
It won't show in add/remove programs. Navigate to the Widcomm directory and you will find an Easybits folder. As for the unknown process, I sometimes see it and sometimes don't. I'm in the process of clean installing again to make sure.
Also, the new package is considerably bigger than the previous ones. -
I ran a virtual machine on another system and proceeded to install the latest Broadcom Driver. I hooked a bluetooth dongle to the virtual machine so the driver would install. The latest Broadcom Driver does indeed bundle the Easybits Games.
Caution to anyone intending to upgrade their bluetooth drivers. -
Well, this is shady -- I saw the folder when you pointed out the path in Program Files and I just simply deleted it. (I know it's not really the proper way to handle this but what other options are there?
)
Now, who wants to talk to Broadcom about this?
EDIT: I also used CCleaner to remove any registry entries that Easybits had added. -
It is indeed shady. I'm fine with deleting the folder. The problem is that I was able to track a process communicating with what appears to be an Easybits owned server after the install of the Broadcom drivers. That, I am not at all okay with.
-
Thanks man! It does fix my problem, the frustration ends and let the gaming begin
!
Good job on running this thread! Cheers... -
Alternative way would be delete the WHL directory in both Win32 & Win64 directory. It would remove the Easybits program before it has chance to install with the driver package.
-
Please ignore my last post, deleting the WHL does not solve the issue. The Easybits is more deeply integrated in the installation package.
-
EasyBits Go games has been installed along Skype since 2006. Read the following article about it. It includes a link to EasyBits Go games removal tool.

I hope this helps you guys, I haven't installed that Broadcom BT update yet. It's really annoying if you don't even have a choice not to install bundled software.. -
And the updates keep coming...

The current Renesas USB 3.0 driver is now directly linked from HP (it's the same version as the one that Intel provided).
A txt file with detailed release notes is located within the Synaptics TouchPad 15.3.11.0 package.
Also note that Broadcom Bluetooth driver component versions may differ from the package's version number. -
I am having issues with the IDT High Definition Audio driver version 6.10.6351.0 update. When I update it, the speaker icon on the right side of the taskbar has a red x over it, indicating that the driver isn't functioning correctly. After a restart, Windows gives me an error message: "An unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application, etc. etc. Element not found. The error number it gives is 0x80070490. Reverting to the previous driver version resolves the issue and I no longer get the error message.

Hi and thank you for this amazing thread. What a wonderful resource!
I just got a dv7-6100 and planning to do a clean retail install of Windows 7. I'm wondering what is the best order to install the following drivers:
-Intel Chipset Device Software
-Intel Management Engine Interface
-AMD Radeon HD 6770M
Thanks!
-
The order that you currently have it in is fine. (This would be my preferred order as well for just these three)
-
Can you please update Intel Management Engine Interface?
I cant find it on the Intel driver website. -
Thanks, I removed the current version that was posted since the download link no longer works.

hey guys, I'm just about to receive my dv6t quad edition in the mail, and i had a quick question about fresh installing windows/reinstalling drivers. i followed the steps in this guide to create a USB windows 7 installer, and i'm planning to do a clean install. Afterwards, i'm planning to use this utility to back up the OEM installation. afterwards, i'm assuming I download the Drivers? do i download/install every driver except for the ones clearly marked as incompatible with my computer? any tips/tricks and difficulties that i should know about?
i'm kinda new to the fresh windows/install-every-necessary-thing, but i really appreciate any help i can get!!

Yes, or you can download the drivers before you perform the clean install and save the setup files to a backup source (such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive). That way, you can use them later in the event where you may have no Internet connectivity.
Yes. Before you perform the clean install, take a look at the Device Manager to see what you do/don't have. The specs that you provided above also provide good indicators as to what you do/don't need.
It may be daunting to do a clean install for the first time - but you won't regret it! Once you do a clean install, it will be easy to do again (if necessary). Best of luck, and please post if you do encounter any difficulties!
-
I'm confused with the description of the graphics drivers. If you have the SB envy 2xxx series with both the Intel HD graphics and the 6850m discrete card do you install both of them?
-
For the ENVY 17-2XXX series, only install the AMD Radeon driver - it includes the Intel Switchable Graphics driver.
The Intel HD Graphics driver is for dv6-6XXX / dv7-6XXX notebooks with integrated graphics only. -
Hey, thanks for this wonderful guide
I just purchased a dv6-6121tx and am about to do a clean install
I have one question -
Is it recommended to install the AMD Radeon driver package from HP itself or is there a 11.8 driver equivalent which supports the switchable graphics?
(I ask because I had a dv6-1154tx and it seems that HP don't really update the graphics drivers a lot and AMD keeps coming out with new drivers)
Thanks -
This question really interests me too... any ideas???
-
What I have done in the past, and it has worked for others as well. First, install the most up to date HP drivers for your build...get them from your support page...
Then, download the AMD Catalyst 11.8 drivers here:
AMD Catalyst 11.8 WHQL (8.881 July 28) - Download & Discussion - Guru3D.com Forums
You want the Mobility drivers
DO NOT uninstall your HP drivers. Leave them alone. Start the installation for the 11.8 cats...when given the choice...choose CUSTOM installation. Choose to install everything BUT Catalyst Control Center. This will update your drivers and other apps and leave CCC intact, as HP has written for Switchable graphics.
I have successfully updated my AMD drivers on my Envy 18 3D and my son's Pavillion dv7tqe. The HP version of CCC still will be contained and switchable graphics still works... -
Intel Rapid Storage Technology (SATA AHCI)
10.6.0.1002 >> 1022 current shipped on HP Envy 14-SB Aug 14 -
mine didnt give me the option to not install CCC. Do I uninstall the HP version and then reinstall it afterwards? The generic ATI installer said CCC was installed and up to date.
-
Did you choose CUSTOM install? You have to do a custom install of the 11.8's and NOT uninstall the HP version. Make sure the HP version installs correctly first...make sure that CCC runs...then do the 11.8's CUSTOM
-
Here is a snapshot of the custom install of the 11.8 from the link earlier:

What happens if you install CCC???
