    Hey guys,

Just wanted to say that I updated the original post with the following changes:

    03/29/2009
    • Updated Realtek High Definition Audio driver to version R2.20.
    • Updated LightScribe System Software to version 1.18.3.2 (thanks dannyres).

    03/30/2009
    • Added NVIDIA graphics driver version 179.67 for Windows Vista.

Please note that general discussion for these drivers is located at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=367300. However, if you've got a comment that is directly related to these drivers and these HP notebooks, feel free to discuss in this thread.

The driver is not currently offered on NVIDIA's website. It is currently being distributed through Microsoft Update.

All right, I've updated the original post with these new changes:

    04/05/2009
    • Updated HP Quick Launch Buttons to version 6.40.14.1 N (thanks dannyres).
    04/06/2009
    • Updated Synaptics TouchPad driver to version 12.2.2.0 (thanks dannyres).
    • Updated NVIDIA graphics drivers to version 179.71 for Windows XP.
    • Removed NVIDIA beta drivers.

I mainly removed the NVIDIA v181.22 beta drivers because they were not WHQL certified. The whole point of this thread was to post original drivers with WHQL certification (and is the reason behind removing them). I also tested the new Synaptics TouchPad driver, and found it to be specifically supported for these notebooks.

Please note that there are newer Intel wireless drivers now out (v12.3.2.1), but they are NOT compatible with the 3945AG and 4965AGN chipsets. That's why they are not posted.

HP DVD is the condensed (lesser) version of QuickPlay. Is your notebook one of the models in the series that we cover here? If the notebook is a Compaq or if it's an HP notebook that does not feature touchable media buttons, then HP DVD will install instead.

of course it is. it is hp dv9543ev (with quick launch buttons of course). it used to work with the full version but my motherboard was broken and i changed it. so i try to install on my new motherboard which is the same as the previous one but new.

i searched on the net for same problems and i found something about bios tatoo or something. i dont know what this is about or how to do it (any software maybe?). any ideas?

I don't think the problems have to do with the BIOS (or BIOS tattooing or logo). Try uninstalling and reinstalling QuickPlay and see if this works. Otherwise, not sure what else to say except that if you want to, try the new MediaSmart applications at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=354621.

(Note that MediaSmart is newer and replaced QuickPlay -- however, the QuickPlay buttons don't work with MediaSmart.)

What processor does your dv9000 use? HP has different BIOS releases for the Intel and AMD versions of the notebook.

If your dv9000 continually fails to boot, remember that you may be eligible for the Service Enhancement that HP provides. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us

my hp uses intel processor 7500 2.2ghz. its dv9543ev and not listed on hp webpage table (so is not included in the Limited Warranty Service Enhancement program). my hp has not warranty any more. so i want to do it myself. i am thinking of the cost and time needed too. please if you have the previous bios please tell me.

by the way lights, fan and power works but when i start my laptop only blank screen.does not enter bios or windows. do you know if this can be related to motherboard lock or something or destroyed bios (it seemed to be installed correctly though)?

thanks for helping me. i really need help.my laptop is dead without knowing why.

I won't post the HP software you provided here to the original post because they are not necessarily drivers, nor are they really required. :) Yet they may still be good for users who do want these updates. I am still working on the Essential System Updates; as of right now I am quite busy and still haven't had a chance to test it yet.

    04/23/2009
    • Added Broadcom Wireless LAN driver version 5.10.91.4 for Windows Vista

I would like to remind everyone to read the revised special installation instructions for ESU; the new versions of ESU do not natively support these series of notebooks.

Even though these drivers are compatible, they are not WHQL certified unlike the previous drivers that NVIDIA offered. I've tried them before when I found them on the NVIDIA CUDA website, and I originally did post these drivers labeled as beta. However, I took them off because of the fact that they were not WHQL (and the original post is all about WHQL certified drivers :)).

Another update to the original post has been made - for the first time in a while, new modem drivers!

    05/25/2009
    • Updated Motorola SM56 Data Fax Modem driver to version 6.12.25.4.

This driver has been released on Microsoft Update and on the Microsoft Update Catalog. Please note that this driver must be installed using the Device Manager - Update Driver wizard. It is also interesting to note that the driver INF specifically contains support for these notebooks.

It is also recommended that you first uninstall previous versions of the driver before installing this driver.

Thanks for the Broadcom Windows XP driver. :)

My laptop does not include an HP/AVerMedia integrated TV tuner unfortunately, sorry. However, there seems to be some users here who have one (which is why it's up on the original post). I have an external AVerMedia USB ATSC TV tuner bought separately though that I use only occasionally.

    Hey everyone,

As you may have noticed, this thread has a new title! Apparently I had forgotten that the drivers here are also supported by a lot of other notebooks produced back in 2007-2008. So, just an FYI -- the drivers here should now be compatible with Intel-based Compaq Presario V65xx-V69xx series notebooks as well as the HP Pavilion dx66xx series notebooks.

For forum users who have these notebooks, I urge you to bookmark or subscribe to this thread if you are interested in getting the latest driver updates. And for those who haven't used this before until now, welcome!

    hi justinkw1.

Latest Realtek High Definition audio driver is now R2.26. Versions R2.25 and higher are fully compatible with Windows Vista SP2 & Server 2008 SP2. I may install this on my cousin's HP dv6648se laptop before updating to Vista SP2.

Do NOT use the NVIDIA v185.85 video drivers if you are using Vista Service Pack 2. These latest drivers are causing all sorts of problems in Vista SP2 as noted in this AV Forum thread.

Don't upgrade to Vista SP2 if you have the NVIDIA v185.85 drivers installed on your Vista computer. wait for NVIDIA to make updated drivers that are fully compatible with Vista SP2.

Believe it or not, I found the same versions of those Ricoh card reader drivers in Dell's R215879 package.

BTW - The HP F.59 A BIOS update is required to improve performance of the built-in SD card reader in various HP/Compaq laptops, so update the HP laptop BIOS first before updating the Ricoh card reader drivers.

Thanks for the info on the Realtek audio drivers. I will be updating this.

As I had mentioned in the general NVIDIA v185.85 driver thread, I have not experienced any specific issues whatsoever with the v185.85 driver and with Vista SP2. Anyway, v186.03 is now out and will be put up on the original post. :D

Edit: original post is now updated!

The original post has been updated again with a new driver for Motorola SM56 Data Fax modems. This modem driver update is the first version to officially support Windows 7. Installation through Device Manager is required, and it is recommended that you uninstall all previous versions of the driver first.

    • Updated Motorola SM56 Modem driver to version 6.12.25.5.

    Original post updated.

    06/23/2009
    • Updated Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility to version 9.1.1.1014 (thanks dannyres).
    • Updated Realtek High Definition Audio driver to version R2.27.

Even though the Intel chipset software is originally meant for Intel desktop motherboards, the installation package will work correctly with these notebooks as well. Also, you can follow dannyres's advice and use the -overall flag when executing the setup file to ensure that all device drivers have been updated.

Edit: added Intel GMA drivers version 8.15.10.1730 for Windows 7. They originate from Microsoft Update and must be manually installed using the Device Manager's Update Driver wizard. For those who have Intel GMA, please tell me if this works! (I cannot try it since I use an NVIDIA graphics processor).

    • Updated HP Quick Launch Buttons to version 6.50.2.3 (thanks Gektor).

Edit: Added Essential System Updates version 6.00 A for Windows Vista SP1 users. Do not install this if you already have Windows Vista SP2.
