has any one receive windows 7 from hp yet?
-
I bought a laptop and recieved it two weeks ago. I applied for the Windows 7 update right away. I just got an email a couple days ago saying it was approved but no delivery date given.
I called the HP number in the email and they told me it would be about a month before it ships. The guy said they are filling orders from the summer first.
I don't know why they just don't have a download site--it would be faster.. -
I have two pending orders with them, one for Windows 7 Ultimate x64 for my HDX16t and one for Windows 7 Home Premium for my friends DV5. I placed these order on 09-01-2009 and just received another e-mail today stating these upgrades are NOT going to be shipped until at least 11-22-2009... This sucks for all of us early adopters but I guess we should have expected this after the whole Windows Vista fiasco... This is the last time I will EVERY buy a PC prior to the new OS release. Burned twice, shame on me I suppose...
-
The only email i've gotten about the Upgrade recently is the one saying I should have it between Yesterday and November 9th. I don't really care because I'm not using it anyway >_>;
I'm wondering if it comes with a Windows 7 sticker though~ -
I ordered mine approximately august 20th and just received an email that said i should receive it between the 9th and the 22nd
EDIT oops i meant 12th and 26th not 9th and 22nd -
Wow, if those of you buying laptops earlier in the fall or in the summer will not be getting Windows 7 until late November than I probably won't receive mine until after Xmas. Crazy...
-
lol yah i ordered mines in the summer as well man...
-
That's real crap. I mean, it should be easy to ship a Windows 7 package, is it a slave monkey that is working alone for that Arvato Digital Services or what? Why can't we download it instead, why can't we just take the package in store? Furthermore, the french version of their website is a complete mess : at least a mistake each sentence. I paid 1200$ CAD for my laptop, HP should have enough money to offer a more professional service.
-
if i order windows 7 upgrade kit for my friend's compaq cq61 which is eligible for this free upgrade, can i install it on my hp dv5?
-
I'm not a legal expert - but I would have to say that you could not install it legally. That said, the jury is still out
on what kind of hardware checks the restore DVD(s) will go thru when booted. My guess is that HP, and others, will have a fairly restrictive hardware check in place to prevent installation on other systems.
-
^ how do we confirm it?
it will be costing me 20 USD (handling and shipping) and i don't want it to go waste. -
wait what it should be free if u are eligible why would they be charging u?
-
^ shipping charges and media cost.

Well I guess that's just a lesson to all of us. However, we should realize that there's no real incentive for a manufacturer to expedite deliver on an already sold product. The only thing we consumer get from this experience is how well they keep their promise. Still, at this point it's really to soon to tell, especially when there's been no specific deadlines for delivery. Therefore, should we expect the standard 4-8 weeks to apply?
-
i got mail that i will receive my copy between november 12-26 soo ima just wait
-
when did u order ur laptop?

abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
I ordered the upgrade on September 8th, was approved on September 9th, and got an e-mail saying I should receive it between November 16th-23rd
-
dang haha i ordered mines sometime in july haha i dont think i received a shipment date
-
-
I applied for the upgrade September 22, when I bought my laptop. My arvato e-mail says that my upgrade kit will arrive between October 30 and November 9.
I don't know why the e-mail states such an earlier date compared to the delivery dates stated in this thread, but maybe I bought a business laptop? I bought a HP Compaq 2230S business laptop as opposed to a consumer class (dvx-xxxx) HP laptop. -
Funny, I didn't get a shipment date? All I got was an acknowledgment they received the order.
-
-
-
Here is what it said in my email
-
My status says POP Received: proof of purchase received by not yet validated; processed within 7 business days of receipt.
-
sorry to bear bad news but you will probably receive it later since you ordered it so late

I have been playing around with Windows 7 at work for over a month and, I must say, I really can't wait to install it on my DV7T!
I got my DV7T from HP in Sept of 08 and have been loving it. It's insanely spec'd and even with HP's Vista installation on it, it still flies. I did not have the time to redo the Vista install from scratch so i just uninstalled some of the HP crapware that came by default and i have been using my machine since.
that being said, as of right now, with microsoft word + IE open, my machine is running 87 processes and has 1.6gb of ram being used.... a default installation of windows 7 at work yielded only ~28 processes running and only ~500mb of ram used.
needless to say, i think if i installed windows 7 on this thing, im going to have the fastest computer in the world! LOL -
lol tight anyways umm when u get ur cd i believe there will be crapware from hp too
-
-
/off topic
totally agree with you about all of the advertising
lol im so ocd that i took about 2 hours to remove the dealer logos from my cars -
I've got my Windows 7 from HP last Thursday. It comes with 2 discs, a Windows 7 upgrade disc and a Drivers disc. I did a clean installation with the upgrade disc and install the drivers through the HP website. So far, it's going well.
-
Okay, but when did you send in you application?
-
End of July.
-
Does the disc you got from HP include all the crapware even when doing a "clean install"? Also, how did you get a disc with your drivers on it? -
-
is taking them soooo long. I was told that I would received mine between October 30 ~ Nov.9
I check my status on their orderering site, and it just says Accepted.
I am thinking of just dishing out my money and buying the windows 7 kit instead of this bs waiting game x___x -
Mine says:
This notification is to inform you that you can expect to receive your upgrade kit between November 12 and December 4, 2009. -
-
I got the win7 upgrade today. One funny thing it says upgrade media on the win7 dvd and on the product key label but i could still do a clean install from the win7 dvd and activate it. It's possible the product key and install dvd is a full oem installation dvd and product key.

Does it have any HP junk with it? And what about the drivers? How are they handled in all this. Do you then need to go to HP?
-
The upgrade disc is just pure win 7 OS. The other disc comes with the HP drivers. I got my drivers from the HP website though. More updated.
-
I still have some trial stuff on mine, but as soon as that expires I intend to update. (that is, if I have it by then?)
In any event, I'd like to have my OS (and video program as they work best when kept on different drives) separate from my storage device. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should go about doing that. Perhaps using the SSD configuration many people are taking about. Anyone do that with the HDX yet? -
update on my order:
I ordered august 20, and it finally (sometime in the last 3 days) changed from accepted to in progress, which means they are preparing it for shipment -
My email says that I should receive it between October 30 and November 9, but we're past that, and the order still just says "accepted" on their website.
-
I just received mine today (Nov. 14).
Here are the sequence of events in order by date:
Aug. 28 - I placed the order for the Upgrade.
Sept. 2 - My order was approved.
Oct. 14 - I received an e-mail from then to review my address before they shipped it out.
Oct. 22 - Microsoft launches Windows 7. (Just for reference)
Nov. 11 - My order was shipped out from Louisville, KC via DHL SM Parcels Expedited service. (I wasn't aware of it, I may have missed the shipping e-mail, or they may not have sent one.)
Nov. 13 - DHL transfers it over to USPS at a local USPS hub.
Nov. 14 - I receive the upgrade discs from USPS.
Any one receive windows 7 from hp yet?
