Hey guys, I currently own a HP Pavilion DV6T-3000, I have had it for about 2 years now, and it is in great working condition. Never had an issue with it, everything works extremely well, until recently I plug in the AC adapter to charge the battery. When I plug it in it says "Plugged in, not charging" It is usually at 70-80% charged, but I want it to go to 100%. EVEN when I turn off the computer and let it charge for like 3-4 hours it only does it to a maximum of 80% and not 100%. Not sure why and when I plug in the laptop it will charge until 75% or so and stop charging, I just want to charge it fully. How can I change that any one help out? I have been looking all over on google, and youtube solutions, tried several now and none of them work.

Thanks guys, hopefully someone will know the solution. My BIOS is up to date as well.

I had asked already in the HP Pavilion section, and I got no response, so I'll ask out here, maybe someone has had this same issue with an HP laptop.

I ran the HP Battery Check, and it says the status of my battery is OK. And it still does the same thing when it is around 80% it says plugged in, not charging. Someone please help? :( or any suggestions

Once that your battery is ok, maybe there is something wrong with your adapter. Have you checked whether your laptop power adapter is working? Meanwhile you may check the following article about this issue to get solution:

Welcome to ChargerBuy.com » How to Fix This Issue—-Laptop is Plugged in & Not Charging?

Another important aspact you should confirm is that the dc jack. Or your laptop dc jack is loose.

If you need to replace a new laptop ac adapter and if you are willing to get a third party one, the following charger is compatible:
Original HP Pavilion DV6 Smart AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A

Did you try a hard reset?

Take the battery out of the laptop, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and then power on the laptop with just the power cord. After windows loads slip the battery back in and the battery should start charging.

Well, my laptop charger is working, because I use it to charge my battery still, it just goes up to like 65% now only, and it says "plugged in, not charging". I even recailberated it, I think I did it right at least, just tried ruruliu, idea going to see if that works. This is really upsetting me, hopefully I'll find a solution to this issue.

    I mean I just tried C4RN1's idea.

Download hwinfo and check the wear level of your battery.

HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools

Install the program and once it loads click on the plus sign next to the battery, and then select the battery. It should show your wear level.

Sometimes you'll get batteries that don't show the wear level or show 0%. These batteries are damaged and need to be replaced.

You might just have a bad battery that can't charge past 65%. I recently bought a dell with an extended life battery that shows it has 85% when it completely dies. It will not power up the computer once the battery reaches 85% though you can charge it to 100% and you'll only get about 25 mins out of it. I ended up replacing the charging circuit logicboard and the battery and now the computer functions normally. Batteries just go bad and they don't always act as intended. You probably have a bad battery.

    Quick fix, worked for me!
I have Windows 7 on my laptop. It would only charge up to 80%.
I've tried a million things and finally found something that works!
In the "Search Programs and Files" search box, type in batterylifeextender
Here you can choose from normal battery life - fully charges to 100% or extended life mode (80% charge)

I have similar problem with hp dv6.
It WILL charge with the hp adapter (and run)
It will NOT charge with 2 different kensington adaptors (but will run)

Have done the stuff with battery check, its good, disconnecting battery and and deleting/reinstalling battery device in device manager.

It will run fine with other adapter, but refuses to charge. How lame is that?
