There is not a line dividing the cell. The Intel based dv6-6xxx & dv7-6xxx use the same file (F.1A) as the AMD based dv6-6xxx & dv7-6xxx use the same file (F.20).

A bit thick in the head?

This has happened to me before (on more than one occasion).

Close your web browser completely and fire it up again. Then try to re-download the file -- hopefully the error will no longer occur. :)

hello, im still confused with the F.27 bios for intel cpus on dv7 4xxx, in the S&D page for my dv7 4197cl, it only shows the F.23 as current bios

Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv7-4197cl Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

i heard the F.27 was removed due to issues on it, but hp still hasn's removed it from this page

HP Pavilion dv7-4100 Entertainment Notebook PC series- Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

is it still safe if i update my bios?? im having problem with the fan, it works more louder when lappy is plugged to AC than being used with battery, specially under load like gaming and HD video editing

It looks like HP did not update the specific support page for your model...F.27 is still posted and you can flash to it if you want. I'd say the list of fixes is significant enough, and I recommend that you execute the update.

Have a dv6-6135dx and i did this update hoping that it would add the bios option to change the graphics setup from dynamic to fixed, but it still hasnt added that.

Hello, I'v never manually updated my BIOS before, so i have a couple questions before I begin.

How do I know which model I have? I've searched my system information but all I can find is that i have a dv6qt.

also, other than install the update and restart my computer, is there anything specific I need to know about before updating?

Thanks in advance for any help.

There is a product sticker on the bottom of your notebook that you should look at. The product number (not the serial number) will help identify the exact model that you have.

My recommendations: before updating the BIOS, make sure that you close all open programs and that you are plugged into AC power. Also, disconnect any external peripherals (mice, flash drives for example) just to be safe.

I keep getting an "IHISI not support current bios" error every time I try to update. I'm certain that i'm using the right BIOS update and I am closing all programs but it's still not working.

Anybody know what the issue may be?

Could you provide your notebook's product/model number? I can check to see if you are using the correct update.

    • Added BIOS F.12 for dm4-2XXX ([IMG]).
    • Added BIOS F.02 for dv6-6bXX / dv7-6bXX ([IMG]).

The new dv6-6bXX and dv7-6bXX looks like it will be different internally, thus it will be placed on a new row for both Intel and AMD variants. The dv6-6XXX / dv7-6XXX category has been renamed to the dv6-60XX / dv6-61XX / dv7-60XX / dv7-61XX.

For the original dv2000 (AMD) -

    Version: F.3D
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp43501-44000/sp43666.exe

Please note that the BIOS above will not work on the dv2500 series or higher - a different BIOS is used for those models.

Not sure if anyone can answer that for you here. This thread is just for the BIOS releases from HP when they come out. May be that is something you will need to ask HP about, good luck getting an answer from them.

Seems that they took it down as it does not show up on the HP site and cannot download from here. I was going to still wait a bit before installing to see any problems were reported but it seems they found some in time.

Version F.1B has been released by HP - see the first post.

This update is a relatively minor one compared to F.1A; flash only if you are encountering the problems described in the release notes.

i do highly recommend to update ur old dv7 (4000 series) with the lastest F.29 bios, it REALLY improves the themal management, laptop now idles at 40-45 (i7 720qm here), and a normal usage (web + music + msn + word) laptop stay at 50-55.
