Mine says the 26th, but I'm hoping it's much sooner than that. I placed my order on the 7th, so I find 19 days to be absurd.

I wonder if the 26th ship date is generic - and they might ship sooner. Who knows. -
Are the SATA speeds for the HP ENVY 17-32xx 3D as follows:
mSATA: SATA 2 (3Gb/s) ?
Primary drive: SATA 3 (6Gb/s) ?
Secondary drive SATA 2 (3Gb/s) ?
Can you boot from the 750GB HDD (hybrid or regular) in the Secondary Drive slot?
I ask because I would like to add a cache SSD using the DataPlex Software and still boot from the Hybrid 750 HDD.
I remember reading (maybe in this tread) that they were as I typed above but I can't find a source now to confirm... Sorry if this is already answered in this thread but I can't read all 66 pages again... For reference I already checked the " Maintenance and Service Guide" and tried searching this thread and forum and couldn't find the answer (kept getting invalid search errors in both regular and advanced search)... -

I ordered mine on the 6th, still says its suppose to ship today, the 15th. No tracking or anything. I've been going on hp chat everyday to verify it hasn't been delayed, but they always tell me its on time.
-
I ordered on the 5th estimated ship date was yesterday and I just got off the phone with a rep that ensured me that my order hasn't been delayed and that the status hasn't been updated due to it being the weekend.
Have the individuals who have had their Envys delayed actually received emails saying that the product has been delayed or did a rep specifically tell you that it was delayed? -

Ordered the 3D on 8th, est. ship the 19th. <- its always shown the 19th too... at least i have hope that it'll ship early

Fedex just dropped off my new Envy 17. I'm in the process of installing windows on my SSD. It seems RAID is not supported...

Man can you guys post some pics or videos of this thing to tie me over until next week lol? This is my first Envy and there aren't any videos on Youtube of the Ivy Bridge model. I was hoping Maverick was gonna be able to upload his videos, but that didn't happen. I get really impatient waiting for stuff to be delivered, so this is torture for me right now. My previous laptop (HP dv8t quad) died the night before I placed my order, so I'm left with my Epic 4G Touch and my work PC to surf with

Here is my chat with hp today, so if it doesn't happen, I can use it:
Agent : "At this point in time, the status is still in Order in Production. This means that there's a component that is still currently being replenished."
Soldiersinx: "I want to know if it is finished being built, will it be guaranteed to ship today, that it is not going to be delayed to the 26th or so."
Agent : "You should not worry on this. The expected completion date building your laptop is June 15, 2012."
Agent : "You may be notified by the end of the day as soon as this gets ship out."
Agent : "You will be notified automatically as soon as it leaves the warehouse."
Soldiersinx: "Ok, thank you very much"
Agent"And that you will be provided with its tracking information."

Mine got pushed back to the 26th, so I just cancelled since I'll be moving around that date and who knows where I'll be when it finally arrives. Hopefully another good coupon comes out next month.

OK guys. The videos are up. Keep in mind these are my first videos, so be gentle.

I have two noises that I don't like. Can someone confirm or deny if they have it with their envy's?
1. Light "rattling" static noise. Let the computer idle for a bit, open c drive and see if you can hear the difference. If you have this noise it should appear briefly for 10 seconds. If you continue browsing folders the noise will stay. This doesn't appear to be HD noise. (I do have 750 one)
2. Power supply noise. I have PSU next to laptop and it has constant noise. -

In case anyone is looking to put a SSD into their new Envy, Newegg is going to have a great price on the 256gb Crucial M4 at midnight tonight. This is one of the fastest and most reliable SSDs on the market today, and a very good price.
256GB Crucial M4 for $179.99 and free shipping.

256GB Crucial M4 2.5" SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive SSD (CT256M4SSD2) $180 + Free Shipping *Starts 6/16* - Slickdeals.net
Personally, I'm going to wait a little more as the prices are dropping on SSDs like crazy. -

After 4+ hours on with tech support and several hand offs, It is verified that the Envy 17 3D does not support graphic switching. I get a little less than 2 hours battery life staring at a blank screen doing nothing. I guess if people are going to use this by an AC outlet or as a desktop replacement it shouldn't make a big difference to those people. I need more battery life so its getting sent back for a refund.
They also wouldn't match my prior coupon since they say technically nothing is wrong with the system. Just a heads up if you want them to match the coupon they said they would be able to if there was an actual system defect so just keep that in mind
I will keep an eye out for a new 33% coupon to me it just wasn't worth arguing over and I will keep searching maybe some other laptop out there will catch my eye. -
complain that u got a crappy 3d screen and the experience isnt good so u want the regular one -

Paying another $90 or so for twice the space was worth the piece of mind knowing I won't run out of space anytime soon.
If you use Steam, you know that it can get huge if you have a lot of games installed. -
Really?! Max Payne is 30gb on PC? Wow. I played that on 360, and it fit on two 9gb DVDs. I'm guessing you just have really high quality FMV videos on there, because many of the cinematics are pre-rendered (and mask load times very well).
By the way, you should use Steam Mover ( Steam Mover - traynier.com) to transfer the big games from your SSD to your HDD, if you start running out of space. -
I know about steam mover. I honestly don't think I'm gong to get close to 256gb of stuff, but I'd rather err on the safe side. $180 is very affordable considering how much they were gong for just 6 months ago. Don't forget that HP's recovery partition also takes up 20gb if you want to keep it. -
Hey Maverick777, what did you use to overclock the 7850m? MSI Afterburner doesn't want to work even after unlocking it. Neither does Trixx....
-
-
Alright envy team, i have a noob question: if i were to use a ssd as my main drive, and have the 750g hhd in the second drive slot, would i have to do anything to the hdd, or just put it in and save on it? never done this bother..

thanks... -

Received my Envy 17 3D yesterday. Ordered on the 4th, est ship was the 13th, so it got here early.
I had the 30xx for a few weeks before I returned it in January. It had some QC issues, but this new one doesn't seem to have any large issues. Did some gaming, but so far the laptop barely gets warm. The fan noise is much less than the 30xx.
I put in my SSD and moved the 750 as a secondary HD. I had an extra cradle ordered from HP back in January for the 30xx. A new install of Windows 7 and everything looks fine except for one thing. I cannot get Intel Wireless Display software installed. This may have to do with the issue where I don't have switchable graphics in AMD CC, even though I am using the drivers from the HP website.
Anyone with a 17 3D have the same problem with the HP Windows install or a fresh Windows install? -
Hard Drive Caddy & Cable for HP Envy 17 -3000 series (3xxx) [HP-ENVY-17-3000] - $27.95 : NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks
HP does preinstall the SATA cable though. So you won't need to install that. It's taped to the 2nd HDD bay. -
Yeah I said it! -
Thanks. Hopefully they work some stuff out. Thats some bs though! They really dropped the ball on this one. What was your configuration like? -
For a laptop with this much power, its absolutely ridiculous that the 3D doesn't have graphics switching. I was quite looking forward to utilizing the power-sipping Intel HD 4000 iGPU versus the Radeon.
If this isn't fixed by HP within the 21days after i get my Envy, RMA.
EDIT:
Guess it's time to make a twitter account and scream like a dying bird for their attention. A lot of companies are actively responding to complaints via that method -
Hate to break the news to everyone but the entire CTO build date estimate for the 17-32XX was basically a sham. Due to a problem in Thailand with flooding, a problem known by HP, there is a serious shortage of SSD drives and all of those who ordered CTOs with a configuration of an SSD won't be seeing our laptops for a long, long time. I ordered mine on the 4th in the morning and it was supposed to ship four days ago (the 12th), then got moved up to today yet there is still no tracking number because it did not ship on the 15th (which was actually the 16th in China, and a Saturday when nothing ships). I believe HP is stringing everybody along to boost 3rd quarter sales and from what I understand CTOs won't ship until July. If I am incorrect somebody with a CTO please tell everybody when you have actually order your and when you received it and did it include an SSD or plain HDD. Thanks and pissed of at HP for lying

So???? Am I wrong?

I do not understand. Who cares how long I have been on this site as if that qualifies anybody to be an expert and who cares if you have production delays through no-fault of "your own". Of course it is HPs fault as you do not promise a product you cannot deliver on. Did I, the consumer, demand it be delivered by the 13th, then the 15th, and now the 26th? You make a ridiculous argument and I am trying to think of a single justifiable reason a corporation can justify delays in production to products already paid for by the consumer. Please help me with your vast knowledge of consumer affairs by justifying a product which has been paid for being delayed without giving the consumer the reason behind such a delay or, a more precise (in lieu of shifting) completion date. It sounds as if the corporations is delaying cancellations which would occur for quite understandable reasons. If HP had notified me of a production date of the 26th (ha) back on the 4th of June then this would be my problem. I ordered my CTO on the first day of availability so what delay could be justified in terms of parts-on-hand? Did they hire a 1st graded to do a new sales model for predictive analysis of future sales? Perhaps the super-computer used for inventory comparison and calculation of build dates had a bad algorithm because it was infiltrated by the CIA working on a new generation suxnet virus.
Bottom line; there is no excuse for production delays on purchased products.
