Last year, Microsoft offered free Xbox's with Windows laptop purchases to students. I think it was to counter Apple's offer of a free iPod touch to students buying a MBP.

honestly both are good offers its just that atm i would rather have the touch than an xbox cause i already got one... but it doesnt justify for paying such high prices for a mbp. I would rather save that money and get a touch+ ssd for mylaptop :D :D

Yeah and add 10% more if you use an American Express Card (depending on your card). If only they would just release the refresh my daughter the student will be getting a new laptop, albeit my old one. :)

The free Xbox code is not stackable with any other coupon. So you have to choose the 33% or the free Xbox. 30 or 33% off will save a lot more than $200 for a free Xbox. Pretty disappointing. I want my cake and i want to eat it too Microsoft!

I had no idea how it worked. I was just going off of posts from last year and it apppeared that the Xbox was a Microsoft rebate and the HP used it's own codes.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.. I doubt they will release the refreshed envy before Friday when the 33% codes are due to expire. Will have to wait another 3 cycles or so for the 30% to come back around.

I wish HP would just get on with it already.. You can preoder one at Frys as it is.

Just thought you all may find this funny. Here are 3 machines: Envy-17 3D @ $1246, Envy-17 @ $1169, and the Dv7t Quad @ $1119. All configured as close as you can given option choices with the 33% code applied.

$50 buys you the Envy (over the Dv7t) without the better Ivy and better GPU, add another $70 and you get the Envy 3D still without the better Ivy and better GPU.

The marketing department has certainly made the pricing fun.

The 33% coupon absolutely does work and it appears the XBOX Coupon code only works on preconfigured Envy. HP's XBOX promo site says:

You are absolutely correct! I guess I meant since the coupon is worth $500 +/- and the XBOX worth $200 -- Take the coupon, buy an XBOX, and come out $300 ahead.

The 33% off coupon doesn't bundle with the $250 instant discount, while the XBOX360 coupon does, so the 33% coupon is worth something like $250. Still a great deal, but not that amazing, haha.

Looking at your sig, I don't think you're going to find a laptop under 5 lbs with a GTX 660m or equivalent. The most GPU I've seen packed into a small package was the 2nd gen Envy 15, which had the 5830 and was just over 5 lbs. That was a pretty good combo, but they don't seem to be as willing to do away with the ODD these days.

You can start being productive this week. HP waited for the 30% coupon to expire before releasing the DVt7 refresh. They will wait till at least Monday, so the current 33% expires, so all the "MUST HAVE IT NOWS" will pay top $. Then hopefully like last time the coupon "cycle" will roll two or three times and we get the refresh at the 30/33% coupon price unless the XBOX coupon does well. The HP bean counters have all the beans counted (and most of the beans). It's not their first show at the rodeo.

Another month! AHHH .. Well ASUS has their refreshed models going strong. I realize it is not at all the same "class" but the specs and price are fairly decent and this is more "gaming" oriented, matt screen, 4 dimm slots, very heavy, Et. Tiger Direct is having a OK price on this 17" and it comes fairly decently loaded except it doesn't have a 1920x1080 display. Come on HP -- The competition is making me pull out my wallet. Since you are however taking your sweet time perhaps you could integrate ASUS's great concept here, DETACHABLE FAN FILTERS. What a great concept to keep your rig cool over the long run.

    $77 Dollars Free Shipping

This seems to be the best deal I've seen yet. Reviewers pretty much indicate it will work in everything from "fruit" machines to HP's.

Its all good until you test the ram and find that its bad and have to return it, 2 or 3 times, with shipping,,,,,,,savings lost!.
Stuff like that I buy local so its easy to return when doing my errands.
Just got tired of faulty product..........

Its 1333 not 1600Mhz,,,,,,Check the prices for 1600's!.....................

To each their own but I have bought over a hundred sticks of Corsair from Newegg and never had a problem with any new stick. Look at the reviews... Out of 73 reviews 77% gave it 4 or 5 stars with the majority being 5 stars. That means there are hundreds more purchases out there that didn't bother to place a review as they probably had no problems. Some of the 2 and 3 stars where from people who don't even know what the acronym RAM stands for, not alone how to install a stick. I'm not trying to talk you into the ram but Corsair has the easiest RMA process going. I've returned 8 year old sticks only to be upgraded for free at no charge and the turn around time is fast as can be. Several places like BBuy and Frys give you the run around when trying to return or exchange it because they figured you overclocked it.

So for $77, lifetime warranty from Corsair, and DOA warranty from Newegg, I'll take the chances. What do I have to loose but may be 3$ in return postage in the event I get a bad stick. Just my opinion.. To each their own & I get your point but at this price for me it's a no brainer.

Again, to each their own but I have tried 1333 in a rig then put 1600 in the same machine. I could tell no difference running any benchmarks. Your results may vary but the majority of professional reviews indicate the end user on a laptop will not be able to tell any difference at all because of the other bottlenecks in the system. Most athorities say 1600 is a waste of cash unless you are just money bags. The money you save going with 1333 would be much better spent on a SSD or larger SSD guaranteed IMHO.. I mean really, a difference of 267mhz when you look at the X-fer speed of a 7200 rpm HD. Oh yeah, and if you add the 16GB option on HP's site at a cost of $466 you get 1333mhz. No hard feelings but I doubt anyone will be able to tell the difference.

to all of those that are wondering the price...

    New Products - Aquila Technology

    the envy 14 spectre is $2,067.12 (#419)

similarly priced envy 14 spectre in the hp shop is $1,399.99 (I think this is the closest configuration as described in the link description... this is late at night so i might have missed something)

    so a 47.65% markup

the new envy iis $2,406.66 (#152)

getting rid of the 47.65% markup we get ~$1260

for the price of a similarly configured envy 15

the envy 17 right now is $150 more than the 15

    so ~$1410 for envy 17

the 3d 17 is about $350 more than the 17

    so ~1760 for the envy 17 3d.

remember this is just speculation (mine) and this is the price i would estimate without the coupons of a similarly configured laptop

TRUE THAT! I meant no disrespect to AU4U as he/she knows their IT. I was just coming at it from another point of view.

I think this board needs to renamed something else than, "COMING SOON: ENVY 17-32XX Intel Ivy Bridge (AMD 7850M)" unless soon means when pigs fly :)

Well I hope your prediction is wrong. Seeing that the service manuals / maintanence guide & support pages are already releasing and some are up on US HP site showing the IVY (see link below), i'll place my guess a lot sooner than that. I'm still going with the week of June 4th after the big (lets get rid of all the old stock) 35% off NBP9634 coupon expires. :)
