I downloaded a file with that same name on 3/16/2012 (version 3.2.7.0).
IS_AP_STA_RT2860_D-3.2.7.0_VA-3.2.7.0_W7-3.2.7.0_RU-4.1.4.0_AU-4.1.2.0_112311_1.5.16.0WP_Free is the name on the present file at Ralink also.

I do not see the version 3.2.12.0 anywhere in that filename. Has anyone installed from the Ralink site recently? Very recent?

Has anyone installed fron the HP FTP the recent version (sp56942)? Can anyone confirm installed versions from the two recent link postings?

    Thanks in advance.

My Ralink does not have the identity sticker nor the label on the antenna side. I connected the antenna both ways, W and B and then reversed them. There were no difference in signal strength that I can detect. There is no question that the 2.4 Ghz band from the intel 1003 is much stronger than the 2.4 from the Ralink. For my use, on different floors the 5 Ghz band is worthless for me as the signal is too weak. I have to be in the same room as the router to use it.

I recently purchased HP DV7-6C70CA with current bios revision F.14.

    I have a couple questions.

    1. Where or how do you obtain the whitelist of working wifi cards for your current board?

    2. Will the Ralink RT3592BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi Adapter + Bluetooth
work on my current Bios Revision F.14

    Thanks

Why would HP even bother with a whitelist like this? :(

    Hi ,new user here .

I spotted this thread doing a search for a ralink wifi adapter for my laptop and it appears to have some of the info i need but i need some clarification on a few points .

I have bought a compaq presario cq57 with a Ralink RT5390 b/g/n adapter in it and to be quite frank it is absolutely pants ,constantly fluctuating between 2Mbps and 54Mbps and never above .Reading about this adapter i note a lot of complaints about the speed and stability .I would like to change the adapter to another one that is on the whitelist

    Atheros AR9002WB-1NGB 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR ComboAdapter (BT3.0+HS ready)593127-001

    Ralink 5390GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi Adapter 630703-001

    Realtek 8188BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter 602993-001

    Realtek 8188GN 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi Adapter 640926-001

I am not bothered about bluetooth but just want a card that will give me reliable speed upto 150 Mbps .I should also mention that my model laptop only has 1 antenna installed .I have noted that people have tried the only 2 channel adapter (realtek)available and it has worked ,would i be able to install that one or would i be better going for the Atheros or Realtec ones.

    thanks for any help

Hi - I have a DV6T-7000 Quad and found that both the 6230 and 6235 work. The 6235 will give you BT 4.0, and 2.4/5Ghz Wifi - which is what I wanted. HP does not offer a dual band WiFi Card when you order. You can find it for $25 delivered (Cont US) with a bit of searching.

    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6235

Hey, do you need a modded bios for the Intel Advanced-N 6235 card? I have a hp dv6t and want to update my card to an intel one with BT without having to use a modded bios? Will it work for my laptop? Thanks

Found latest version of Ralink / Motorola Bluetooth + High-Speed Adapter BC8 driver version 4.0.4.334.

    Free Driver Download for Realtek Motorola BC8 Bluetooth 3.0+HS Adapter - Hewlett-Packard HP ProBook 4530s (103C_5336AN/A0000402- SKU:A1D47EA#ACB)

I also uploaded the file myself without having to registrate on Driveridentifier homepage.

    slate-driver-s1081-win7-bluetooth-4.0.4.334.zip download - 2shared

P.S. The driver is newer, works on my dv6-6bxx with RT3592, however bluetooth still does not work with Nokia PC Suite :(

I bought one of the $14 cards from eBay (630813-001) but the signal strength on 2.4ghz (as others have reported) is pretty weak.

Sometimes I'm all the way down to 1 or 2 bars when I'm at the other end of my apartment, which is weaker signal than I was getting with the Intel 1030.

Anyway, it got me thinking, how to determine if the card is actually even genuine??

Here are some pics of the front and back of the card.
It doesn't have the same label on it as the cards some others have posted on here. Notice mine is lacking the black label with the black/white arrows to indicate antenna position, etc.

I've tried reversing the antenna cables, and it didn't make a difference that I could notice. I don't know if they are properly connected or not as I can't find anything on the card which specifies which is Antenna 1 and which is Antenna 2.

I also had a couple of occasions where the wireless connection dropped entirely and I had to reboot to get it back. That hasn't happened for the past few weeks though.

Does anyone else have a card that looks like mine? And if so, how is yours working?

Hi, I was hoping to follow up on whether the Wireless card worked with a different BIOS than the one the listed on the OP of the dual band wireless card thread. Did your wireless card work with your version of BIOS?

Hi! I too bought the same card from ebay for USD14. The wireless card running on my dv7-6c00tx (BIOS 19) gives a flunctuating signal quality on 2.4Ghz channel. Sometimes, it gets worse and disconnect randomly. The 5 Ghz channel is even worse, registering about 1 to 13Mbps. This card performs badly compared to the original 1030-N. How is the signal quality of the Intel centrino 6250 and 6235 card?

Sorry to re-open this thread guys, but I have a quick question. I have a HP Pavillion DV6Z-6100 CTO Quad Edition that has the Broadcom 4313 in it. Are there any supported wireless cards that will help me connect at faster than just the standard 72mbps? Thanks

Confirmed working on a HP Pavilion dv6 6c98sa.

Windows 8 automatically configures and sets up the card but if you want to use 5GHz you need the updated drivers from Ralink-A MEDIATEK COMPANY, I also used the Bluetooth drivers from a link earlier in this thread.

I purchased from an authorised HP reseller, the part number I used to order was 630813-001. On the WLAN card it also has 629887-001.

I'm very glad to see so many positive responses to this card working fine.

I was growing quite frustrated with the narrow white list for my HP dv6-6145dx. But then the F20 BIOS update finally opened things up. The white list now includes this card, while the manual has still not been updated as of this posting. I was going by the manual, so it was driving me down the road of seeking to modify my BIOS. Alas... the RSA signed BIOS means "forget about it." Some enterprising hackers have actually figured out some of the RSA algorithms and even managed to make a modified BIOS for the F21 (sp54724). But many of the user reports turned up with issues not long after what would have appeared as a successful BIOS flash. One person said they had to unplug their CMOS battery once every 3 hours! Ultimately, a BIOS modification would lead down a risky, slippery path that would end up being worse than before it started.

If there's one thing that helped me during the BIOS mod investigation, it was the generated whitelist report. In the one I ran, the RT3592 was listed. I couldn't make out exactly what the part number was, as I couldn't see it in the ROM via hex editor, but after searching around it appears that the only RT3592 part recognized for HP laptops is 630813-001. And I'm glad to see that the part appears in this thread.

So I've ordered this WiFi card from one of the faster shipping sellers in China and hopefully it'll arrive without too much delay. If it works, then I'll be set for a while... and when I get around to my next laptop, I will ONLY consider HP if the white list fiasco has finally been put to rest. I had to learn about it the hard way and... I'm just floored at this kind of business practice. Despicable.

I'm new here, but have read this entire thread. I recently purchased a new router that is dual-band. After-the-fact, I discovered that my HP laptop has a wireless card that is NOT dual band. It contains a Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter. You can imagine my disappointment....

The irony here is that my wife has an older/cheaper HP laptop (HP G60-441US Notebook PC)...which has an Atheros ar5009 802.11a/g/n wifi adapter (dual-band). I don't get how that works....

Anyway, I need to know if the Ralink RT3592BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi Adapter + Bluetooth (#630813-001) that everyone has been talking about here is compatible with my machine (please see my laptop specs at the end of this post).

There is also a newer BIOS firmware update available for my computer, which I'd like to use. Here's the BIOS info:

    *2013-01-29, VersionF.1C, 7.73M (I'm currently running F.1B)
    * http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp60501-61000/sp60655.exe
*Fix/Enhancement: Optimized the memory settings to improve the reliability of the memory system.

So basically, I need to know if the Ralink card will work on my computer, and if the latest BIOS (F.1C) forbids using this wireless card in my system or not. I've read about 'whitelists' alot here, but still am not sure how to 'find them' in a BIOS. If someone has access to the 'whitelist' for this latest BIOS, that would be very much appreciated. I'm also assuming that if an item is listed on a 'whitelist', then it won't work on your computer.

I'm aware that this card is widely available for cheap on Ebay. But I was thinking of paying more money to buy it from HP (I'd rather play it safe). Any 'cons' to me buying it from HP (besides the price...and assuming this card works in my system)?

As you can see, they've opened up alot more support for the use of this card in more laptops (underlining and bold font were my doing under the 'ENHANCEMENTS' category). Fyi, I purchased the part directly from HP. I didn't want to take any chances.

I haven't updated my BIOS to F.1C yet. For now, the Wifi card is working with F.1B. Maybe I'll get brave and test it out soon.... I also haven't tested the Bluetooth, although the HP Bluetooth software installed flawlessly, and it appears to be working. Again, maybe I'll test that soon, too. But it looks like nobody is reading this thread anymore.............>

Thanks to everyone who posted the great information in this thread. It's ridiculous that HP makes this info so hard to get!

Hi All, some good news for those considering using the BIOS F1C - I have a HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition on which I had already upped the BIOS to F1C, saw this thread a few weeks ago, bought the card (a new pull) for 5 quid (UK money) installed it using the driver sp56036 and bingo, followed the instructions above and I'm happily typing this post

Thank you for all the pointers guys, couldn't have got hear without you all

    Regards

    Lirff

Excellent! Mine has been working flawlessly ever since I installed it. I didn't upgrade the bios, so I'm still at F.1B, but with no issues. I may up my bios to F.1C soon. Can't remember what the difference is between those 2 bioses, so I'll have to do some more research. Then again...I might just leave well enough alone ;) Cheers!
