Yeah, i dont think so dude. You should try a dedicated gaming rig from Alienware or Sager for a game that heavy on the GPU. :p

Do you think this with two GTX 485Ms will be able to handle it or no?

Perhaps, but if you want good fps get a desktop with 3 way GTX 580, then perhaps you'd be able to play at medium with decent fps.Lol.
OK, now on a serious note, I had my mind set on the XPS 15 with its awesome speakers and screen. Now i am kind off confused after reading the fps the 6770M can get. It is pretty much a gaming rig class GPU, and it is very tempting. Do you guys think it is worth loosing the better screen? It also lacks a backlit KB and i love those(have one my studio 15 and could not imagine living without it)

In my book, the fact that playing in native resolution will guarantee longer battery life, faster FPS, and future proof for future games due to native resolution, had me sold. The screen is really that bad. I don't see why people are complaining. And in the end, there is a really high chance that you can swap out the screen manually if you really really REALLY want to.

Wait, what is the dilemma here about the screen?

Home gaming: get a screen, you ain't going anywhere anyway.

On-the-go gaming: "bad" screen means higher fps with less juice = longer gaming.

Best of both worlds, why complain about perfect compromise?

It is not so much about the fullHD screen as the 95% colour gamut of the Dell screen. The Hp screen literally pales in comparison. I really dont mind the lower resolution.

    Yea, should I not be?

I'm thinking about repasting, but I'd have to wait a month after my finals/mcats are over. I am just wondering if the temps I've been getting is normal or not.

I have a request, could anyone try the original Crysis.
Also how bad is the screen really? I currently use a 1080p on my Studio 15. Will it be a big downgrade?

    How about this one-

    HP dv4- 3016tx
Genuine Windows 7 OS Home Basic Edition
Intel Core i5-2410M (2.3 GHz and Max Turbo Speed up to 2.9 GHz, 3MB Cache)
    Intel HM65 Chipset
Dedicated 1GB DDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6750M Graphics
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (1 x 4 GB) RAM
    500 GB Hard Disk
    DVD Writer
14.0″ inch High-Definition LED HP Brightview Display
    1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, 1 RJ45 Connectors
    Multi-Format Card Reader
    Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone
    Full size island-style keyboard
    Gigabit Ethernet LAN
    Wireless 802.11 b/g/n + Bluetooth
    6 Cell battery
    Weight: 2.22 kg
    Dimensions: 23.8 x 34 x 2.81 cm

720p on a 14inch wont look bad at all. But I am a little concerned the 6750m would be too big of a downgrade. How does the 6750m compare to the gt540m on a XPS15. Should i just get the XPS 15 instead

6750? is that new because I thought it came with a 6770... The 6770 is on par with the XPS17s GT555m so it is plenty better than the 540m.

    My 2 cents...
    Probably not 64-Bit Windows
i5-2410 cannont touch the i7-2630QM (see PassMark Software - CPU Benchmark Charts)
HM-65 - if this is a quick ship - maybe the B2 version? (Hardware failure problems)
6770M (is worth the difference and the wait, if you can)
    8GB (paired 2x4GB wouldn't go any less)
500GB HDD (because it doesn't say 7200rpm, proably not)
14" (LOVE IT, wish I could get my specs on a 14)
    Weight 4.85lbs (Outstanding!)

IMO I would buy it if it cost no more than $900, had 7200rpm HDD, and a 2630qm, u can upgrade the ram for $80. The dual core is the killer for me. Gaming view here though, if not a gamer I would go for it if a traveler. Personally I am a traveler and a gamer and went with the specs in my signature.

Yeah, My M9750 with Radeon 3870 plays it max 1440x900. Jw. Any tips on getting the best price? I have one I can order for like $900 with 2630QM, 6770, 6GB RAM, 640GB HDD, both batteries, and Bluray. Good, or is there a new coupon code I don't know about.

It's good i got mine at $987 w/ tax. Don't upgrade to 750GB HDD because RPM is @ 5400rpm and 640GB is 7200RPM, and correct me if i'm wrong :D

No, the 6750m isn't too big of an upgrade. It should only be about 30% faster than a 540m, or 10% slower than a 555m. It should be a close match to a GT 550m. Since the 6750m is a downclocked 6770m, it should be able to easily beat the 555m if you want to overclock it, but an overclocked 6750m might be too big of an upgrade, if there is such a thing.

I'm not sure how good the hp stock paste is but repasting made a huge difference for my old asus g73jh. It lowered the max gpu temps by 15C, going from 95C to 80C.

So there are no stickers that will break when tearing down the laptop into pieces etc? I suppose the new paste should at least have the same colour :D

The standard paste is probably grey-ish. And I'm pretty sure that there are no seals because ripwind took his apart with the intent of returning it later. If you stay organized, then repasting shouldn't be too hard.

That's not what people have been saying from the asus gaming forums. Plus IC diamond is a lot easier to apply compared to AS5 and doesn't have a curing period.

Yea you just need some isopropanol to clean off the old paste and 1 tube of IC diamond can be used for like 3-4 repastes probably.
