Yea even if I get $100 for it on ebay thats another 100 off my price so I am happy. Your better off getting the slice battery if your just trying to hit $1399 for the coupon. Its an item that will sell easy. I had no use for the higher end I5 chips or the 8gb memory. The added speed is not enough to notice and I dont even know what the added features do so... I have been watching slice batteries on ebay and they all sell around $150 for the envy someone in this forum already offered to buy mine 10mins ago but I wanna take my computer around first and see if battery life is good enough as is first.

Yeah, I don't see the need of a 130MHz bump in processor speed for an additional $150. You just won't see or be able to tell the difference in 130MHz. I'm just trying to figure out if the slice battery is really that important/cracked up to be.

my though was that i could always get the slice later, even if used from ebay.
Same goes for the ram and the HDD , i can always change these easily and cheaper.
And I didnt see myself changing the CPU, it's more risky/tricky. So I opted for options that cannot be easily replaced => the best non-i7 CPU and the radiance display.

Hopefully the i5 580 is not a power hog . According to wikipedia its a 35W like any other i3 and i5, so I should be ok.

ah true I actually was going to do that also. But on the other hand the 3 big differences in chips dont do anything for the average user. The speed difference is not noticeable and I have no idea what the other stuff is so its really like I am paying for nothing if I went that way. At least this way I get a slice. The only other way to hit $1399 was memory upgrades but they seem to be over priced after 4gb one stick.

You get the below if you went to the other I5's but no clue what they are.

intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)
    Intel Trusted Execution Technology
    AES

i called HP to get the coupon over the phone and they said they have no radiance displays left (it's not an option on the website anymore either).

and, he said they have not been able to get any for months - i wonder if all the people who ordered it over the past few days will have their orders rejected.

    let us know.

I'm no attorney, but that would be highly problematic for HP. They would have to seriously offer some high compensation to those who ordered the Radiance screen. I wouldn't worry though..... I am sure HP will honor those orders, and if not, they might get more money off, or other upgrades. HP is cool lately. :) Other companies should take heed.

My take is that they somehow got some leftovers, wanted to get rid of them with the $500 off coupon, and turn the page. Hope they somehow find another supplier for such high-end displays.

They would not offer the radiance if they did not have it in stock nor have a contract with a supplier.

I think it was a test run to see how well it would sell, but the original contract had limited quantities.

In fact, considering how fast it went, I would not be surprised if they offer it again at a higher premium.

when i contacted them again they said whoever ordered radiance online would get it. not sure what they other guy was on about. but they did say they had trouble getting more.

if you call hp they will still give you 500 off though. i order the envy 14 and i upped the processor to top i5 core, upped RAM to 8 gb, upped hard drive to 640, and took a second battery. total was 1425, or 925 after the guy on the phone took off 500.

925 for all this (even though i wanted the radiance) is still an amazing deal. a 14 inch asus bamboo is 999 on amazon, with less ram, less processor, less HD and downgrade on graphics card.

the envy fully kitted up minus radiance at under a grand is still a sweet deal. call to get 500 off before that is gone too.

Crap. My order hasn't been authorized yet because PayPal is being retarded and having troubles.
I ordered my Envy 14 with a Radiance display...

I really hope I still get one! I'm going to be pretty upset if I boot up my Envy only to see a generic Brightview...

God I hope my order isn't rejected. The radiance is the only reason I ordered one...

if your order says "in production" then you're in the same boat a everyone else. It says that until it ships, which usually is at least a weak. You should be fine.

GUYS IF YOU ORDERED A RADIANCE SCREEN, HP WILL DELIVER A RADIANCE SCREEN. What's with all the worry? LOL.

That csr has no clue what he is talking about and probably didn't read the memo.

I agree with you, but hp did replace radiance screens w/ BV when people had defective ones. Of course this is when the radiance wasn't offered anymore.
