I ordered June 8th, shipped on June 13.

I believe someone said all computers ordered from their site (customized or not) take 5-6 days to ship.

I ordered mine on this 12, i used the 30% off coupon, Today i saw in the coupons section, there s another one around with $400 off. Can i reapply this coupon. My order is still in its building phase. HP Customer Support is so lost on this topic, took them ages to check their resources and still couldnt give me a satisfactory answer. I LL APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP.

    cheers to Dv 3

Hey guys before i buy the dv3t, I have a couple questions.

    Does it get uncomfortably hot?
How much is the battery life affected by the dedicated card?
Is the fan noisy at all? (how would this be affected by the dedicated card?)

Also, can you use a SATAII ssd in this?

Is it just me, Windows 7, finger print reader, or my firefox that is makes me have to log into anything over and over again.

For example - if I swipe my finger print to log into yahoo mail w/"remember me" option selected, it doesn't work. Each time I visit, or perhaps go to standby and come back, I have to login again. This is the same for every site I go to: notebookreview, fatwallet, yahoo mail, etc etc...

is this a security feature on Win 7? Or is this my fingerprint reader software? Or is this firefox (i doubt it's firefox). How to disable this?

That's a sad excuse for a review. I could have told you all the information on that page and in the video without having seen a dv3t physically. The video and "review" is just the specs of the laptop.

Thanks for reminding me about the specs I ordered, I was about to update it in my sig.

    Here they are:

    • Espresso Black
    • Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    • Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)
    • 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G 105M
    • 13.3" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP LED BrightView Infinity Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    • [For BrightView Infinity Display] Webcam + Fingerprint Reader
    • Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth
    • Full Size Backlit Keyboard
    • 9 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    Total Price with Tax: $1085.67
    Used 30% off coupon.

I ordered on June 14. HP roughly build notebooks like these on average in 5 days. My status to this moment is "Order dropped off at the factory," which means it's about to undergo the production process. HP usually has a 10-day production estimate just in case orders are more than usual.

No need to be anxious. I know some who have the dv3t and have used it myself. It's a great machine, so I bought it just hours before the coupon expired. You'll enjoy it very much!

Yes you can call to cancel so you can redo the order. The representative should come back and say, "How about we give you a $70 credit back to your credit card for you to keep the current system." If that makes up the difference from the discount then you're good to go.

Alright, I'm more or less certain that this is my next laptop. However, just a few questions:
    - Does HP ship overseas? On the Australian HP store:
    http://h20386.www2.hp.com/AustraliaStore/Product.aspx?pdetail=P76159&pid=C64657&
There seems to be little to no customization options, and I'm not sure whether coupons work. Is it worth it to import, and do HP do that?

    - Are there any really good photos comparing white and black colour? Perhaps I should just try and see them in real life?

    - Is there a noticeable difference between the 2.53 and 2.4 GHz P series processors?

    - The infinity screen seems like a gimmick. Is this true?

HP USA does not ship internationally, you will have to provide a shipping and billing address in the US. Any import you would have to do it on your own. Also, there might be warranty issues even if you buy the laptop in the US and have it shipped to Australia.

As far the processor, the only difference between the P8600 & P8700 is the clock speed, the 2.4GHz should be perfectly fine for most uses. personally I wouldnt go for the infinity screen, the clear glass/plastic makes the reflections from the glossy screen even worse.

Right, so the infinity screen is a gimmick, and I probably don't need to angst too much that the Australian HP store doesn't have the 2.53 CPU. Thanks miner.

Does anyone know any coupons for the Australian store? I'd really love to save several hundred dollars.

Does HP offer any student discounts for this computer? Also, does anyone have a guess at how long the free upgrades will be offered?

I'm pretty sure this is the laptop I want but I probably won't be able to get it until late July/early Augest.

They have an academic program that gives you like an additional 8% off I believe. It's better not to use it and just wait for a good coupon to come out because a lot of the coupons I tried won't work when you're using the academic program discount, but they'll work if you're not in the program. It saves you more money. With the program, you get about 24% total with the other instant savings vs 30%-40% you'd save using a coupon code. The coupons seem to come out once a week too, so I'd wait to you see a really good one. HTH! :)

By the way, I read a review on the dv3500t and there were apparently some issues in the build quality sector. Can anybody comment on this? Any flex? Feel cheap?

The latest one was $450 off a 1$099 and up system, which would save 41%. Of course it'd be less percentage off the more your computer was though.

just got mine =) can't wait to go home with it.

    - Moonlight White
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T9550 (2.66 GHz)
    - 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - FREE Upgrade to 320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    - 512MB NVIDIA GeForce G 105M
    - 13.3" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    - Webcam Only
    - Wireless-G Card with Bluetooth
    - HP Color Matching Keyboard
    - High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

used 30% off coupon and 15% cash back from bing

if you are looking to get 2.4Ghz, and don't want to wait for another 30% off coupon, there are actually pretty good deals on ebay. use a 10% off coupon from ebay (i.e. CPPEBAY2324), plus 8% from bing, 2.4Gz+4G RAM+geforce card could be right around $800.

I'm returning my dv4t and getting the dv3t once I'm credited back my money and a good coupon comes out. I really like the dv4t, but I still wanted something smaller, and I wanted to change some specs. From looking at everything, the dv3t seems like it would make a good replacement. :D

Just to have you know, the 13' isn't that much smaller at all. Think about it, dv3t is a 13.3 and I believe the 4t is at 14.1. It may very well run cooler or what not, but if you have the dedicated tv tuner on the 4t that you like, you do lose out by switching.

I didn't have a tv tuner on the dv4t. The main reason for switching is that I wanted to change some of the specs on my computer. I was kind of having regrets after I ordered because I didn't get what I wanted, so I just decided to go ahead and send it back.

Good review. After reading and watching I'm really starting to question whether or not I'll miss those extra 32 vertical pixels. It doesn't seem all that smaller. What made me think though was the fact that horizontal resolution gets bumped to 1366 pixels. This can be very useful for side by side viewing or inapplications that could utilize the extra horizontal space. Photoshop comes to mind right away.I really want this laptop for travel but I'm waiting for HP to release the backlit keyboard in moonlight. And a really nice coupon.

This machine definitely has me excited though.

Just to say that I'm real impressed with this laptop, since it is the only 13" notebook I've seen that comes with a Blue-Ray option while others default at DVD standard. Hope HP bumps the RAM options to a DDR3 one and adds Firewire in the near future. :)

This is typically the best time to buy a computer. Back to school sales. You may not be able to order a custom built one, but the ones that are at retail stores usually are well optioned.

Of course watching for close outs is always good.

For some reason HP dropped the DV3Z (AMD version) a few months ago. Lots of brand new ones on eBay selling for cheap !

I have a feeling that HP has kissed FireWire good buy in favor of eSATA as there is not FireWire on the DV2, DV3, DV4 or DV5 For backup, eSATA is definitely faster, but most video cameras still come with FireWire.

You can pick up a PC Card to FreWire adapter on eBay cheap.

As posted earlier, Try the code NB9084 to get $250 off the DV3T when you configure it to $999.99 or higher. You can have a $1000+ machine for a lesser price. :D

It's still good to have eSATA as a standard feature on the HP laptops, since it allows for higher transfer speeds than your regular USB 2.0 connection (Can't wait for the USB 3.0 though :) ) I'd really fret if they don't have one (As with the case of the new U series of ASUS...no firewire, no esata :( ) But I guess that with Firewire handy enough to be fitted on to a PC Card, it's not that of deal breaker isn't it?

IMHO USB3.0 is going to be DOA. Too expensive. Weird cables (with the right USB 3.0connector, you use USB 2.0 cables but you get USB 2.0 speed). With USB 2.0 and eSATA all ready here, who need USB 3.0 ?

No, but I've got to believe that FireWire on a PC Card is a lot slower than native FireWire.

USB 3.0 is bound to be out by 2010, but I think we'll see it in high-end notebooks first and maybe another year or so before it gets to the mainstream market. But the max speed of 5 Gbit/s by the 3.0 is really spectacular. Frankly, I'm satisfied with the speed of 2.0, but I'm always thinking it could be always faster. :p At least the PC card will let me have Firewire. :D

Hope HP incorporates the new 200M series GPUs to the DV3T (I'm betting it to be either a 210M or a 230M). I recall this is one of the few models sporting the 100M series when they first came out, while other notebooks are still left with 9 series.

Anyone know about other DV3T coupons than the one I posted?

I'm satisfied with 2.0 speeds too. I think the biggest disappointment with 3.0 is the necessity of a new port.
