I used the base price to compare what the difference was and it turns out the base price is $50 more now than it was before when I ordered it.

Has anyone ordered the dv6t QE with the unspecified 2gb graphics card and received it yet? I'm receiving mine at the end of the week and was curious which card was being shipped (6770 or 7690).

I did. It is suppose to arrive on the 11th but it says there is a delay. I was told that it would be a 7690M not XT.

What's the performance difference between the 7690M and the 7690M XT?

That's good news! I ordered the same thing on 1/5 and it's already shipped. Hopefully I got the same thing.

Is it confirmed that the 2gb option is the 7690M XT?

Yes, The HD 7690M XT is the 2GB version. Guys, im new here does the new HPs you guys have overheat, does the fan get noisy, shut down when doing normal tasks. does it look like you can fry eggs on the machine. I'm trying to get the AMD Quad-Core a8 2.0-2.7ghz, does anyone have an AMD Quad? Thanks.

So is the 7690M XT better than the vanilla 7690M?

I ordered my dv7 laptop on the 9th, just received it from FedEX, and I can confirm that the 7690M XT is what I have. As govtdog asked, is it better than the regular 7690M? And if so, by how much?

The AMD version can easily do the same thing @ 2.4+ ghz.

Where do you feel the heat though? at the vent or palm rest/whole machine?
The fan is noisy once the comp reach 60C , It is just loud compare to my all other laptop.

I believe that 7690M XT is the same as 7690M but with slightly overlocked frequencies at factory settings. Somewhat similar to what 6770M is in comparison to 6750M. So it will be definitely better out of the box. I'm not sure how much better it would be if both cards reach their overclocking limit ceiling, needs some serious testing.

Sad thing is, that at least some of those who bought brand new DV6/7s with the mystery 1Gb GPU are getting the 7470 which apparently is just a renamed 6490... the GPU they were using prior to the 1Gb 6770M. Seems rather strange that the way to get a better/faster DV6/7 is apparently to buy a used or refurbished unit instead of a new one - and then use the saved money to kick it up another notch by upgrading your screen to 1080p and add a SSD. :D

Wasn't there someone here that said you needed to change something in the BIOS to get the 2GB GPU to work properly? How do you tell if it's just working off the integrated or the dedicated GPU?

I am one of the unfortunate ones who ordered a DV6T with the 1 Gig GPU and got the crappy 7470 GPU.
It's frustrating because I knew that there was a mixup prior to placing my purchase (1/3/2012 was the order date) so I called AND chatted with sales reps who both assured me I would recieve either a 6770 OR a 7690M GPU.

I am assuming they wanted to make the gap between the 1Gb and 2Gb options larger because with the 6770M the conensus was to save your $$$ and not order the 2 Gb option. Sucks, cause now I need to return my laptop that I waited 2+ weeks to receive...
Has anyone else in this situation gotten HP to just send out a GPU?

Won't work. The GPU in the dv6 is soldered to the motherboard.

When I see what is happening to those who ordered back when I was ready to buy my 2nd of 3 notebooks, I realize how damn lucky I am to find the used DV7-6178us for $560, when I did. I was ready to pull the trigger on a new DV7, at a MUCH higher price, with the 1Gb unnamed GPU hoping that it would be the 6770 or 7690, when I decided to grab this notebook off Ebay instead.

As it turns out, the DV7 I got has the GPU which is now the rebadged 7470. For HP, what was Old is apparently, now New again? :(

Still, I am so happy with my new used HP laptop regardless of the price, that my final new laptop(3 of 3) will be another DV7, either new from HP with a 7690 variant or better, or a refurbished or used model with the now old 6770.

So, hang in there fellow HP buyers.... hopefully HP will get it right sooner, than later, and dang... also keep those coupons coming! :D

Maybe he ran 06 without TurboBoost. Btw, i envy 7690M XT can be overclock so high without voltage modding.
