Well ~ 7CD's per single layer DVD, so you do the math. It'd probably be quicker and less cumbersome to run to the store and buy a five or ten pack of DVD's than to have 25-28 CD's and have to babysit the whole process. Imagine if you lost just one of them or even one went bad? You'd be fubar.

TwoFingerScroll-envy14-v0.01.zip
it also doesn't work perfectly now that I've played with it more (one finger stationary, the other moving to scroll it)
depends on the pressure you use for the other finger, etc
two finger scroll works fine -
Just did a clean install, I believe someone asked this before but I couldn't find the post and It's not on the first page. The "PCI Simple Communication Controller" isnt recognized, what driver should I install for this?
-
So is this a known issue where the video pauses when you switch brightness levels? Not a big deal, but kind of annoying.
-
Are you aware that you can do the 2 finger and switch to 1 finger or use 1 stationary and 1 to scroll etc. etc. etc.. even walk with 1 finger then the other..... All with the standard 2 finger scroll settings in synaptics? No need for whatever that .zip file is...
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
the video pauses when you switch brightness?
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
yeah but then I'd have to set the wheel scrolling to 1 instead of 3.
and that's a pain when you go from mouse to touchpad and back. Much easier to just use that exe's two finger scrolling and three finger/quick tap right clicking and have it look smooth. -
Try changing brightness while watching any youtube video in full resolution
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
oh wow you're right.
the hell. *tries mediaplayer classic*
huh. might have something to do with the radiance screen happens with media player classic full screen or not so fullscreen (close enough with a 1280x720 video) -
another thing, how do I make F1-F12 to be primary keys and how to toggle between integrated and dedicated graphics as I don't see button for it.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
that's in the bios.
hit f10 a lot on boot, then go turn action keys off. -
TOO ALL FUTURE BUYERS...
After 1 day with the Envy I must say GO GET SSD. This is the smartest upgrade I ever made based on the use so far. Everything goes speedy, cool, and silent! -
Got mine today, haven't noticed any cpu whine, but I do have this problem:
That is an approximately 2x4 inch rectangular rainbow in the dead center of the screen (if you push your finger down on an led screen that is what it looks like). It is only viewable at extreme angles.
Anyone know what this is, why it is there, and whether it will become any more of an issue? -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
I had that too
it eventually went away. it also wasn't as large. -
I think all of E14 have those, but most people dont really report it...since its only visible when you really look at an angle where you shouldn't be looking at the screen.
-
probably goes away as your computer uses the screen or w/e
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
most likely.
-
Having had numerous LED and LCD screens I've never seen that before. Hopefully you are right and it goes away.
Hopefully someone with some computer/monitor expertise can chime in. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
hopefully. I had very little when I got mine.
-
may just be "manufacturing residue"
that's why the iphone 4 had yellow spots. -
So I take it there is no key shortcut key like on M11 to switch between dedicated/integrated
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
no.
it's a right click on the desktop kinda thing.
edit: I mean you can make it ask if you wanna swap automatically if you plug in/unplug. -
anyone?Or a link to the PART 1 of the official lounge..
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
that's one of the misc1-misc4 drivers in swsetup
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
barring that, it's the hphdprotect drivers in swsetup (hpprothd or something that folder)
-
Thanks, I thought HP HD Protect is only for HDD not SSD
-
Just got mine and will be firing it up this evening. First though, is there a easy, simple way to check for dead/bad pixels, like some type of test program? Are you guys actually doing a pixel test, or are you just randomly discovering them by chance (if you have any)?
-
alright went out and got some DVDs, getting ready to do a clean install. So everyone get ready to answer my stupid questions........
I even have one before I get started: I use Recovery Media Creation right? Cause in the guide it says to use recovery disc creation, but i can't find that. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
*shrugs* may be both.
but I thought it was only hdd too -
The easiest way to check is just get a image of a solid white background and a solid black one and manually check to see if anything is off.
-
Tried it but the PCI Simple Communication Controller still there...PCI Bus 0, Device 22, Function 0
-
I used Recovery Media.
-
One test I used:
LCD Dead Pixel Test Backgrounds -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
then it's not that but is one of the things in the drivers --> misc1, or 2 or 3 or 4 folders -
Yep, using HP Recovery Media Creation. Clear 3 hours from your schedule, because that's about how long you're gonna need to make all the DVD's
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
3 hours if you're lucky and pay some attention
-
Found it, its intel MEI driver!
-
Agree. Especially at the price HP is selling the 160GB Intel SSD for.
-
Crap. Just noticed the warning about not messing with the number of cores in msconfig. I fooled around with these settings when someone suggested it a while back. Can anyone tell me how I can check to see if both cores are running properly?
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
well you can just turn that stuff off and everything will be fine.
-
Really? 2.0's warning made it sound like it was bad. I just checked in msconfig and I think it's back to normal. Anyways, thank you.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
well it's bad on account of "asdfjkl; only got 1 or 2 cores running and it's getting really hot for some reason" not "I can't fix this" bad
-
I think the best you can do is in Catalyst: go to [options>hotkeys] from the main screen and set something up. You can enable or disable discrete graphics with a key in combination with ctrl/alt/win.
-
Yeah, I was referring to the second kind of bad. Thankfully I haven't managed to do any permanent damage to this laptop yet. Or at least not that I'm aware of.
-
I read the last 20 pages but couldn't find an answer to these 2 questions:
1. How can you tell whether the battery is fully charged before turning it on for the first time? The white battery light is blinking - does that mean's it's charging or it's charged?
2. Is the trackpad supposed move down and click when you press down on it? Like a mouse? I am not used to that. -
Anybody else play YouTube - 2001 A Space Odyssey Opening on repeat when doing the unboxing?
-
1. If you move your mouse over the battery in the bottom right of the screen it will tell you how much it is charged.
2. Yeah, its supposed to do that. Took me a while to get used to as well, but I usually tap to click anyways.
Side note: Is anybody else's webcam tinted red, I was just messing around with it and everything had a red tint, might be my lighting, but my old G60's webcam was clear in the same lighting. Sorry if this is a known issue, I stopped reading the thread after I ordered mine, lol. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
mine's kinda tinted blue around the edges of your face and stuff (I blame the screen reflecting or something)
-
thanks sdawg

Hey guys I thought I'd share an HP Envy 14 unboxing video with you. It's only 2 minutes long. Didn't get a chance to post a review since I've got it only a few hours ago.
So far I am loving it. Oh and no keyboard flex, in fact this is the best laptop keyboard I've ever typed on! My previous laptop was Macbook Pro 13. I like Envy's keyboard much more -- it feels softer and quieter.
Anyway here is the video: YouTube - HP Envy 14 Unboxing July 26, 2010
If you have any questions, post in this thread.
Specs: Intel I5 - 520M, 6GB RAM, 160GB SSD, everything else is ENVY 14 default.
