Well ~ 7CD's per single layer DVD, so you do the math. It'd probably be quicker and less cumbersome to run to the store and buy a five or ten pack of DVD's than to have 25-28 CD's and have to babysit the whole process. Imagine if you lost just one of them or even one went bad? You'd be fubar.

    TwoFingerScroll-envy14-v0.01.zip

it also doesn't work perfectly now that I've played with it more (one finger stationary, the other moving to scroll it)

depends on the pressure you use for the other finger, etc

    two finger scroll works fine

So is this a known issue where the video pauses when you switch brightness levels? Not a big deal, but kind of annoying.

Are you aware that you can do the 2 finger and switch to 1 finger or use 1 stationary and 1 to scroll etc. etc. etc.. even walk with 1 finger then the other..... All with the standard 2 finger scroll settings in synaptics? No need for whatever that .zip file is...

yeah but then I'd have to set the wheel scrolling to 1 instead of 3.

and that's a pain when you go from mouse to touchpad and back. Much easier to just use that exe's two finger scrolling and three finger/quick tap right clicking and have it look smooth.

    the hell. *tries mediaplayer classic*

huh. might have something to do with the radiance screen happens with media player classic full screen or not so fullscreen (close enough with a 1280x720 video)

After 1 day with the Envy I must say GO GET SSD. This is the smartest upgrade I ever made based on the use so far. Everything goes speedy, cool, and silent!

Got mine today, haven't noticed any cpu whine, but I do have this problem:

That is an approximately 2x4 inch rectangular rainbow in the dead center of the screen (if you push your finger down on an led screen that is what it looks like). It is only viewable at extreme angles.

Anyone know what this is, why it is there, and whether it will become any more of an issue?

I think all of E14 have those, but most people dont really report it...since its only visible when you really look at an angle where you shouldn't be looking at the screen.

Having had numerous LED and LCD screens I've never seen that before. Hopefully you are right and it goes away.

Hopefully someone with some computer/monitor expertise can chime in.

Just got mine and will be firing it up this evening. First though, is there a easy, simple way to check for dead/bad pixels, like some type of test program? Are you guys actually doing a pixel test, or are you just randomly discovering them by chance (if you have any)?

The easiest way to check is just get a image of a solid white background and a solid black one and manually check to see if anything is off.

Yep, using HP Recovery Media Creation. Clear 3 hours from your schedule, because that's about how long you're gonna need to make all the DVD's

Crap. Just noticed the warning about not messing with the number of cores in msconfig. I fooled around with these settings when someone suggested it a while back. Can anyone tell me how I can check to see if both cores are running properly?

I think the best you can do is in Catalyst: go to [options>hotkeys] from the main screen and set something up. You can enable or disable discrete graphics with a key in combination with ctrl/alt/win.

I read the last 20 pages but couldn't find an answer to these 2 questions:

    1. How can you tell whether the battery is fully charged before turning it on for the first time? The white battery light is blinking - does that mean's it's charging or it's charged?

    2. Is the trackpad supposed move down and click when you press down on it? Like a mouse? I am not used to that.

    1. If you move your mouse over the battery in the bottom right of the screen it will tell you how much it is charged.
    2. Yeah, its supposed to do that. Took me a while to get used to as well, but I usually tap to click anyways.

Side note: Is anybody else's webcam tinted red, I was just messing around with it and everything had a red tint, might be my lighting, but my old G60's webcam was clear in the same lighting. Sorry if this is a known issue, I stopped reading the thread after I ordered mine, lol.

Hey guys I thought I'd share an HP Envy 14 unboxing video with you. It's only 2 minutes long. Didn't get a chance to post a review since I've got it only a few hours ago.

So far I am loving it. Oh and no keyboard flex, in fact this is the best laptop keyboard I've ever typed on! My previous laptop was Macbook Pro 13. I like Envy's keyboard much more -- it feels softer and quieter.

Anyway here is the video: YouTube - HP Envy 14 Unboxing July 26, 2010

If you have any questions, post in this thread.

Specs: Intel I5 - 520M, 6GB RAM, 160GB SSD, everything else is ENVY 14 default.
