we da winnerz!
-
i would like to know this also
-
does anyone know if there are any invisibleshield type protectors for the envy 14 and also a screen protector/keyboard protector? or is it too early in the game for this.
-
Yea, you're right. It'll be impossible to find a laptop with a 5650 clocked at 550.
-
All I have to say:
I love this thing already. -
Sooo windows activate is popping up. Telling me to type in my key.
Where is my product key? Its not on the box, its not on the laptop.
I used magic bean to get the key out of my registry, but it says "that is a default key, please enter another key and try again".
Stupid windows. -
exchanging due to touchpad gap + small strach on screen. check your screen people, under BRIGHT light!!
-
Alright, think I got all the drivers installed from my swsetup disc. Is there any quick way to double check if everything installed correctly besides manually going through system information or testing everything manually?
@Skwiggler are you doing a clean install or is it just popping up out of the blue? If its a new install, there was a way to backup the activation information so you could activate it after the install is complete. If its just out of the blue, thats random and I've never heard of that happening before. -
@skwiggler, it may or may not be underneath your battery
I had my hands on one for a while, its somewhere in the open-able compartment on the bottom, I remember seeing it when I went in there.
(my next one is on order, but isn't here yet so, this isn't fosho) -
Good call, I just checked the compartment, not under the battery itself.
I'm running on battery now sooo, not gonna pull it out now ha, but I'll check when I get off -
Ahh poop I came on here so excited thinking they dropped the price $100. I don't need my laptop til september though, maybe the radiance display will go down by then...
-
Thanks for the info. These get some nice reviews, and that is definitely a great price. I placed my order a couple of hours ago, and the coupon was still good. With tax, $76.02 shipped. They are out of stock right now, but they don't charge you until they actually ship.
-
Exchanged mine as well. Small scratch and a dust particle trapped behind the screen! I could live with any defect...but not on the screen.
-
Device Manager and look for yellow exclamation marks
-
Thanks, looks like I got everything.
-
Having some issues. If anyone could help I would be grateful. Anyways, I followed the directions of the fresh install. I made the 4 HP recovery disks, A SwSetup disk, and the ISO Windows 7 x64. It installed and I updated windows. I was going to update drivers but my computer is acting crazy now. It basically will either get to the boot screen and freeze ( I can still hear it loading though in the the background). Or it will start to check file system on C: (File system is NTFS) THen is says error code (766f6c756d652e63) and at the same time I can hear the background loading noise. How do I fix this? Is there a way to boot from disk because it is not reconizing the disk when I turn it on. Help!
-
Sounds like corupted files. You could run a repair the Windows install disc check error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1 or reformat and try again. Im not sure what caused it though, Windows Update or a bad install from a bad disc in the first place.
-
Thanks for the quick reply. How would I do a reformat if I cant get the disk to boot? Thanks for the link. Checking it out now
-
Safe mode starts and then it just says please wait.. It never continues....
-
The wifi is intel but bluetooth is broadcom for US version.
-
Could people please go to Zagg and submit that they would like the envy 14 to have a skin? I would really appreciate it.
https://www.zagg.com/hotgadgets/index.php -
RMA'd my Envy 14. Waiting on 2nd one with a build date of August 26th...at least that's what the CSR told me. School starts August 23rd
. Any other laptop suggestions? Preferably 13-15 inch screen i5-450+
-
done.
fyi guys. its pretty impossible to play any FPS games on this touchpad. Anyone know how to create the deadzone? -
You need to hold/press ESC when rebooting in the BIOS to get into the BIOS settings and then set the BIOS to give you time to select the boot media during next restart at BIOS screen by using [F8] I think. I hope this is what you meant.
-
Why would you play an FPS game on ANY touchpad? You must be pretty beastly.
-
Done as well, hopefully they'll create one to protect our preciouses. . .
-
WOW! I was getting so frustrated. Its loading from disk now. Hopefully this works. It wouldnt let me load is safe mode. Thanks so much. Ill let you know if I have any luck
-
Yep, what you wanna do is boot from the CD and then FORMAT (Erase) the old Windows partition before installing the new copy.
-
I received the Envy 14 yesterday.
But I was a little scared to open it after i read bunch of complains in this forum. Something like CPU whine, GPU underclock/undervoltage, Fan noise, and etc.
Can I still return my envy 14 if I open the box? -
Yes
21 days -
Man this is pissing me off! It was loading the Windows 7 disk but then the screen just goes blank. No cursor or anything. What the hell. Should I try recovery disks?
-
Yes you can return it open box. See page 1 of this thread for details about returns.
-
Of course.
You have 21 days after the delivery date of your Envy to return it if you're dissatisfied.
As long as you don't break anything, you should be fine. -
Someone earlier had an issue with the Norton being activated. Removing that worked for him
-
I just realized that I flashed my BIOS to F.02 from the default F.05A (2nd batch E14)! Well, dont know why the flash utility allow me to downgrade BIOS. The F05A should be down loadable soon then I supposed.
PS:The Bluetooth is Broadcom right? Can someone confirm this? The only problem I experience so far is the whining in quiet room issue. Will take a look on the scratch on the screen later on. -
I forgot to format after I delete and create new partition, windows still install fine though.
-
I cant get past the boot screen or I keep getting this boot error: disc check error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1. Then after that message I can hear the computer booting but the screen is blank. This is jacked up
-
HP Recovery Manager, do I want to:
Mircrosoft System Restore
System Recovery
Facotry Reset
Minimized Image Recovery -
I think that would essentially accomplish the same thing as just formatting.
This is when it boots from the DVD or trying to boot into Windows? -
Booting from windows I get that error and that is when it happens.
When I tried to boot the Windows 7 ISO disk it started to load the files and then just went blank
Now I'm trying the HP recovery disks
HP Recovery Manager, do I want to:
Mircrosoft System Restore
System Recovery
Facotry Reset
Minimized Image Recovery -
haha yeah im beastly with a touchpad!
just not this one XD -
Yea, you can.
-
Sounds like oyu are going to have to format the partition first without the Windows install CD somehow. Im not sure which tool to use but Im sure someone knows a bootable CD/USB tool that can format a drive
-
+1, same here.
According to the poll ~63% were "lucky" and said their E14 was in "Great/Perfect Condition" along with ~20% reporting "Small imperfections". So that is ~83% not needing to RMA. -
This happened to me. Just keep trying. Seems to work on random. Or use a USB to boot. Same thing.
But if it fails try again. -
I chose factory reset under recovery manager. Its basically reformatting and is using all three disks. Currently reformating windows partion. Hope this works...
-
Odd, my i5-450 shows up as a 520 in the cpuid hwmonitor thing
oh well
