Well, no need to time it, there is a count down timer when the next level loads. With my GTX 260m I usually have 5-6 or more seconds left on that countdown timer before the level starts. With the HD 5650 the countdown timer has either already expired or at best 1-2 seconds left.

Thought I'd let you know you don't need 8 gb of ram to game.

Seriously, you are fine with 4gb.

Well, 1366x768 on a 14 inch panel wasn't that bad. I used it on a Dell Vostro 3400 for about a week.

If it makes you feel better, your games will run better than ours. :)

Ok, thanks. I got everything working. I dropped back to the 10.3 drivers. Still didn't work, so then I updated Direct X and everything worked fine after that. Then upgraded to 10.7. Strange though, I thought there was an earlier rev. of Direct X that came with Windows, but maybe not. No error messages either, it would just crash.

Did you try turning off bluetooth? Did it stop? If so , I installed the latest bluetooth drivers and I dont have the whine anymore. I have clean installed and always have bluetooth on as I use a bluetooth MS mouse.

The only reason I got the 720p screen is because the $200 dollar upgrade for the 900p screen would have put me over my budget. If only I ordered ONE day earlier :(

Ooo yeah, exactly, you could call HP and get them to give $100 back.

Even the radiance screen alone is enough argument,

Or reference an online one from recent that had the cheaper screen. Seriously they toss out cash at HP left and right, when I went to RMA mine, they offered an addition $50 credit instead, you could use that too. I easily could have gotten $150 credit back lol.

Also, location [adult swim] no capitals :p

Same, but i know that I have a lot of bloatware running thanks to HP, slowly cleaning it out, but I've had 3 1/2 hour battery runs+ so...

yea idk mayb I'll break down and do a reinstall at some point. Just don't want to run into the problems other people had after reinstalls. Not that I cant handle it, it'll just interrupt my everyday use.

EDIT: doesnt help that my buddy downloaded a trojan while installing warcraft addons. Avira scrubbed it off it think, but for all I know the trojan invited other stuff onto my PC. Now I remember why I don't let other people touch my computers! (now... to unhack my WOW account... :p)

Well, MacBook Pros have a significantly larger battery inside of them, along with the fact that OSX has very aggressive power management, which is something Windows needs.

The MacBook Pro 13 certainly is capable of getting those kind of battery times.

Ugh. I would never buy the MacBook Pro 15 at the price it's at.

It's not worth it, it's exorbitantly expensive and has an underpowered GPU.

The MacBook Pro 13 is the only one I would consider.

/Agree the simple fact that they MAKE a model with 1/2 GPU RAM is a disgrace to the company and an insult to customers. Then they force a 2k$+ bill on you if you want the full version.

and yea, MBP 13 gets 8 hours for sure. 15 would be a tad less.

I'm currently using a MBP 13". Let me tell you this, when i'm on excel and making a graph, it's so laggy you have no idea. Specs are2.26 ghz 4gb ram 256 GB SSD. This is why im going to the envy now.
I play dota occasionally and I get lag spikes all the time. ITS ANNOYINGGG. it should be able to handle dota. I placed it on LOW settings also -___-

The purpose of the 13 is battery, it does that very well without pretending to be anything else.

15 is a scam of sorts if you care about the GPU at all.

One of the things I was looking forward to the most about this computer was the screen and to be honest I would have paid full price for the upgrade if it didn't put me over my budget. I'll take $50 off though

So what sorts of things are people using to keep their E14's screen clean? As much as I love the computer, the display is an absolute magnet for dust and other crap. I have no idea what sort of cleaning product to use on a glossy non-glass screen like this.

Well I'm glad to hear you were able to get the 900p screen. It's definitely something that made me want the Envy 14.

It gets great battery life, solid build quality, and okay performance.

The MacBook Pro 15 is a joke in terms of price/performance. It gets better battery life than most laptops, but the GPU is junk for what you're paying.

Has anyone notice that on their laptop sometimes the brightness controls just dont work? you can manually adjust the brightness, but the keys dont work. Someone said update the bios but that did not fix it. i have to shut down my computer to get it to work again. the problem usually starts when i un-plug/switch power options. Any help?

Also, I just got my weekly Future Shop flyer, and they're advertising a DM4 with a 1GB HD 5650 video card... I thought this was weird considering that you can't even customize it with that on the HP USA website... /boggled. In any case, I'm going to investigate tomorrow when the flyer comes into effect. (Sadly I'm quite positive it's still the 1366*768 screen)

You don't say "Yeah I got the 900 screen," that's extremely vague. It's just nomenclature.
