um, you can't stack coupon codes...
-
yeah just email the specs you want, he will create a new listing based on the specs you specified then you can pay for it and the order will be placed and shipped to you. The shipping fees are quite reasonable
-
I wouldn't go for the 840QM because your computer will get hot so it will be using the fans to cool it which uses battery and it will use a lot of battery anyway simply because it is a quad core PLUS you can't put it on integrated graphics to save battery. And because it will be so hot, it will never turbo boost when you need/want it to. I think the best option for this laptop is one of the i5 processors.
As for the SSD, I say go for it. You can't go wrong with getting a SSD in this beast.
However, if you don't care about battery life at all, you could go for the quad core but I'm sure it will get hot. But at the end of the day, it's really up to you. -
My hd in my httpc just died and I am now on my old 8 year old pc, so I am running out of options. I actually tried doing a mini search to see if I could find the 3820TG or E14 in CAN or when either would be coming (they were my two choices), but nothing. The Envy will show up eventually, but not at a worthwhile price.
I'm on the HP site now and think I'm going to bite.
- Genuine Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
- Core(TM) i5-450M
- 4GB DDR3 System Memory (1 Dimm)
- 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
Only question is on the warranty. Will probably give him a shout to see what he says. -
I checked his price with the i7, 500gb hdd, 4gb ram, 1dimm
-
Yea shipping might take a while since he orders it and then re-ships it again. But I'm hopeful though (I read his reviews too)
-
Anyone know how I would go about swapping the ODD for an SSD? Also, can anyone recommend a fast SSD that's medium to low capacity for a good price? (perhaps 16-64GB and around sub $100)
-
Yes please do so and tell us what he said about it.
-
Heh. Imagine trying to moderate it? I did. Imagine it, I mean. It was a terrible, scary thought.
-
oh, and if anyone was still wondering, that little plastic part in the front is apparently for the bluetooth module, says the user manual. Sorry if this was stated already, but I knew ppl were asking, and I was curious myself
-
Order... slice... or accessories... separately
-
Forget anything under 30GB. (I have a tablet with a 30GB Vertex with Win7, office, a few other progs and I'm at 10GB free). In fact, I wouldn't get anything under 60GB. Look to OCZ to fulfill that requirement. But expect to pay north of $150. OCZ has a rebate going for $30 I believe. Check Newegg, Zipzoomfly, Mwave.
-
Just contacted him. Will let you know what he comes back with.
-
Thanks DerpDerp. I'll add that to the front page with the asterisks - non-stackable.
-
What's the performance difference between the 370 and 450? Realistically, speaking, of course. I'm a fairly advanced user, but just wondering if I need the boost. I plan on doing some gaming, but this is for college (engineering major).
-
Not a bad little business he has going there. On the envy 14 models he clears a minimum of 100 dollars due to likely student/epp discounts. I wonder how he deals with shipping costs though. And what kind of wrinkles exist with shipping items to other countries?
-
Yeah, heh. I hear ya. I don't envy you.
I moderated a smaller forum once, and that was bad enough. I can't imagine this dysfunctional mess of a family. Bring out your best broom and mop...
-
If the guy can make a little on the side, I have no problem with that: more power to him. Offering a means for some people to actually get their hands on the Envy, when not physically possible due to odd distribution practices, is a good thing.
-
IMPORTANT NOTE: the one-year warranty on this product is from HP and the primary method of support is web-based. If you need to talk to someone "live" to resolve a problem and you are outside the U.S.A., you will be required to call an 800 number a toll call. If there is a hardware problem with the laptop, HP will require you to ship to the U.S.A. for repair. This may change if/when HP sells this laptop in your country.
-
Ok but if I order from the ebay guy and something goes wrong with my hardware, can I still send it back to HP? Because the warranty would be under his name not mine.
EDIT: I live in Australia -
After ebay and paypal fees he would be losing money if he bought these at cost. He must have access to some sort of discount.
-
200mhz turbo boost for 50$ is worth it if you plan on keeping it till your warranty is over.
Else I'd suggest a 370m and get it upgraded later on with a 580m (2,66 ghz + 3,3ghz turbo, 35W tdp) ( Intel Core i5 Mobile I5-580M CP80617005487AD (BX80617I5580M)) which is meant to come out during the last trimester of this year at around 260$ in both oem and boxed versions.
I hope hp centers will have it for under warranty upgrades.
It's only a matter of time before envy 14 gets 580m as an option, likely by the end of the year so hopefully the bios won't be a problem if they made the envy 14 like the second gen envy 15's (not soldered upgradable cpu, better order the cpu and make it done through a hp certified technician if you don't want to void your warranty).
There again if you don't need dual core usage cpu power but just extra snappiness, just put that money into a SSD... -
News Flash:
The envy14 is using the same clickpad as previous envies, not the new synaptics 4-point hingeless buttonless hardware shown here...
Synaptics Introduces Four-Finger Multi-Touch and MacBook Style TouchPads - Laptop News - TrustedReviews
This was a common question last week, finally we can answer it because of information in the user manual that erath uploaded today. -
Im sure he has access to a nice discount, maybe he works for hp (he seems to sell mainly hp laptops).
either way, i hope his business is doing well because without him i would have had to do so much more (and pay so much more) just to get this beast. -
I believe it is the same thing as buying it physically in a store. Generally if somethings goes wrong(after the 30-day store return policy)you send it to HP and not back to store.
So I believe it is the same thing here if the laptop fails within a year, call HP and ship it back to them(don't mention ebay just claim you bought it in the US while on vacation). You would have to pay for shipping to the US though but HP would ship it back to you for free. -
Aww, that's a shame. But I guess you can't have everything. As long as the trackpad works decently (and it seems like it does), I'm good.

Will the HD 5650 play Sims 3 and Left 4 Dead 2 on highest settings and 1600 x 900 resolution fluently?
-
same. if it becomes a problem then il just tweak the settings. or buy an external mouse. no biggie.
@Hamstermurderer lol - The 5650 will dominate those games. -
Yes, but I can smack another 8-cell on during that extra long flight and have fun while the Macbook pro runs out of batteries.
-
i think i'm gonna do what one of the other guys in this thread did...stop reading every single page x.x.
i think i'll only read the first page from now on. -
The front page has the majority of the information anyway. Except little tips (aka the ebay thing)
-
Alright, I'm just gonna go out there and say i'm way too obsessed with this thing (this tab is always open as I refresh it every time i go back to my computer). I'm always hoping for some new info, or new pictures or video or something. Is anyone else like this, or am I the only crazy person on here?
Anyway, I can't wait for this baby to get to my house hopefully by the 14th! (I bought it opening day.) I'll be sure to post some pictures and maybe a video unboxing and review if I have the time. Since I purchased an i7 740, i'll definately check out the temperatures for anyone considering the quad core power!
And as an extra bonus, I'll probably throw some dolphin in there for those of you who wanted to run that
-
Your not the only one....trust me.
I've made like 95% of my posts in this thread alone. -
His price for those specs is $1,439.99 which is $25 more than what is available on the HP site now. But I think that is because the listing is a bit old and I believe HP cut $25 off all processors recently. So email him with your own specs and he will create a new listing for you with a match of the prices hopefully
-
you arent the only one...i open this AND open my hp account to check my status every hour lol....im getting a bit obsessive...but i cannot help it. im the type of person who needs a laptop. i gave my old hp laptop to my friend to bring to vietnam for my cousin.
and wait...you ordered the day it released, and you have an estimated shipping date of july 14th??? i thought mine was bad xD -
Yeah, i always check this lol everyday, every time i open up google chrome
-
I only pointed that out because apparently, someone in this forum claimed that Macbook Pros have longer battery life. Well, obviously the Macbook Pro has a higher battery capacity, so obviously MBP wins against the HP Envy14 in a standard-battery test.
-
nonono, est shipping date is 7th, and then I hope it doesn't take forever to get to me! (UPS truck crashes/explodes/abducted by aliens/etc.)
(lol, I just checked the shipping date, and the status said "item shipped" and i freaked out for a second before i realized that was for my link sleeve for the envy >_< ) -
Unfortunately, watt-hour to watt-hour, the MBP is likely to still win on battery life due to OSX.
This is why I kind of wish HP would have scrapped the optical drive in favor of a larger battery. In the space where they fit that optical drive, plus the space where the battery is now, we could have a huge battery.
I favor all-day runtime over having an optical drive. Oh well.
I think four hours will be adequate for me, I guess. I'm sure I'll want more no matter what. Anyhow, if I get an Envy 14, I'll just get a slice later on, I'm thinking. -
Even if they had the same battery capacity the MBP would probably still win. Now if they were running on the same battery capacity AND both running windows, the Envy would win hands down.
The Leopard and Snow Leopard are lighter operating systems than Windows 7. -
my sleeve has been at the "shipped" status for 4 days now...my laptop is still in production =[ but i read someone on this forum received his envy 3 days before the HP website decided to update it to "shipped" along with the confirmation number. i hope mine is like this too xD
-
haha dont we all?
-
Who here really wants an optical drive? I'd rather have so many other things instead of that. More ram slots, another hard drive, a bigger battery, a better graphics card, better cooling, a thinner computer. All I ever use a cd/dvd for is operating re-installs... I mean i guess i do a fare amount of that anyway, but i can always use a USB, right? I mean seriously, i'd rather have a friggen, idk, hole to heat up my sandwiches for lunch! (oh yeah? well my computer has a built-in toaster-oven!)
... now i'm getting hungry for a tunamelt...
brb -
Me (10 char)
-
lmao thanks for the laugh. But i like the idea of having drives built in. What if you want to watch a video in the cafe ? you would look like a fool.
+ i like having more usb slots empty. -
hahaha...me too...yea please do put up a review and video...where the are the pro reviews... -
Your absolutely right. I'd rather have better cooling so I could get the i7 processor and a better graphics card plus it would be lighter and more portable.
-
My sleeve hasn't been shipped yet =(
-
Yes, but reviewers seemed to complain about the lack of optical drive with the Envy 15. I for one think it is the logical step forward: eliminating the oppressive and mammoth optical drive. I haven't used a CD since I discovered Steam. I'm wondering why the next generation of consoles won't use entirely network delivery, or at least non optical media, such as a small flash device (imagine the loading times). Anyways, it is too late to change the Envy 14. Perhaps when/if they do a refresh ... things might change.
