Don't tempt me; I work a profoundly slow desk job where I basically get paid to surf the internet, and my spam-fu skills can surprise even the most powerful of banhammers![]()

It should be that if you are denied, you are given the chance to enter an alternate form of payment. Don't really know.
Worse come to worse, you can always cancel the order if you find that they charged your CC. -
Oh wait, it was you who took the site down for a few hours two weeks ago? Wasn't it? Yeah, yeah it was you...
(Takes name out of random ban bowl, blow dries it, and puts it back but on the top.) -
Google Goggles GO! ...I said, Google goggles GOOOO!!!!....
....
damn, I guess we're not there yet... -
Well, I can tell you that I definitely notice the difference with 8 gigs versus 4 when gaming, and especially when heavily multi-tasking.
-
My guess is Joe Strummer of the Clash.
-
I definitely think your right about that
-
I use my iPad for notes. (both typed and hand written)
-
Google search GO! Click on Images link GO!
Yeah, we've got that, and also one of these:
A Vinner!
*cries* -
LMAO ..... iPad
-
Meh, google images is so old school, tineye is what the cool kids use.
-
Just read the last 10 pages of this thread, I love forum soap operas xD
Anyways, actualy Envy question, is the 14" screen enough to game comfortably? FPSs & RTSs? -
Screen size is a matter of personal comfort. If you're asking about the number of pixels on the screen, lord yes its only a few pixels fewer than my desktop 20" display. Personally, I plan on playing SC2 and L4D2 on this laptop, and I don't think the 14.5" screen will be a problem, but I also have very good eyes to wear out by starting at it.

found something new to complain about!!

Joe Strummer? Who's that bloke then?
-
LOL, you and me both brotha! Is there anything hotter than human skin!?!?!?
Ohhh, BABY!! -
I'm gonna have to go with "The Man in Black" Mr. Johnny Cash
-
No way that's johnny cash.
EDIT: I just learned who Joe Strummer was... -
Sounds kinda like Zune Pass...?
-
You can't, per se. But what you can do is upload it to imageshack or some other free image hosting site.
If the size is right, you can upload to this site by using the attachment feature.
See the manage attachment button when you make a post. (Doesn't show up in quick reply, only reply to thread.) -
Just for the sake cool sites, Imgur.com is infinitely better than Imageshack.
-
I can see the personal experience behind that statement...
-
Probably the girlfriend talking about what they're gonna do later on...
*edit* that's too much for this forum, right? -
12% over the limit.
-
Envy 14: Just how Awesome is it going to be!?
Very interesting stuff.
I hope its all true. -
So then I shouldn't quote her from that convo, here? :O
-
Depends. You know the rule: pics or it didn't happen.
(OK, see, now I'm going to be the most hated mod, like ever. I encourage too much off topic-ness-ness. *throws own name in random ban bowl.) -
Haha. I don't blame ya. ~500 pages of speculation, some actual specs/data, off-topic discussions.
-
Question:
Does HP block the ability to OC the graphics card? The 5650 should be able to get OCed well. -
Yeah! We're all allowed to talk about your profile pic for days but the second that sweat shops comes up... :O
-
No thankfully they don't.
-
dont forget about the heat issue. laptop components arnt ment to be OCed
-
Well, because, sweatshops are a very sensitive subject for me considering I do this mod bit but for a few cookies per month. Overcooked cookies mind you. With trans fat and aspartame. And no chocolate chips.
No chocolate chips!
So that issue is a bit too close to my heart. I can only ask for your empathy.
Thank you for your consideration. -
But CPU overclock is locked?
-
My father was a sweat shop.
I too struggled with such things my whole life...
Kay sorry, anyways. Envy 14. Uhmmm.
(actually seriously thought,) does anyone have any pictures of how much better a radiance or an hd screen is compared to a normal one? -
Thats great. Someone with the Asus 3820TG with the 5650 OCed/I5 430 got great results.
The 14 should be a great laptop. I cant wait
-
Yes, but that's Intel's doing.
-
So even the core speed is locked, not just the mult? (sorry my only OC experience is in a desktop)
-
Someone asked who it was pictured in 2.0s avatar photo:
Whaddaya mean, "who is it"?? I thought it WAS 2.0!!
-
Oh. We're at page 500.
OK no more off topic until page <s>501</s> 700. -
Core speed is a function of the multiplier. However bus speed is a function of the PLL chip. There may be a way to overclock the bus which in turn overclocks the CPU and RAM. Sometimes it can achieved with software but usually with a pin mod to the PLL.
-
Is a pin mod something physical?
-
How hard is it to change a graphics card for a nicer one?
If its soldered into the mobo can some one who is absolutely professional switch it out for a new one??
My company just did a merger and I didn't realize but the scientists who moved in the back are phenomenal engineers.
I couldn't get a picture of it all, but it was a screen with nothing around it, a mobo, a graphics card all connected by just wires playing a dvd... O_O -
Well, i ended up uploading, then deleting the second image, because i thought it was another Envy pic, but after closer inspection, it turned out to be just a dv6 i think it was. But, an Envy it wasn't. =(
-
Yes. Requires soldering skill and basic understanding of electronics. But someone usually will figure it out and post a pictorial of how to do it. (But said skills are still required.) Problem is, HP not only is notorious for using TME lock PLL chips, but when you overclock your RAM, you may need to change the timings which requires the RAM's BIOS to be updated via flashing.
It's tricky business. But it has been done successfully with Santa Rosa, Penryn and Montevina platforms. -
There's a lot involved as the GPU is soldered to the mobo. Even if the new GPU (not a card as a card would be MXM) is pin compatible to the old. You would have to mod the BIOS for new voltage levels and GPU ID. Then you would likely need to mod the cooling system to be a bit more robust.
-
This may be old news but after waves of OT posts, I couldn't search no more...
Amazon Pre-Order:
Has changed the technical spec from 1600x900 back to 1366x768. Me thinks they got confirmation that the models they will be selling is not a 1600x900 screen.
Will now be be purchasing directly from HP at the end of July. -
So essentially asking them to switch out my graphics card is a totally **** move. hm.
