:D you are right. Shouldn't be like that. By it makes me wonder that systems that have an estimated ship date of one day after mine are already in transit.

Maybe we should start a thread to see when each system shipped, relative to specs. Well, at least the specs that are likely to differ (CPU, RAM, HDD, battery). We could then definitely get a better idea of what would cause some of them to ship later. Maybe it's the 2820s? Or maybe it's only the 8GB RAM people? But by the time people compile their info, things may have shipped.

how does the buyer protection works? they will refund you the difference between 1 month of purchase? or 1 month of the item received date?

I don't think that there is any official buyer protection. I called and asked them about the difference inbetween my discount and the current rebate, and they told me I would have to cancel the order and placde a new one. $90 differenced wasn't worth the extra 2 weeks of wait for me.

@iwantenvy: yes, that would be helpful. I actually had the smaller processor but 8gig of Ram and the additional battery. 1TB HDD, so nothing special. Since it is the weekend now, nothing will happen before Monday I assume.

To be honest, I don't care one way or the other about what specs everyone has....I'm just looking forward to hearing from you guys that next week some of you will receive your Envy laptops! :D

We really need to get to the point of making our systems run fast, clean, and just plain responsive. We have much testing to do.... So HP just bring it.

The coupon expires tomorrow according to the HP reps I spoke with today.

Slotti - Sorry to hear that. I made my order on the 5th and used a $50 coupon, and it took me about 35 minutes on the phone with them today talking about the 25% coupon and they offered to apply it to my existing order and didn't mention the 50 dollar coupon.

Well I'm happy as can be that I saved $666.25 on my Envy order today.

I wish that I could of gotten that I'm on a budget so give another $100.00 off but that's the way it rolls.

It kind of sucks that HP did away with the $100.00 instant rebate on the 4 year extended warranty and accidental damage coverage too but overall I still saved another $267.75 off of HPA pricing with everything combined.

I was going to get the dual 750 meg 5400 drives so I could upgrade to the SSD later on but I got everything fully loaded today for $2498.66 with tax verses $2,308.81 with tax for the dual 750 drives HPA price.

The 189.85 extra was worth it to move up to the SSD & 640 GB 7200 rpm.

Been hovering at these forums for a while - I must say, I was helped tremendously by many of you.

I phoned in and purchased one two days ago. My build date is April 22.

    Looking forward to integrating here.

Congratulations to all of you who have received your shipping notices. Know how excited you must be. There are those of us with earlier estimated shipping dates who are still in limbo wondering what component may be stalling the shipment of our order. Has anyone who ordered the dual ssd + hdd drive received their shipping notice? Thanks.

Tried getting them to apply the 25% coupon to my first order that had the HPA 10% discount on it, wouldn't budge. They did offer me $100 off right off the bat tho, so I may try calling back and seeing if they'll give me anything off the one I ordered with the 25% coupon.

trucha, funny, I just got off the phone with HP right now. It was a long shot, but I tried to apply the 25% off my exchange order with which I already have a nice savings. They were very polite, but said I could not add another coupon ontop of the one I already have. I thanked the rep. and that was that. Oh well, I still get an A+ for effort. ;) Guess I can't get the Envy for free, darn, lol.

P.S. Just got hold of Crysis 2 and it plays well on my dv7-4283cl, so I can only imagine the Envy 17 3D SB will tear it up!

I've had my new Envy 17 3d 2nd Gen. for several weeks now. Lately I've had trouble when booting up. The Envy begins to boot, then abruptly shuts down, and then begins to reboot on its own. Initially it would do this two to three time before finally getting into Windows.

Today it did this seven times, and only proceeded to boot after I disconnected everything from the USB ports. I've got the Envy in the new docking platform that hooks-up through a USB port. There are two HDD's, remote keyboard and mouse, and two photo printers hooked-up to the USB router that attaches to the docking platform. I also had a 16G thumb drive inserted into one of the USB ports, and a 1T HDD in the 3.0 SS USB port.

Has anyone had similar problems? I'm on hold waiting for HP tech support now. It's been almost ten minutes of elevator music.

Yeah, I posted that a couple of weeks ago in one of the threads here. HP lost their minds with that one. I'll chuck it up to bad ad company. Its more foolishness than showing what the Envy 17 3D SB can do.

Thanks. I removed the 1T HDD from the 3.0 SS USB port, and that worked. It booted right up the first time. Come to think of it, my problems booting up likely started about the time I purchased the 3.0 HDD. I wonder why it would be a problem?

I don't know why it happens, but me, and a couple of others I know have had the same problems, and we all have different computers, and even different external drives, so I'd definitely say it's either a windows problem, or some USB problem. So your Envy is perfectly well, for now :)

Interestingly, I live in Vancouver, Canada - and so I've had to use a funny route to order this laptop. One of my best buds lives in Washington state, and so I've ordered through the HP Shopping site using Paypal, with his address as both the billing and the shipping address - even though my credit card (with my Canadian billing address) is being used with Paypal. I figure Paypal will take my money, and give it to HP, and HP just needs an American billing address for their system to push an order through. So although I managed to get $512.50 off the laptop, I'm still waiting with baited breath that the order goes through. Fingers (and toes) crossed. Or do the toes undo the finger effect? Anyways.

We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the welcome KJ :)

They are the same in every respect except the 1TB has a larger capacity. :)
If you want, a good suggestion is to get an after market 7200rpm HDD, or an SDD if better performance.

The 1 TB Hd they offer cost $50 more than the 750 and they have the same performance, and has only 250gb more storage space. i would recommend getting a 7200rpm 750gb somewhere else for around $100. It has better performance. If you want significantly better performance, you should consider a SDD. Thats what I am planning to do. (i ordered the 750GB 5200 HDD)
Anyone has any good SSD recommendation??

Hey guys. Bad news for me..

Remember I was facing random freezing issue? I updated to the F08 Bios and my laptop was running perfectly for 5 days. I really thought this issue was addressed with the BIOS update. Until yesterday... My laptop froze twice and now I am more than positive that it is a hardware issue...

I will send it back. Thank god I called the Resolution Center and they extend my 21 days return period to 35.

I was about to get the SSD configuration but the HP pricing just doesn't make any sense to me (neither the fact that they do not offer single HDD @7200rpm configuration). $630 for an Intel X-25 SSD and 640GB @ 7200rpm is waaaay to much and way overpriced.

I am going to force them to apply the 25% coupon on top on my employed discount. After all I been through a lot with this company. So the final price with the i7-2820 and 8GB with 750GB HDD 5200rpm will be about $1450 for me.

Now the all new Intel 320 series 160GB is already available and you can get it as low as $299, and its not only the lower price as the fact that is superior in every single aspect comparing with the older and more expensive X-25. Next you can get good brand of 640GB 7200rpm HDD for about $70.

So for a total of $370 you can get the latest and by far better Intel 320 160GB plus the 7200rpm 640GB and you end up having a spare 750GB 5400RPM also.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet but most likely this is the scenario I will end up going with..

    Any thoughts comments?

nMIK-3 sounds like you have a bad one too... mine was a bad MOBO. You need to order yours ASAP, as the coupon is rumored to end today!

I had them give me the SSD/HDD combo for my paying another $300, as I knew HP would not just throw it in. Consider getting the SSD/HDD so you don't have to bother buying an non-HP SSD/HDD. They should apply the 25% at the resolutions dept. Good luck, and chime in after your deal. ;)

I had my 17 3d Envy set up with all of the hardware options upgraded except for the hard drives which I was ordering the ones below thinking I'd upgrade one drive to SSD, keep the other installed and toss the one I removed in an enclosure to use for back ups; which would of cost me more money yet.

So if any of you out there are thinking along this line look at my result below:

1.5TB 5400RPM Dual Hard Drive (750GB x 2) with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection

HPA price with tax $2,029.66

With the HP Coupon Code MU6192 I was able to get this hard drive combination:

    800GB 7200RPM Dual Hard Drive (SSD 160GB + 640GB 7200RPM) These aren't shipped as stripped drives, but C: & D: drives

This I ordered by phone and ended up with this price for my new Envy:

    $2082.01 with Tax

For the $52.35 extra I know without a doubt I did the right move. :D

As for the 4 year extended warranty and accidental damage $100.00 instant rebate loss in using the 25% off code... oh well its worth it too. :p

Killa Joe you've tinkered and worked the system better than any of us here; how do you think I did?

I remember some of you stating that you didn't have any plans of ever using the 3D features, but you were only ordering the 3D model, because it was $200 cheaper than the non-3D model.

That being said...is anyone of you willing to part with your 3D glasses!? Let me know!! :D

iwantanenvy, I'll sell you my 3D glasses when they get here, but I'm asking for $10,000. I have bills to pay! LMFAO~ :D ;)

I would think HP will allow you to buy just the glasses, but right now I'm sure they'll be asking for a premium/silly price. Maybe in a couple years it will be more affordable.

Oh, of course they sell them. That's not the issue. But they charge $99.99 for them. I'm sure someone who would supposedly NEVER use them would give them away for cheap, or maybe even FREE ;) if I offered to pay for shipping. LOL

Hey guys, KJ (i know you are reading) should I pull the trigger for this one:

    HP ENVY 17 3D
    •2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2820QM (2.3 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz

    •8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
•750GB 5400RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
•6-Cell Lithium-Ion Battery (standard) - Up to 2.25 hours of battery life +++
    • 17.3" diagonal Full HD HP 3D Ultra BrightView Infinity LED Display (1920x1080)
•Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner
    •HP TrueVision HD Webcam
    •Intel 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R)
    • Backlit Keyboard

    Price: $1,959.99 - –$490.00 ( 25%) = $1,469.99 [delivered to NH to not pay taxes  ]

...or the one in my signature? is the difference between this Envy 17 3D and my DV7tqe worth the extra $392.00 ? does the Envy 17 3D include a dualband wireless card or same as in the dv7?

    @Jose Polanco:

I wouldn't get the 2820QM unless you really need it?

Jose, you're waiting for the last minute I see! lol. Yes, it has dual band. I would also highly recommend you get the 9cell battery as it lifts the Envy's end up helping even more with cooling!

I think its worth the extra price. 1080p, you know you want it. :p

As koopal stated, not sure if you want to get the 2820 or the 2630, you could save more money, but depends what power you need. I forget, but there is a feature that the 2820 has that the 2630 does not. If someone can refresh my memory, thanks.
