ah these football illiterate americans... how they amuse me =P

Not all of us are soccer illiterate.
and we have high hopes for our team. or well we just hope we get through the first round and beat the crap outta england. -
No need, this laptop is perfect with base config, if you want power then it's a waste of money for any upgrades it will have. I had m11x that could do anything I needed it to do with it's weak cpu and not breaking a sweat, too bad the LCD screen sucked.
-
England once used to dominate the world.... it may not do now... but its still has a fighting chance to in football!!
-
Nice picture JayJay. Glad to also see I'm not the only other person to jump on a Zune HD in this world.
-
I just lie back and watch the stressed-out sports fans in amusement
now back to the Envy;
what are some alternatives people are thinking of getting if the 14 doesn't meet expectations or has some issue? -
ahhh the Zune HD .... have to say i got it for the Nvidia Tegra chip in it... 720p out on such a tiny device i thought was amazing !!! plus the OLED and i havent got a particular interest in Apple products XD
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
I know. I know.
But man I'd so love it if the US beat 'em and the other teams and got into the 2nd round. -

DV6T:SE.
In which I say " **** it. it's an envy with a larger screen...and...tier resolution...god dammit. oh well." -
This is a good question. Being very impressed with the Vaio Z, I would try to convince myself it was worth it
The display and build of that thing is incredible, but so is the price. I would also consider the N82 if it ever materializes. Beyond that, I don't know, what are the closest equivalents?
-
Facts on the Envy, speculation on the Envy, more speculation, and more, an Australian brochure, more speculation, the soccer/football/calcio or whatever world cup, speculation on the world cup,... What's next, an Australian brochure advertising the world cup?
EDIT
SORRY FOR THE OFF-TOPICNESS (oops capslock- brings up a relevant question- where are the caps/num/scrolllock indicators located?)
I'll make this post slightly more on-topic by adding the asus UL80VT to the list of possible alternatives.
and how does the 14 (let's go with the base AU specs for now) compare with the 15? -
HP DM4t
Dell Vostro V13+SSD -
dv6T
Acer Timeline X
and...
uhm...
...MBP... -
Quick question. How often does HP release $ off coupons? I'm a little afraid of waiting for the E14 only to find it isn't quite what i want. There's a $200 off coupon going on for the DM4t and I'm afraid it may not pop up again in the future.
-
Well, I've moved from the 17 thread to this one. Also zeth006, I really hope there is a 25% off or 300$ off coupon the first day it is on sale.
-
Why do people keep bringing up the m11x? That screen is freaking tiny.
-
how could anyone manage with that screen is beyond me... i'm worried about 14" being too small since this is essentially what i will be living with in my room at university (don't have enough money for a desktop as well... but i want something portable for lectures too)
If the envy 14 is a no go in the uk spec wise e.g. no i5 model, then i will be having to defect (regrettably) to a 15" MBP. sorry HP but you have dissapointed the UK notebook market enough -
They have coupons literally all the time. Now the big $300 or $450 don't come all the time but the $200 coupons are a mainstay. I wouldn't worry too much about the $200 discount disappearing or anything.
-
It's more likely they'll raise the dm4t coupon when the envy will come out rather than the opposite lol.
-
It will be back to school season soon.
There will be PLENTY of coupons... -
wait we are talking about the Olympics right?
-
Where are the coupons? I've only seen the student discount, BCB, and sales
-
On the Internet.
-
thanks. I'm assuming this means misc. deal websites?
(and how did you like the asus? [before it was stolen]) -
They now list the HP Envy 14-1001tx on HP U.S. website. Support and drivers section. But no specifications. :/

Webmaster's probably on a lonnnnnng coffee break. We'll probably see more info within a week as the day of reckoning approaches.
-
yes, thats exactly what it means =)
The ASUS was great. a little underpowered for what I used it for, but I could get 9 hours of web browsing+iTunes out of the thing, so it was worth it. -
Yea im also typing from a UL80vt it's a really great value, it just lacks a little power for advanced gaming (I can run the last call of duty with very good fps on it with tweaked medium settings tho). To me it is the ultimate travelling laptop while I'd rather use something like the envy for short range mobility.

I couldn't ever get that $200 off all hp laptops $1099+ to work when I was building a DV6T:SE.
it just not work on that one or something? -
The turtle needs modifications

YouTube - HP ENVY 17 - The Unboxing -
Awesome, thank you!
Edit: Wow, that is about the least information we could get out of an unboxing video, don't you think? haha... -
Who cares about Envy 17? I want 14!
-
Hey!
No killing the turtle! -
Naw, this is more like it:
Supersonic is the only way to go. -

Right, so juuust seen the first UK TV advert for Envy 14/17 n the "spring range" now, tell us when it's ooooout!!!!!!!
David -
any youtube link? tried searching for it but couldnt find it
-
As I said earlier, the videos and the reviews are starting to trickle in slowly for the 17. We first have the unboxing video for the Envy 17. As we hear more from the crowd of people who're looking at more than just temperatures and benchmarks, we'll get at least a rough idea of how the E14 will perform.
I'm personally curious as to how the Envy 17's touchpad performs under Scrybe. I understand that the DM4t (cousin of the Envy series) uses a similar touchpad, but has inconsistent two-finger scrolling. I'm convinced none of the reviews on the DM4t and the few personal accounts that mention similar problems with the E17's touchpad included any use of Scrybe. Based on my experiences with my G50VT, I'll venture to say that the problem can easily be solved with Scrybe installed.
Unfortunately, most people on the E17 owners forum seem disinterested in trying out the touchpad(and its software most likely) since most of them are buying the E17 as a desktop replacement, ridding any need or desire to use the touchpad.
Oh, and as always, patience is a virtue.

A TV commercial? Cool, can't wait to see it.
-
Does the laptop have bluetooth or is it an option?
Also do you guys get nervous about the first production of a laptop or is that not a big deal? Like you never get the 1st year of a car do you not get the first set of laptops? -
I believe it will be a $25 option
There is always a danger with being an early adapter. Your average consumer won't want to deal with it, but I don't mind. Of course, I'm a Geek. =) -
Being an early adopter always makes me nervous. It makes me want to wait a month (at least) before getting it to see if they have worked out the kinks.
As far as Bluetooth goes do you (or anyone) have bluetooth mouse or keyboard and are they as good as traditional "wireless" with the usb hub? -
That's what makes us the early adopters. Luckily, it's not that much different from "launch customers" in the airline industry. Early buyers for new airline models get significant introductory discounts, often to the point in which sellers such as Boeing and Airbus actually lose money on those initial sales. It's all part of tantalizing customers into buying first and appeasing them ahead of time when teething issues crop up.
If the Envy 15 and the 17 provide us with any historical cues, those phenomenal $300-450 coupons or 25% or higher BCB should pop up around buy time. -
Although, if you are going to be an "Early Adapter" for any company, HP would be the one to pick. A 21 day return policy is pretty generous.
-
For sure. As I mentioned earlier, I'm going to test the hell out of my Envy 14 and make sure I'm buying a machine that works as advertised and as expected. I'll have my subscription mode for this thread activated. My reason for doing all this is I'm a little skeptical about whether HP techs will service my machine in the event problems like unacceptably high temperatures or defective internal components pops up out of the blue outside of the 21-day period. Call me paranoid, I admit I am. It's a 3-year investment and 4-years if I managed to get approved for an AMEX CC!
