Are usually dead on the mark, when they say a particular day?
-
We're not sure about the time zone. It's about to hit 12:00 for mountain time
cross your fingers (I don't want to have to stay up until 2/3 to see it appear)
-
I suspect it will be the same as it was with the Envy 17. Probably will come out at midnight PST and then fully functional by 12:30 or so. I'm not quite sure if I'm gonna buy it tonight, though I want to.
-
Hopefully they're up tomorrow, and if not, it will be cool to see if they come up within the next week.
I can't buy it tonight. I wish that I could, but I'm not getting paid until Thursday. -
I can't buy it tonight, I just want to fantasize about my configuration before I fall asleep...
I think I'll take a shower and come back to see. I worked 11.5 hours today and got off at 12:30am!
-
What is this student discount you all talk about? Does it work in Canada?
-
Coupon code: NBA5193862 is better than the student discount.
10% vs. $200. -
Don't think so, unless you attend a college in the US and have it shipped there, then you may be able to get through. Sidenote on that topic, do you guys think would I be good putting 7/2010 as my enrollment date since it says it works for college bound students? I technically don't enroll for classes until the end of July at orientation and I could wait a few days so it wouldn't seem out of place to have a July enrollment date, but was just wondering in case HP came out with a rebate or had some big discounts from the 4th of July sale that starts on the 27th and I wanted to get my order in as soon as possible.
-
that depends on how much the configuration costs
-
And how many people have used it/are rushing to use it since I think its limited to x amount of uses.
-
We Canadians always get screwed
More taxes too, and a higher base price
Even though the dollar is about par.
-
People have a tendency to not want to take less money than they are accustomed to.
-
45minutes till I get to see what my lemming config will cost me

Envy 13 uses slower crappier 1.8" drives and envy 17 use faster and sexier 2.5" drives. There is ur price difference newb goblins.
j/k ( only about newb goblin part)
SSD recommendation?? Thats too easy RealSSD c300 #1 SSD on the market can fully max out sata 3gbps which is not an easy feat for a storage device. And dont let glenny boy fool ya just cause some 1 in the vatican (supposedly) says becks work is wildly important
I'm an elitest and proud. Elitests are not what you think. We are a secret organization with the goal of murdering glenn beck. dont let the evil glenn beck fool ya when he says the pope told him his work is wildly important its not he was just hallucinating that conversation. -
I'm pretty sure that the E13 uses 2.5" drives.
-
The advantages of the Momentus XT are: price (and, depending on if you side with tomshardware.com or notebookcheck.net, better battery life).
A properly configured SSD (TRIM, disabled defrag, etc.) brings distinct advantages: it runs silent; superior speed (t'aint nothin' faster, mmhmm), durability (and, depending on if you side with tomshardware.com or notebookcheck.net, better battery life).
Me? I'm going with the Momentus XT. My pockets aren't so deep that I can throw reason to the wind and buy a storage device at a premium price just to keep up with the Smiths. If anything is certain, it is that storage device prices deflate over short periods of time. -
I think the elitest was trying to "make a funny"
-
Finaly decided to join up after watching this thread closely for a month
Intel X-25M G2 (80GB / 160GB). They are good value now, and still among the fastest SSD's on the market. The sandforce drive are still pretty expensive, and they really dont make a huge difference to performance. The RealSSD is a huge waste without SATA III, and even if it had SATA III its a borderline buy.
As for the Momentus XT's. I wouldn't touch em unless you are on a budget or really need the space. I have no problems with an 80GB SSD in my current laptop and an external pocket style USB drive though.
Any idea when HP will have the Envy 14 available in Aus? Whats it been like with the other Envy series?
Hoping to get the high res screen + i5 for under $1500AUD
-
no the e13 does use the 1.8" drives. Thats why it can accept 2x ssd drives but only 1x HDD
nevermind thats the wrong laptop. what laptop has the option of 1hdd or 2x 1.8" ssd's -
2.5 drives aren't always faster than 1.8 drives, and usually 1.8's cost more, newb goblin. I'm too lazy to look into exactly what drives come with both models or I'd debate it. 13 minutes what what.
-
9 minutes!
-
takitoes even on sata II it is still the fastest ssd on market. it like the only 1 to actually max out the sata II bus
no more hockey players can fit on sata II's bus when the realssd c300 is driving it -
On a complete, utter side-note:
Holy hell, I never noticed how alive my house is this late. Moths, mosquitoes, spiders-- it's like a rave for insects! -
