How about to disable/enable bluetooth or wireless radio, or both at the same time, from a single right click?![]()
-

Sure.
It's all located in the system tray. Bluetooth icon, right click, disabled

Same with wlan. -

I have my i5 model opened up right now, will post some pics later.
Here is the GPU RAM p/n Samsung K4W1G1646E-HC12 (YJI400G1) there are 4 soldered direct to mobo.
Also looks like the CPU is using a smaller zif socket than on the i7's gen1. All I could get is the socket p/n: Foxconn r PGA-989 (not sure the 'r' is part of number). No numbers visible on the CPU itself, all under heatsink.
Could someone check those out and see what the memory type is as well as confirm that the socket is used on a PM55 chipset ?
Going to put this one back together and open the other one to upgrade RAM, If there is anything you want checked or confirmed let me know now and I'll check here before reassembly. -

which icon disables the wireless lan radio? Im missing that one...
If there is another way to have all the features of the HP wifi assistant, id like to see it. You either need multiple icons or multiple clicks...
it all boils down to personal preference i guess though... I just got used to that single wifi icon. -
Well, it IS GDDR3 for sure

Thanks JJB.... -

Arrandale uses the same 989 socket so shouldn't be different.
 -

Just get new high rez pics... Always nice to look at! Thanks.
 -

Right click on battery icon and select 'windows mobility manager, give option for wifi and B/T on off etc...
And you can right click and wiifi signal symbol -

Is there ever any time where you want to disable wifi anyway? The new cards are efficient enough that the battery draw isn't too great, and if you are plugged into ethernet you are probably at an outlet anyway.
I would leave the wireless button just for BT. -

oh ok, I have those options.
I was looking for ways to do it with less clicks.
Right clicking the wifi symbol however doesnt take me to anywhere but the network center. from there i have to go to adapters and such to disable anything.
I just dont think this single icon be replaced with anything more functional or more accessible.
      -

Yeah, ummm, the easiest way to turn off wifi is to press the key next to f12

LOL -

So today for hte first time I took my Envy out of the house. I am writing a paper, and 133 words in, I have noticeable marks on my right wrist from the relatively sharp edge. not as bad as when I tried to use a MBP, but still pretty bad. Anyone else experiencing this? I haven't read anything about it anywhere on this site yet.
Also, I am wishing I had gotten the matte screen. Therei s no angle that doesn't result in glare. My I9300 had a glare screen but it was subtle enough that it was never an issue. it seems like they are competing to see who can make the most ridiculously shiny computer displays. -

Yes, the edges are quite sharp. I don't like it but can get used to it as I love the system.
As for the matte screen, so far I am not liking it at all. Not bright and washed out colors.... -

I want to be able to turn bluetooth on/off without changing wifi [using the wireless button]. I haven't seen an option for that with the HP thing. Is there a way to do it in Windows?
 -

Also, has anyone gotten the three finger swipe to work in Chrome?
 -

Yeah, right click the BT symbol in the system tray and click disable.
 -

I see what you mean. Yeah, it was going to happen eventually. It is a known flaw in the design. I never mentioned it since I took for granted that most would know it, based on the design choices.
 -

find a host site for your driver package yet? why not post it on rapidshare or something?
 -

so sleey0, you going to hang on to your envy or what?
 -

rapidshare sucks and I won't use it (not sure if it will let me post a 260MB file).
I am uploading it as I type this to cmdcmvx's ftp site. As soon as it's done he is going to post a link here. -

depositfiles, megashares?
 -
yes, I actually think this is a keeper! my wife was VERY surprised that I am not sending it back.
One caveat: I am waiting to see the glossy screen before I truly decide as I don't care for the matte very much. -

Hummm, something weird I can't figure out. I downloaded the Heaven Benchmark and installed it on my Envy. On my desktop PC I can get audio but with the laptop when I run the benchmark I get no audio. Can anyone else confirm this or suggest what I need to do to solve the issue?
 -

anybody try the bad company 2 beta on this guy yet? or sis this better asked in the benchmarking thread?
 -

yeah, my wife rolled her eyes when i said i was going to hang on to this one... of course i may sell my vostro v13 and put it towards an M11X next month.
 -

Im not sure the problem, but i can confirm that I have audio on both my Envy Gen1 and this new Envy Gen2 during the Heaven Bonchmark.
 -

To get it to scroll more smoothly, you have to reduce the number of lines each "Scroll Down" does in the Control Panel > Mouse > Wheel Tab > Number of lines to "1"
It'll go in smaller increments and result in a much better scrolling experience.

I also noticed that the two finger scrolling absolutely sucks in Internet Explorer. I almost never use IE because I use Chrome exclusively (unless Chrome can't do something/incompatible with a website, etc). It works just as well as the MBP in Chrome. -

how have you guys found the heat on the palm rests? I have the 7200rpm and both palmrests are warm.. all the time. The palmrests are actually the warmest part of the machine as I am typing this (just web browsing). Does the SSD config not have this problem?
Whats under the left palmrest that is generating all this heat?
Also, the only bluetooth icon I have is a 'Bluetooth Devices' which when right clicked doesnt have a disable. -

The utility comes with your Envy!
      -

Hey Isramair, is that a battery guage under that popup? Does that come with the envy (name of app?) or is that third party? Can it show how much more time the battery will last for?
 -

Yes, it was laggy as hell, but I think that was EAs fault. I will try it again today. There is a banner at the bottom of the screen saying basically "we are aware of the lag, we are working on it".
 -
hey thanks what was your CPU? I"m looking at i5 for my budget..
 -

I know I can do it with the utility, but I want to be able to do it with the wireless button on the keyboard, instead of turning off both the wifi and the bt.
 -

i5 520. It is way more than enough to take care of the 5830.
 -

I'm going to put an i7-620m in mine very soon
      -

from where?
I think the 620M is way better than any of the quad i7s, if only we had switchable graphics.... -

shirly fu
      -

Most laptops are made internally with the back of the motherboard facing the keyboard and the front of the motherboard (with the CPU, GPU, etc) facing the outer casing. The Envy is the other way around, so you've got the CPU and gpu right under the palmrests and facing your hands as you type instead of facing the desk it is sitting on.
 -

I don't find it very warm.
Go check out a SXPS with the crazy hot touchpad that can cook an egg on it. -

I would agree if only the 620m had an on-die memory controller, 1333 MHz bus speed, and 6mb cache. But it doesn't, which is why Intel charges less for it. I personally can't wait till the 32nm quad cores come out, probably later this year.
 -

The i7-620 runs neck and neck with the 720QM.
Add in the 35W TDP/less heat and you have a winner
      -

I just don't understand why they used a gimpy motherboard on the i5 models. I wish I could get USB 3 and four ram slots.
Maybe a year from now I can drop in a USB3/Sandybridge Quad/4xRAM/switchable graphics/HD 6830 board into here. That would be so nice. -

Yes it is, Third party, and Yes it does... works great.
http://osirisdevelopment.com/BatteryBar/index.html
You need to but it really, but you set your own price. I paid $4 since it was good. paypal. -
It'd be cheaper to sell and buy a new one by then
      -

Big thanks to sleey0 for uploading the files!
http://www.foodsly.com/envy/Envy15Drivers.rar [260 MB]
The package contains Audio, BTooth, CardReader, Chipset, HPProtSHD, IMSM, Network, TBT, Touchpad, Video and WLAN drivers.
I installed the ATI 5830 video drivers on my laptop and it worked just fine. Time try some games! -

just like to point out that once again the people on the HP envy forums don't know what they are talking about. fredfrenzy claimed the SSD's would be G1's and it's clear to me that they are shipping with G2's...
 -

The Next Bench Forum at this point is a joke. I've asked more than a few questions and it appears HP simply ignores them. Unfortunately, they also don't do anything with their blog.
 -

We are still talking about FredFalsy?
Geez. lol
There is much better info here than at the nextbench
      -

Thanks! +rep to both you and sleezy0!
 -

I know!
One of my favs was "There will be ONLY ONE usb 3.0 port!"
Haha
