    What number did you call?

I called HP sales twice. The first time was when it had not been shipped out. I asked them to add that adapter to my order, and charge me accordingly. The woman answered phone simply told me she could do nothing, since it was already 'in production'. She even mentioned that the order configuration could not be changed, since if 'you did not have a hdmi-vga adapter in your order, your computer may not have a HDMI port yet'.. What an idiot!

The second time was five minutes ago. Again, they told me they can do nothing if that part is listed as out of stock. They asked me to run into local store like Staples to buy any hdmi-vga cable they have. I was speechless again..

Is this HP customer service supposed to be?

No OC on the vantage score. I think the SSD's are what boost the final score out of proportion (look at individual sub-scores). Have not tried to really max out or test stability on the GPU, the 3d mark tests @ 525/1025 never got the GPU above 67C. Have not found a sensor on the GDDR so I don't want to push memory any higher.

There was a 3Dmark06 (9656pts) and 3Dmark05 (16332pts) post with screenshots (O.C'd), and a seperate PCMark Vantage suite with screenshot (10793 pts no OC).

Sorry I didn't notice that the screenshots did not show what test version the scores were from.

The matte screen looks great to me! All of my business laptops have matte and i like it better on my eyes.

The SSD is SSDSA1M160G2HP and the OS is installed on the SSD, and not the 250

You have SSD tho right? The noise may be something isolated to the ones that have platter drives. At least I hope thats all it is. Would hate to have to deal with HP replacing it at this point.

I called the customer service number on my invoice - 1 (800) 474-6836. They also said that I couldn't change my order but that I could talk to the Parts Department. She transferred me directly so I don't know that parts number for HP. He found the part number (I was a little surprised because we were having a hard time communicating) and took my CC number. I was thinking that I wouldn't get anything but it arrived in about 2 days. You might try that.

I just checked since folks were saying that their computers were being delivered, and mine is also out on the truck for delivery! I wasn't expecting it until tomorrow. I need to clean up my current computer so I can start transferring stuff. It's amazing how much crap you collect over 5 years.

This is a work computer for me so I'm planning on upgrading over time. New SSDs next year.

Hey I forgot to tell you....When I loaded Win7 from my disk and finally got to the prompt for the product key I just hit next, thinking it would give me the option to continue with a 30 day trial. It just kept on going with no key and finished installing, so far have had no prompt or messages to register or purchase etc.... What's up with that?

A better opinion would be from someone who actually owns both versions of the display :)

I have a glossy coming in a few hours, but I don't have the matte to compare.

I think the glossy ultra brightview is great, good color depth, rich colors and its got a good brightness. the blacks are nice, comparable to my MBP, although I think my MBP is slightly brighter otherwise its one of the better screens I've seen. if I had this screen on my XPS 1645 I had a few months ago, I'd surely would have kept it.

See, that's the problem with tha matte. Colors are washed out and not vibrant.

I would like more brightness, but I could live with it if the colors are good.

I think xps rgbled is way better. I just got my envy with ultra brightview as well. I am not too impressed by the LCD and overall build quality. I like the keyboard though. The touchpad and palmrest are really bad.

I agree the RGBLED is supposed to be way betterm but when I had my XPS1645 the Primary colors were just way too saturated to be normal.. Reds in particular felt like they were burning your eyes. I could have had a bum screen but that was one of the reasons I jumped ship to the Envy..

So far so good, I just wish HP does what dell does, have a blank/full Windows media so one can reinstall without those 20 or so crap programs preloaded.

Who cares what the consensus is? If you like it, go with it. I got the matte because I'm tired of the glossy screen on my current notebook... can't use it anywhere near sunlight or anything that might put a reflection on it. I was constantly readjusting that machine to see what was on it.

Dang, how did you get the 620M?

I don't even see that as an option.

I'm on the phone with HP right now ordering up another one for the same pricing as the one I got.

Theres a really annoying electronic buzzing noise emanting from mine.

Agreed Pita, I really like the Matte screen on mine and I wasn't too fond of the glossy on my previous MBP.

In addition, I don't see what Sleey0 means by washed out colors. To me the text is sharp and the colors are excellent.

HP wouldn't budge when I tried to get them to match my price that I got.

The best they could do was $100 off and it still was a couple hundred more with a way worse cpu (i5-430).

I am not happy with HP about that.

Was not activated (29 days left). Put in the key code from the HP / MS oem sticker (under battery) and it popped up a 800# prompt, called it and talked to computer for ~5 min entering strings of numbers, confirmed and click next and it's now activated. Did not expect it to work but it did, maybe because it was from a valid retail install disc? but this was already activated on my Dell computer (single install version).

Wonder if i can do that again when I install on the anti glare machine?
