Great find. Same thing works if you search "envy 15" and click the cashback link on the first sponsored result. Rep+1.

anyone know what the actual hold up is? I ordered april 1 and it got delayed twice. from April 13th to the 21st and now the second delay from 21st to the 28th.
my config was for the i5-420m and 1080p glossy. Everything else stock.
Waiting a whole month for this thing to just ship is pretty ridiculous -

I tried to take a pic but it's a bit tricky.Attached Files:

EDIT: Ah, I see. I tried other similar displays and didn't get that same effect, so I didn't know what else to think. -

Finally I made the call to HP telling them to keep my order, it's the last day to do so before they automatically cancel. At first the rep says I'll keep the $25 coupon (already spent) and this 10% offer, but the $50 from the first delay will no longer apply. I was like umm hmm then I'm not sure I want to keep it blahblahblah. Put me on hold for a minute and says yes the 10% will be in addition to the $50, and the $39 shipping charge will still be refunded to me.
It is too bad I can't change it to the matte screen. I'm typing on the first Envy I received with the 1080p matte screen, it's beautiful! I have my Dell with the glossy screen sitting next to me, glossy sucks!!!
I decided to order the second one with the glossy because someone here says the glossy is brighter and sharperDon't listen to him, the matte is NICE! I could still be wrong with the HP glossy. We'll see.
-
The glossy screen is brighter and sharper. I owned both.
I liked the Matte screen a lot too. They are both excellent screens. It's not like the Matte screen is dim and fuzzy - it's just not quite AS bright or AS sharp. -
I was a little hesitant about the glossy because I've always owned matte and there was the potential for the glare, which I hate, but I'm pretty thrilled with the glossy.
When placed alongside the M1330's top notch matte LED, it really blows it away in terms of colors and sharpness. -
-
I have the matte screen and its great. I used a glossy screen before this and its just wasn't to my liking.
-
I've always owned matte in the past, but when one of my friends got their new laptop with a glossy screen, I definitely preferred it over what I had. I'm hardly ever outside or in a place with lots of light, so the glare isn't an issue for me.

I've only had matte screens in the past and I've always wanted to have a glossy one since the colors look a lot more vibrant... but I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. One of the best screens I've seen is on my 10" Eee 1000H netbook (matte screen)... it's so bright, clear and is even better than my desktop monitor.
Anyways, I don't think I'll be displeased with this glossy 1080p though - although I wonder if the 1920x1080 will make anything hard to read since it's on a 15" screen. I think 1680x1050 would have been perfect for a screen of this size, but then again I haven't actually seen it yet to pass any judgement. Anyone care to share their experience with this? -
Now, if we were talking about Windows XP, 1920 x 1080 on a 15" screen could be very strenuous on the eyes for most users. -
That's what I thought too about glossy screen, more vibrant colors and better contrast. I've been used to glossy screens for a while now. It was a bit of a wake up call seeing this matte screen without seeing my own reflection! This particular HP screen even matte is really nice, the most striking is the complete lack of any graininess, completely smooth. Color is easily as vibrant and saturated as my glossy XPS1340, a bit on the cool side that I actually prefer. The xps1340 (LED) is a bit brighter though. I'm hopeful that the glossy 1080p HP will be even better, in which case I'll live with the glare.
I don't know how many screen suppliers HP uses. The one currently in my possession looks like an LG (LGD0259). I have my fingers crossed that my glossy Envy 15 will have the same beautiful 100% grain-free screen. -
But for those reading this I don't think u should take it as glossy being better than Matte as it is brighter. I have a matte and I love it. I use my matte at 80% brightness. So I dont have a use for the extra brightness of glossy.
As Aquitaine wrote above, the glossy may be better but the matte is definitely not bad.
I keep writing this to ensure people get the full picture. -
Do you know if your Envy has the same LG screen I have? -
I never found that the Matte screen wasn't bright enough. I sometimes cranked it all the way up but usually didn't need to.
Again, I wouldn't call the glossy 'better' (redy) ... just brighter and sharper. If the Matte screen weren't bright enough to use then I'd be the first to say so. -
My XPS m1330's glossy LCD (non-LED) is usually at-or-near 100% brightness, since I'm almost always having to either a) compensate for reflections in bright conditions or b) provide enough light to see the keyboard in dark conditions.
Can't wait to see the 1080p Matte LED in my Envy! (too bad there's no keyboard backlighting to solve my 2nd gripe)

I don't think anybody here has foreknowledge of when coupons or BCB are going to happen, but you can bet that if they do, someone here will catch it (keep an eye on the tech bargains forum). -
ok thanks. i guess i just have to wait and check every once in a while

Has anyone who got the extra 10% discount Envys shipped yet?
It's the 27th and it's supposed to ship by tomorrow and I'm having some doubts if they are going to be able to make it... -
I'm still waiting for my i5-430m to ship as well
I'm not holding my breath. I made the order on April 1, this is getting silly. -
You'd think it would be much cheaper for them to just put one of the 520 or 540 chip instead of pissing off their customers through delays and offering huge discounts. I mean what was the cost difference between the 430 and the 520? Like $100? Well that 10% discount from last week would have covered that cost.
-
My original ship date was the 16th (placed order on April 7th). I then received an email telling me it was delayed until the 28th (with no 10% off coupon, maybe because it was only my first delay?)I called yesterday and was told my new ship date was the 29th. I'm not sure if that counts as another delay, but I pray that everyones envy's get sent out over the next couple days or people are going to grab their pitchforks and torches...
-
-
yea, i'm certainly not complaining about 1 day I know there are people that have been waiting longer than I have. I just hope its an indication that the parts have arrived and the laptops will be sent this week, not an indication that they are still stalling because of the shortage.
-
I ordered mine on the 29th, still waiting for it...
Have spoken to them 5-6 times, ended up knowing a resolution supervisor on a first name basis its been so long.
On the plus side, i5-430M, 4gb, 500gb HD, 1080p ultra brightview, external DvD and extra power adapter will be under $1000 out the door to my hell-hole state (thank you CA for you idiotic 11% sales + recycling taxes).
So even though its been a month, the perpetual discounts are adding up to a few hundred $$. Crossing my fingers it ships tomorrow as planned. -
I'm also on the wait bus. Orderd 7th, 16th est delayed to 28th. Still In production. Hope it gets out tomorrow but Prolly will be another delay at this point I imagine
-
-
Just got email saying mine shipped as well. Ordered March 29th.
Slight problem though (and I'm hoping it will be addressed in a followup email), my price is still the original price and they still have me as 5-7 day shipping. Hopefully its just an error in their email system, not the actual order. -
-
whoa just checked and mine shipped too!
-
Just got the email. As far as the refunds go, I don't think they'll show up on your order page. You should be getting them back straight to your bank account in 3-5 days, or so the rep. said. My shipping number just shows an error, but I figure Fedex just hasn't updated yet. Also 5-7 day shipping - were you guys expecting something else? I remember asking if it would still be 5-7 day shipping and they said yes.
-
-
Same here. Was told ALL orders that get delayed are automatically upgraded to 2 day shipping.
-
i guess there IS hope, still no love here for a April 1 order. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
-
No word yet. Ordered April 6th.
-
And I was told that the order will be upgraded to a 2-day ship. But the Fedex website has "International Economy Distribution" and is estimated to arrive a week from now. Did anyone whose order was delayed get the 2-day ship?
