Did you check the whites as well? There is a link on my first post that has a screenshot of a page where I typically see a lot of difference in the blue/green color - how does it look to you compared to the Sony?

My sony has a bluish white unfortunately, but compared to my phone, the envy's the same. I don't see any blue or green cast at all. As you can tell by the green on my sony, it's not the greatest comparison.

Reading this thread, I Suppose I got lucky with my 3200! My screen looks just fine and is much better in terms of color representation compared to my 3040nr. However, some of you mentioned your laptops having high contrast/ultra-bright moments on your laptop screen? I noticed my screen doing that after changing the DPI scalling from the default 125% to 100% (I love my desktop real estate :p) Anyway, I used CCleaner to disable a number of start-up programs, including the Intel HD graphics menu/options and ATI CCC apps. The problem went away entirely. Now I just need to figure out which program is causing the problem.

Ah, I know! I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who notices these things! Anyway, I didn't really uninstall anything. I just disabled the AMD & Intel HD graphics tray/menu from starting up with Windows. I do still have the GPU switching options (of course, automatic switching only, since we don't have the option for Fixed GPU switching in the BIOS with the 3200, unlike the 3040nr)

Although, I was running my laptop on battery, and mid brightness for a solid 4 hours or so, and suddenly, once it was at 10% low battery, it did it again! The contrast or brightness just got really bright or a few seconds and the screen dimmed to normal again. The heck!? I'm not 100% sure, but I think this might be software related.

I went through 3 HP repairs with my 3040nr, and all three times, the screen kept doing this. (They even claimed to replace the screen the last two times!) and my 3200 is doing the same thing!

At least my colors are perfectly okay this time! (Besides, this doesn't nearly bother me as much as the whole auto volume leveling issue with the Beats IDT driver. This and the screen brightness thing are the only two issues that I'm having with the notebook and it's very annoying! lol )

I'm now getting a second replacement. The first one had the felt issue with the DVD drive and a bump/dent in the speaker grill above the keyboard. Unfortunate, but it also gives me the chance to test a third screen which I welcome. Again I have to say HP Customer service was very helpful.

Received the third laptop. And I'm pretty upset: dent on the speaker grill above the keyboard, trackpad pops out slightly, loose bottom panel, color issues still the same - I'm guessing this is just the panel and I think if people tested theirs they would see the same results.
I should have just kept the first laptop. They upgraded me to a hybrid drive but that's not important at all for me since I have an SSD.

    Oy.

I didn't mean that anybody is blind, but it's hard to believe that 4 of 4 screens that I've seen have had the problem with blue/cyan. I'm debating tying another replacement, but I almost don't want to deal with it anymore; unfortunately there aren't many (powerful) laptops with a competitive screen and decent design. There's the Vaio Z, but it's 13", and I really don't like Apple.

I could try to push for a worthwhile upgrade, but I've pretty much spec'd my build out and the only thing I could use is a bump to the i7 38xx which I doubt they would do.

maybe thats what they r shipping to ur area?? idk :( and yeah thats the reason im still sticking behind hp even after hearing all the horror stories haha. and yeah they refused to upgrade me cause whats left is the last cpu upgrade or the ram from 8 to 12/16 which would be too expensive for them

They should all come from the same factory though. One of the screens I analyzed was about 0.4 points better at the cyan color the the others but that's about the only improvements I saw in the spectrum - oddly though it was 79% sRGB instead of 80% sRGB like the other panels.
