Thanks for keeping us informed. As it is, you seem to be the only one who's managed to receive their Envy, so your contributions are greatly appreciated. Reps to you!

Does anyone know the envy 15 able to connect any mixer?
-
Yeah guys, spread some Rep. I did.
-
Fail on HP's part. I have yet to receive the order delay email, but my order isn't expected to ship until today (1/19). Oh well, the longer they delay my order the more likely they'll be competing with Apple and their refreshed MBP for my money.
-
Good stuff. What is the chipset inside your machine?
-
My order still states that it is supposed to ship out today and I have yet to receive a cancellation e-mail either. Stuck in Limbo
-
1/19 people will probably get their email tomorrow (1/20). It sounds today's emails were for 1/18 people. What a mess. Problem is that my current envy's 21-day "evaluation" period will expire on 01/29, so I may be looking at a few days with no envy
-
um, evaluation period doesn't start until we actually get our laptops...
-
HP does this every now and then but I am pretty sure they will ship by the end of this week or early next week. For those who are getting $100 off or something else, I would definitly keep the system with that price since current prices are well above the deal you are getting.
-
do they need to receive the machine within 21 days, or is it 21 days to make the call to create the RMA?
-
Me too. I have yet to receive a delay email. Mine has an estimated build date of 1/19.
-
I don't think there will be a shortage of i5/i7 processor
but the 5830..... -
Just got a email from HP, but not about a delay yet. Last week, I sent a email asking about switchable graphics, usb 3.0, processor performance while on battery, etc. and their slow response was "I regret to inform that your notebook PC is CTO notebook PC. Hence, we are unable to find the exact specifications of the notebook PC." Pathetic.
-
Would you mind running 3D Mark06 and 3D Mark Vantage? A lot of people are curious how the Hd5830 performs...
-
If it delays, that a 100 buck difference for me..
I ordered the envy i7 with $300 off shipping to a place where needs tax and didn't cancel it because the built time using $350 off was near February.
Otherwise,I would just cancel the first order and re-order it shipping to my friend's home without paying the TAX....
T_T -
How can HP not know the specs of their own computers? They must have a lot of socially retarded engineers to not be able to communicate information properly...
GL on your purchases everyone, i'll be waiting for the i7 620m price to come down before i pull the trigger on this, however long that takes ;o -
nah their memos dont make it out or their reps dont know how to read.
-
Just got an email coupon code from ewiz.com:
"Save $10 on orders over $100 w/ code WINTER10
Expires 1/25"
This is where I got my 4GB x 2 memory upgrade from. -
Weird thing about my situation is that I DID receive a coupon email bot NOT a cancellation email.
Website status still says Order in production (Estimated to ship on January 18, 2010). -
Seconded! Would love to see those numbers.
-
Which one did you buy?
-
Does anyone know when the new Envy's will come out in Australia.
HP gave me a return authorisation for my 1021TX because they dont have any left (neither does the retailer) so apparently I have to take a credit and pick another laptop and i dont want to end up with a Macbook Pro, there are some things about OSX i just cant stand. -
I got 2 of these:
http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=D3-13S4GS
Paid $320 total plus shipping (had $20 coupon that is now expired). The prices seem to fluctuate daily, at the time I ordered this p/n D3-13S4GS (Samsung 1333's) which was $7 less than the 1066 speed parts. I would check both, they also offer a few different chip manufacturers. -
Any ideas what the timings are on that chip? IIRC, DDR3-1333 will run the same timings at 1066 as it does at 1333, so that could make it actually perform slower than proper 1066, especially since I doubt you can change that stuff in HP's BIOS/EFI
-
Thanks! Now it is showing 335 + shipping with the $10 coupon. I might wait for one or two days - no point in getting the memory early if the laptop is going to be as late as Feb 1st or 2nd week.
-
1333 @ CL 9 which should be close to the 1066 @ CL 7.
Your thoughts ? -
@ Pitabred
Just noticed your in Denver, Co. why don't you stop by the HP corporate sales office and see if you can get us some real answers ? I bet if you wear that flight helmut you should their attention
(or at least the security guards attention)
-
I think he had the same concern that I had. In your i5 Envy, wouldn't that simply run as a 1066Mhz DIMM only at CAS 9?
-
In performance it is. But if the 1333 is clocked at 1066 due to the CPU limitations it'll still have a CL9 it reports via SPD. That's why I'm saying it might perform worse than proper 1066 RAM, which would be 1066@CL7 instead of what you may essentially get, 1066@CL9
I'm actually working in Virginia this week
I might go kick down a door next week though. Not terribly likely, though... all 5'10", 160lbs of me isn't that imposing. BTW, the flight helmet is from the movie Hot Shots! I took a screenie of it and it's now my avatar.
-
never mind see next post
-
I thought latency flucuated with the clock speed.
So what your saying is I would need 1333 CL 7 (which are available but very expensive in 4GB modules) if the 1066's are CL 7?
I'll see if I can exchange for correct version tomorrow since it looks like there is plenty of time before the new system gets here... -
No, RAM is rated at different latencies at different speeds. It SHOULD decrease in latency when you run it at 1066.
Of course, emphasis on "should". If the BIOS doesn't do it properly then it doesn't get done and you are stuck at CL 9.
Go into CPU-z on your computer and it will tell you what the latencies your memory is rated at for each speed under the SPD tab. -
Is there anyone with an estimated ship on the 18th who has NOT received a delay email?
Is there anyone with an estimated ship on the 19th who HAS? -
To match the performance, yes. Or just get CL7 1066 modules. The latency numbers are reported to the motherboard via SPD. They're basically an "offset" in the number of cycles between requests. At 1066, the RAM can have fewer cycles between requests because the cycles themselves are longer. Since the Envy almost certainly won't let you tweak those values manually, you're going to be stuck with whatever values your memory tells the system it runs at. And if the CPU can max out at a 1066 memory clock, that means you're running CL9 @ 1066.
-
Just got off the phone with HP customer support. Pretended I was really angry about the delay (which I am, kinda) and they gave me $50 credit in addition to the coupon :]
The customer support person said that was all she was allowed to authorize, but who knows? Maybe it can go higher
Now to find something to buy with the $50 coupon. Any ideas? -
Thanks, good info....
Now I just need to confirm what the latency is on the i5 1066 modules which might not be easy to come by until someones actually gets one in hand (the 1066 CL 7 info was from an i7 model)
No sense reordering until I confirm this first, If anyone knows for sure please advise. -
call back up and say you want the slice for $125 then tell them you want to use your coupons on it so then you get a slice for $25
thats my plan -
I already got the slice
I figure I'll call if I get any email other than a shipping confirmation tomorrow, and I'll see if they can just give me the better shipping instead of $50. I don't need anything else from HP... I just want my machine sooner.
-
yeah, now that i think about it I don't need the slice and i'd hate to buy it just to have it sit around, I certainly wouldn't attach it if I knew I were going to be plugged in out there in the wild but if I knew I were going to run around all day with no reasonable access to an outlet then i'd want it but its rare that happens. Then again, I can't see anything I really want that HP offers besides that battery slice. May a free upgrade to dual SSD? of course they wouldn't do that...
-
No, it's my plan.
I think the slice might make me actually keep this laptop instead of getting something else. If they don't give me a free-ish slice due to the delay, it might go back. It all really depends on what it is like to use the thing day to day. -
Yeah I've actually been impressed with the elitebook...I might send it back for 8540w when it comes out...who knows. I'd rather have a firegl card though, a quadro is pretty much a deal breaker.
-
I was planning on bothering them later about the slice or maybe just an additional battery, but I'm not sure I even want the slice. If the laptop can last about 2.5-3 hours under light load (hopefully), odds are I won't need the slice.
-
Im going to do either Thinkpad T410 or MBP 13. There is also the Asus U30-JT which is supposed to be coming out with an i7 ULV.
Of course, I do want to be able to play Starcraft II on it, and there are osme reasonably gpU-intensive apps that I use. I really wanted the Envy 15 to work out, but the combination of the delays, the lack of USB 3, the lack of switchable grpahics, and the general annoyingness of it all is souring my opinions. -
With the slice on my Envy it was just over 8lbs, no big deal if you have a solid place to use it. With the power brick, slice, dvd drive and envy in my bag it was just as heavy as my Dell 1705 (w/ smaller brick) about 10 lbs.
-
yeah, the delays plus bad customer service are getting to me. I do like the T410...maybe it'll come down to the T series or the F series vaio and 1440x900 resolution isn't good for me. so i suppose the T series is out....
-
10lbs is doable but the only reason I would take the slice would be to leave the adapter at home.
-
That's a worst case weight which at first almost killed the deal. Loved the machine but ultra portable - not. I am now banking on reasonable battery life on 6 cell w/i5, carry a spare and small adapter and no dvd should be under 7 lbs total for travel or 5.2 lbs computer alone for field use in camera pack (maybe spare 6 cell).
-
The T510 has a 1080p IPS display. That is probably the best notebook display around right now, in terms of quality, so you can go for that.
-
definitely something to think about but that nividia card sucks some big ones. everything else looks ok if i had to i suppose an i7-620m would be sufficient. I'm gunna give the envy a chance and milk the delay for all i can before I change up stuff.
-
Ok hi, first time poster here on a forum ever...
So this idea of talking to millions of users over the internet is pretty cool (no i'm not amish)
So I planned on getting the HP Envy i7 but have read on some posts here from a dude from Colorado that he got a $300 discount coupon?
Here are my specifications:
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz
4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
410GB 5400RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (SSD 160GB + 250GB 5400RPM)
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5830 Graphics - For i7 Processors
15.6" diagonal Full High Definition LED HP Anti-glare Widescreen Display (1920x1080
Please do advise which parts I should take out, put in, change, etc.
P.S. Did the Envy just get a refresh or something?
Thanks
