Here's a link for user who have problems with the QLB's.
Attention to know: Only for users exactly what they do!
This version is standard equipment of each HDX. (also the last)
However, the rough version (install EXE) was only up HDX90xx "(for example HDX 9095EG)" in the "SW Setup" Root.
However, it is factory installed on each HDX.
HP has this version (QLB 6.20 Rev.F2 / SP35581) "from all the" Download area "away for about two years. (also because of the vulnerability)
see: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35581.html
and: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/
In my case only runs this version. Whether it is running on W7, I do not know.
The security update is attached.
I also thank "Schvvarzer Peter" and "Hennerich" from Germany.
At that time a lot of phone calls with HP, etc., but otherwise this version is getting nowhere.
In a SystemRecovery installed this version, though.

You already know this new version? (BatteryBar v3.3.1)
see: http://osirisdevelopment.com/wiki/Release_Notes
If not, then now.
-
Yep, thanks. Notification popped up this morning when I booted up.
-
yes this morning.
-
hey what options did you have on install? i unchecked start at startup, yet it still starts up, probably because i have the toolbar enabled. is that the best option?
-
I didn't check the floating toolbar during install. I like the old static taskbar toolbar. Simple, familliar, admirably gets the job done.

@ Comptrekkie
Nice that you're still alive. Even thought you and the hovercraftdriver hdx have sold.
Many thanks, that you then at least three of the SML have videos saved. "

I still have my HDX. :confused2: I use it every day! I also have all the videos on my media server. I only uploaded a few to photobucket though. I downloaded them just in-case they ever became unavailable. I actually view this site almost everyday. I just do not post all that often.

yes, not the floating. just the regular toolbar. but no startup checked (even though it still starts with startup because i have the toolbar view enabled).

That was really a surprise.
Had me very happy that "HDX9270EG Spielemaschiene in 20-inch" against becomes active. And now I see you have it.
Bin there, even from the start, but had never written.
-
Yes thats me on the german notebook page. I belive there are not much german people who own a HDX (the reason why the thread there has just 21 pages).
-
With my English, I should prefer to write in German.
Bei meinem Englisch sollte ich lieber Deutsch schreiben

Wie hast du die GPU-Test? mit welchen Programmen?

Hi Folks
Would someone send me a link as to where I can download f39 bios? Can't find it on HP website. Thanks in advance! -
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp40001/
The executable file in that directory is F.39. The CVA file is a text file that confirms this.
EDIT: oh wait, it was on their website. You have to hit the "version" link on the download page.
Anyway, here's from the BIOS section of the HDX files:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2100&product=3675225 -
It's not the GPU workload. It shows how much the GPU acceleration relieves the CPU. It's the workload of Firefox in the taskmanager.
-
I guess this replaces the battery icon in the task tray? What's the benefit to having this?
-
I'm considering a bluray burner for my Gragon (HP HDX9250EA) and thought I'd ask you egg spurts first. Any recommendations?
TIA
CJ -
Does this also work in Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit? -
UJ-220 (IDE) for an internal burner, which I believe you've need the PowerDVD software to do playback via Windows Media Player. I read that Windows Vista Service Pack 2 has blu ray plack back built in BUT sp2 seems to break the IDT audio driver, and one or two other things like the Matrix Storage manager possibly as well. I find the audio starts to crackle if you mess with the driver (as in uninstall and reinstall or use other drivers) so personally I leave it alone.
The other way to do it is to get an external burner like the GBW-T10N or GBW-B10N (has older firmware I believe, both I believe are SATA) via enclosure. -
no it does not replace it at all. it is immediately left of the leftmost icon in the system tray, and it's a toolbar that you can enable or disable by right clicking on the taskbar>toolbars>Battery Bar
it's pretty cool i think , it shows you a large numerical display of your battery percentage and/or how much time remaining, and when you hover over it, gives you the total capacity in maH, etc.
not sure if there is an actual benefit physically, but it's a nice thing to readily look at instead of hovering over the battery icon (which is still there). -
you are confusing blu-ray burning with playback. there wasn't ever any native blu-ray playback in Windows Vista or 7. QuickPlay will play blu-ray under vista; PowerDVD is needed under 7. The latter, v9 and above, integrates nicely with windows media center (not wmp player, which does not play blu-ray). All of this is blu-ray drive model independent. I haven't encountered your idt audio issues, neither under vista sp2 nor under win7 x64.
-
And I've downloaded 36 videos on my HDD.
You were certainly the only one who had saved them.
Again, many thanks!
Can you delete them now.

Another great app relying on the .NET Framework 3.5sp1:
http://www.getpaint.net/download.html -
This driver doesn't downclock. It runs at max clocks all the time.
Tested with and without overclock using GPUz 0.3.7.
Didn't test 3Dmark06.
EDIT: Downclocks using GPUz 0.3.4. Apparently GPUz 0.3.7 prevents this driver from downclocking when run. -
Comparing to the 195.55 driver referenced earlier, why would I want this one (186.91)? It seems much older...
BTW, I did install the 195.55 driver, and for some reason, I no longer have the nVidia Control Panel. Anyone else install the 195.55 and have the NCP?? -
EDIT:
Nevermind... it does work. Here's the thing:
GPU-Z .0.3.7 prevents the GPU from downclocking with drivers below 195. When I use GPU-Z .0.3.4, it downclocks just fine.
I did. The control panel worked just fine. The driver however didn't. It doesn't hold brightness properly. Especially after resume from suspend. I only noticed this when installing on 2nd HDX. One that one, it dims the screen a few seconds after wake and won't brighten up on input (mouse move or key touch). On my other HDX, it brightens the screen a few seconds after wake. Windows +X and clicking the brightness slider restores the set brightness.
Hopefully they will fix it once it goes WHQL.
Benefits of the 195.55 is Directcompute and OpenCL... which doesn't mean much right now. But it is faster than DOX 185.55 & the 186.81, & 186.91. -
Hmmm, I just booted up my HDX and it came up in 800x600 mode! I checked the driver (195.55) in device manager and it says that it's not configured properly and that it's not meant for this Windows platform.
I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it using the 195.55 setup program. Same thing--not meant for this Windows platform. I have Windows 7 64-bit...wonder what is wrong???
UPDATE: I redownloaded it again. I made sure the 186.03 (or something like that) was installed, and re-ran the 195.55 setup. This time, it seemed to work. I have it installed, and
device manager seems to think it's OK, and I have the nVidia Control Panel. Weird... -
You mean you installed the driver over another? Not the best solution but if it works, especially brightness after suspend, lemme know.
-
Results:
T9300, 610/975/1525 overclock - 3D Mark06
185.55 Dox - 9411
186.91 - 9486
195.55 - 9534
Gameplay in general, best with the 195.55. Crysis, COD 4 & MW2 noticeably smoother than the other two drivers which tend to jerk/stutter occasionally. Nvidia just has to fix the brightness issue and it'll be all good. -
It appears that with the 195.55, if you use "adjust desktop color settings - use nvidia settings", then is when the issue with resume from suspend brightness occurs.
If you leave it alone, no issues. Even dimming works properly.
[Yep - had to go back to the 195.55. It's that good.] -
Yeah, I know, but uninstalling the nVidia driver didn't seem to work before, so I went back to a "stable" state with a driver that Windows 7 auto-loads.
As far as the display dimming after resume--yes. It does that for me also with 195.55, but if you go into Windows Mobility Center, you can slide the brightness back up to maximum. It is odd why it does that... -
Hmmm...checked mine, and that setting is set to "Other applications control color settings", and I have the brightness problem. Maybe if I choose "Use nVidia settings" and then switch back???
-
Perhaps. But you installed it over another driver so that might come into play.
I also have Nvidia performance tools loaded so I can overclock. Might affect things also.
The Dv5 has the driver installed also with no dimming or resume from suspend issues. I didn't touch the color settings on the DV5. That's what gave me the thought to experiment with the HDX.
Goingt o try on the second HDX which had the opposite brightness effect... -
Free blu-ray playback under Win7 (if you manage to install it--it checks for an HP machine):

This new Feature is perfect. Brightness memory for "sleep mode.
This had me wanting to happiness.
195.55 remembers the manual adjustment before sleep mode, and puts them in her wake up again. (short delay)
For example: my default all plans 40% brightness.
Toward evening, I feel this is too bright.
I actually manually to 20% (Fn + F7).
Sleep After supper, my computer, I awoke him.
He starts with 40% (my default) and jumps to ca.2s to 20%.
Genial!
But I probably misunderstood you again.
-
I wasn't trying to confuse the two. I wasn't clear in what I was saying. What I was trying to say was if you put a UJ 220 in and don't have PowerDVD he won't get Blu Ray playback if he doesn't have that software since the drive (I'm told) wont work without it. So I would tend to think if he didn't buy PowerDVD and he'd have complications with burning, which he shouldn't, he'd at least want Blu Ray playback. A backup for Blu Ray playback could be SP2. If the drive plays Blu Ray with QuickPlay then great, he'll just need Nero for blu ray burning or some other kind of software for blu ray ripping and or burning (not advocating piracy but for the purpose of backups). I was trying to cover two different facets of use for the blu ray internal player and options as to what he could use for Blu Ray playback and then for Blu Ray burning. If you haven't encountered the problem then great to hear. I was just saying it was something I and others have experienced. I believe 2.0 stated this a while ago as well. I also mistated/had a typo with Media Player and Media Center. Thanks for correcting that for PowerDVD blu ray play back via Windows Media Center.
-
Maybe I repeat this question, but there was no answerer.
Who/somebody got the eject button working unter W7? -
I too installed the 195.55 drivers, definitely awesome drivers. They are faster than any I have tried. I completely uninstalled my current drivers and checked delete the driver. After a reboot Win 7 x64 installed the default VGA driver.
I then installed the 195.55 driver. So far I have not had any issue that I notice with dimming. I am at work right now and will play with it some more when I get home. It should be in sleep mode right now. Also not sure if it will have an affect but I have my power settings set to never dim the display just shut it off after an hour.
I tested MS Flight Sim X, Far Cry 2, Eve Online, and a few more games. Using FRAPS all got around 4-5 more FPS. Very nice, same amount I got with over clocking. The best was Need for Speed Shift the increase was 8-10 FPS thanks to the optimization built into the driver just for the game. Makes it much more playable. I went from 26 FPS to 34-36 FPS. It makes a world of difference being able to break the 30 mark. All games were tested with max settings at 1680x1050.
I was having so much fun playing the games I have not done 3DMark 06 yet. I will do that later tonight and see how the numbers compare to my previous drivers. -
I think I see where the confusion comes in at (at least for me). The BD-Drive on the Dragon doesn't burn Blu-ray, it only handles Blu-ray playback. It should be able to rip Blu-ray though, as that is really just reading the disc and copying the information to the computer.
-
Thank you for explaining it to me. If you disable it, does it truly cease running in the background like say a Process Explorer or HWMonitor would when you close them? Or does it stay running in the background to wait for you to enable it again? I JUST reformatted (a single Vista Ultimate 64 bit boot..though looking forward to getting Windows 7 at some point
, and minimized my tasktray items so that it's running very nicely, especially with the newest NVIDIA drivers, so I'm trying to keep it lean with regard to the task tray. I don't want to be in a situation where I'm pushing the machine and it starts lagging or closing out things in the task tray like volume or what not because too many things are running. Hmm I just noticed it's not showing Bluetooth, and I have yet to add SuperAntiSpyware..
-
Yes, but I do not know exactly what HP program was used to get it working. But I can give you the file names of all 3 that I used so you can try them all and see which one got it to work.
HP Quickplay - SP38361
Quick Launch update - SP38171
Quick Touch - SP37799
With those 3 installed, all of my buttons work except for the tv button and the webcam record button (strangely, that button now turns the light off for all of the other buttons. I thought I broke something once, but then I pressed it and all of the other buttons came back on lol). -
There is no Web cam record button. That is the theater mode button. It is meant to dim all other lights when you are watching a movie.
You gave me a good chuckle there. :-D
-
Ah ok, I always that that was a record button lol. thanks for clearing that up for me.
-
As i wrote earlier on page 827:
I use now:
HP QuickTouch Software - v1.00 C3 (SP37799)
HP Quick Launch Buttons - v6.50.7.1 (SP45889)
HP QuickPlay - v3.7.6310 (SP43325)
So no more HPKBDAPP.exe (QuickTouch) in the autostart and without that no
bass/treble. -
Yes, Vista SP2 (and Win7) does not playback blu-ray without third-party player. Plus, you still need a proper blu-ray burning software for BD-RE/R burning projects with your new burner drive, whether running Vista SP2 or Win7. Windows built-in burning is "primitive". PowerDVD cannot burn DVD or Blu-ray. Cheers
P.S. The CyberLink DVD Suite that comes free with the HDX on a separate DVD (not the one that is pre-installed on the hard disk) supports Blu-ray burning. -
True, yea it can rip blu rays. Have done it with AnyDVD. I tried to cover both playback and burning because without the right software only one can be available and possible.
