Thanks. you beat me to it. since 186.81 came out in august 2009, i didn't know how .91 would be possible for 2008.
Please let me know when you do. there is no official mobile version out however. still, would that mean that 3d driver that is 197.xx would work, if 197.xx 'regular' driver was used?
is there a link to the file for vista x64 version of the 186.91 version somewhere? is it better than the 186.81 for whatever reason?
lastly, when i go to device manager, i see my display driver version as 186.81, but when i right click on desktop and go to display settings>advanced>adaptor properties , then check driver through there, it shows some generic 2006 microsoft driver...when it normally would show the same as device manager listing.

No, NVIDIA were quick to disable this possibility on laptops, so that you are forced to buy one of the newer 120Hz notebooks:
http://3dvision-blog.com/no-more-3d-vision-discover-with-3d-vision-195-39-beta-drivers-on-a-laptop/
186 is the highest possible version for our HDX. -
look at the last post. it says only that discover mode whatever that is, is not possible?
"There was no problem enabling 3D Vision when a 120Hz external display was connected with only the external display enabled The whole problem was that you could not enable the 3D Vision discover mode anymore with the above drivers and that mode is available and working with a pair of anaglyph glasses on any normal display."
anyone have the setup file for 186.91? -
That link in my post is the setup file for 186.91
-
duh...thanks! i thought it was the 197.xx you referred to in that same post.
you know why driver shows under device manager, but generic driver shows under display settings adaptor properties? just curious. -
1. That's Discover for Desktops, not mobile GPUs (for drivers >186). Desktops can run Discover whatever the driver version is (up to the very latest drivers 197.xx), but if you want Discover on a notebook with 60Hz screen (like the Dragon), stick with 186.
2. 3D Vision 120Hz/shutter glasses (much better colors) is indeed available on newer notebooks that ship with 120Hz screens, and also if you have an external (supported) 120Hz monitor connected to your notebook. -
does anybody have the link for 186.91 for the 32 bit version? Also on the drivers issue, what is the best audio drivers you guys are using, that gets the best sound out of the hp hdx dragon?
-
For some reason when I try to use the cab it says it can't find drivers I guess that it's supposed to have there already? What am I missing? And why is this so difficult... lol??
-
did you extract the cab to a folder on your computer, then run it from a setup file within?
-
It's been a while since I've used a Vista machine, but are you sure you are not talking about the monitor properties? Even in Win7, mine is still a generic 2006 driver from MS.
-
Here ya go misterb:
http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/25074-v18691-windows-7vista-32bit-nvidia/
Primary audio driver is the IDT .5607...there is an older Sigmatel .5511, but the 5607 is the latest and greatest. -
i'm sure it's the same for 7. no monitor is on another tab, and it's respective properties button. talking about adaptor properties under display settings>advanced, or however you would get to it in 7.
-
+ rep 10 char
edit:
Should I uninstall NVIDIA drivers first, or it doesn't matter? Also do you have a link for that sigmatel, can't seem to find the driver??
-
Here is the link to both.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3547191
Wait for 2.0 to weigh in though. The 5511 is more of a generic driver, but he can explain the differences or the preference to use one. IIRC, he uses the 5511 with SRS audio sandbox, which I don't use, so you may want to use that instead. -
What does Nvidia control panel system settings tell you?
-
ok I'll wait for 2.0
ok you're gonna want to shoot me, but where do I find the 186.30 3D stereoscopic video driver? The only Nvidia driver I could find is the 197.13?
Edit:
is this http://www.nvidia.com/object/Quadro_winvista_x32_186.30_whql.html the right driver? -
With SRS audio Sandbox, which is also an audio driver, I use 5511 because it is a little lighter in weight. So there's no audio skips or audio lag. Especially in streaming music and games. Otherwise, I would use the 5607.
The 5511 I use is from Microsoft, not HP. You can get the 5511 via Microsoft update. 5511 from Microsoft has no bass/treble control. I let SRS handle that and more. -
I've found that under Win7 the MS 6.1.7600.16385 driver gives much better performance than 5511 and 5607, sub even works. I've been using it for 3 months now.
But this is only important to those running Win7 ofcourse. -
I was originally using that one. Can't remember the issue I had with it when using it as an tunderlayment for the SRS sandbox. Perhaps there wasn't one.
Will have to try it out again. -
The only issue I had with the MS driver is that bug where Supreme Commander had no audio, although the expansion works fine for whatever reason. But that has been an issue with every driver that isn't 5607 for me.
-
186.81 when i click that little tiny link in the lower left which says sytem information.
other than that, nvidia control panel talks to me in my sleep, telling me..."there is a new future ahead with a HDX II and the bestest nvidia card".
then i wake up
-
Now I just thought about it. 2010 IS truly the year of the Dragon, not the Tiger as some Chinese would have you believe. If it had to be a year of some notebook or another...it would be our Dragons. You know why right?
-
OK, I'll bite. Why is 2010 the year of the Dragon?
-
because we have 3D(ragon) btw modern warfare 2 on 3d is awesome
-
wow! i was afraid you'd get it too quickly
ok ok ..i will say it.
It was staring right at me...I probably think a little differently i know...
2010 is the year of the HDX Dragon because.....
rep me for creativity
our precious Dragon has a 20.10" screen! The only one!
:GEEK:

nooooooooooo. this is the last and only one with support and parts readily available. dell and acer are dinosaurs with no support/parts.
Dragon is the most powerful. -
Can we get a link to this please? I have searched that number and all I'm finding is Win7 RTM and/or a realtek driver.
-
ehm which of the 2 links is 5511?
-
-
It's the win7 default driver. You'd have to uninstall and delete whatever drive you are using from device manager to get to it.
I remember using it with win7 beta. -
6.10. 5511.0 A
-
I remember Lancorp and I were trying to solve the iTunes skipping issue with the default win7 beta sound driver, 6.1.7600.16385.
Probably RTM defaults 5511. -
holy crappers how did I miss that
-
Ok to stream audio from the internet, which driver should I pick 2.0 or hovercraftdriver?
-
will probably sign up for technet very soon when office 2010 comes out. then i will have 7 and other ms products.
-
*Gushes praise effusely* As usual, you da man. Seems to work well here. The enhancements sound much better on my headphones in-game, which is what I use most anyway. Don't really notice a big difference in speakers, but haven't played any music yet. Thanks bro.
-
I don't stream much internet audio; the occasional ESPN or news video. Don't see where it would make much difference. As always, each person has their preference. I would just try each in different scenarios and see what YOU think sounds best. I'm trying the default Win7 driver now as you've probably read. Will be a bit before I form a final opinion. I like the 5607 over the 5511. Good luck!
-
Right, now I remember the other issue. The default win7 driver doesn't engage the 2nd headphone jack. Just headphone jack #1.
Anyway, the driver works well with SRS sandbox. I wouldn't recommend it for those without it. The driver is missing a number of enhancements. Plus no bass/treble control. But the subwoofer works fine.
Everyone else should stick with 5511(from windows update by updating the default win7 driver from device manger) or 5607 from HP's website. -
I don't remember.. hmm. does it make a difference if I put it in a folder or double click it from within the cab/rar opened file? I THINK I did do it from a folder. But which one do we install first, the 186.91 right? -
not sure...i never tried that. just wondering if you extracted it manually, first then run it. 7-zip is free and has right click options (very handy).
-
-
Wait, which is better in Windows 7, and which sounds better, the default Windows 7 driver or the 5111 with SRS and without? I'm thinking of trying SRS again when I reformat and put Windows 7 on, hopefully it won't lose audio all together like it has been for me in Vista after some use or after the screen shuts off, until a reboot. I realize 5607 sounds best without SRS, but has the crackling and pops with SRS, but I was wondering which is best sounding in Windows 7 with and without SRS. One thing I like about SRS is how the loudest volume is much higher, which is great for use with my headphones.
-
I'm pretty sure I tried both ways and it said the same thing.. that it couldn't find drivers for some reason. I'll try it again though. -
They both perform equally well. Haven't had enough time to really put them through their paces. Though I prefer the 5511 with SRS Sandbox simply because the 5511 driver recognizes both headphone jacks.
-
hi ... I have a hdx 9450es but the screen goes black and get an nvidia kernel error device stopped working and recovered ... please someone knows how to fix it? I have the updated drivers and bios ... please help ... thanks
-
The infamous "nvlddmkm.sys stopped responding" Vista issue?
What OS, Vista 32/64? SP1 or SP2? What Nvidia driver version? Latest offical drive is 195.62.
Can get it here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
But I'd recommend 186.81:
