Nice. I may have to go to DVD quality because HD is getting expensive.. I'm thinking maybe the cheapest way to go about this is to get a nice fast Blu Ray burner like I originally wanted to, and just buying blank Blu Rays to burn HD videos and Blu Ray backups. I just did a backup of my PC it took 10 hours and I think took up 15% of the hard drive.. the capacity is going fast.. I'm going to need to do something about this craziness.

Digital Persona Fingerprint Reader Software 4.1.0.3790 REV: A is new?
CompTrekkie already referred to the 4.11.3805.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to update from 4.11.3805 to 4.11.3826.
Either install the 4.0.1.3749 A2 and is dating from this to the 4.11.3826.
Here is a link to the 4.0.1.3749 A2 32/64bit and explanations.
Caution: Installing In no event listed there, "Validity fingerprint driver"!
This does not work on the HDX.
Or this version looks for the network.
4.11.3826 includes additional energy schemes and runs great with me.
Whether or not an update available from 4.1.0.3790 to 4.11.3826 is I have not been tested.
Addition: The following new drivers side work for me:
1st HP Quick Launch Buttons 6.50.16.1 (no improvement regarding TV button)
2nd HP Integrated Bluetooth Module 6.2.1.1100
3rd Synaptics Touchpad 15.0.13.0 (no change visible)
@ 2.0 / Nvidia 8.17.11.9744 I not been tested. -
However!
I had already explained here precisely.
Unfortunately, it always fails in the translation.
Anyway, here QLB has no effect on this behavior.
I still use 197.16.
Windows + X changed the default setting in your current power plan.
Pay attention to times this behavior!
(Windows + X does not work temporarily).
However, one has seen through this behavior, you can live well.

Hello ... I wanted to know if I can place the processor X7900 on my dragon? Do you have any problemn? Is it very difficult to put it? ... Also wanted to change the hard drive What you recommend me? thank you very much
-
my european trip is curtailed
damn volcanos. -
It's just too hard to find that sweet spot between system brightness and Win+X setting as it reverts to some other setting. Hardware brightness Fn+F7/F8, messes the whole thing up also.
Thought I could live with it, but turns out I can't. So I'm stuck with 186.91 probably for the duration of HDX ownership. -
That's a bummer. Though at least we get to have you around for a few more days.

Ack! My OCZ LE has been RMA'd. I guess there's a pretty high percent of defectives even at the less than 200GB quality.
Still worth it though, yeah? -
Low percentage. But yes, most definitely still worth it.
What was the issue BTW? -
Digitalwindow Notebook Evangelist
No recognition at OS clean install (win 7 Pro) (as Disk O or 1), no recognition at normal boot (vista) except in Manager (not Management) but just sometimes and as 'Drive'. The OCZ tool can't locate of course. I tried all of this as well in an intel PM45 with same null. I don't happen to have a 2.5/3.5 adapter because I'm purebred lappie.
I'd be jahoogling if you know fix for this.

What do you guys think of this as an alternative to streaming digital 1080i HD videos and using up tons of storage on hard drives? I was thinking of getting an internal or UJ 220 or external UJ 240, but 12x Blu Ray burn speeds sounds a LOT better than 2-4x. I also figure buying blank Blu Ray disks will be a lot more affordable than buying more hard drives, and all the HD digital files that one has recorded can be burned to the disks as well:

The BD-2205 I guess is the retail version. -
I hangout at the OCZ forum quite a bit. I have seen quite a few LE owners having issues lately. Looks like most are FW related. I now Ryder and the crew over there are working on it.
The majority are fine though.
I have worked directly with Ryder and Tony with issues I had with my OCZ Vertex. They are very competent and willing to help. There is an issue with the 1.5FW updated with certain SSD's. I am not sure which ones. It has to do with the type of NAND and controller combo. After flashing the drive will start to have corruption issues. If you hangout at the site for a bit you will see quite a few. The percentage is low, but enough to be an issue.
I have spent a few weeks testing different flashers and FWs for him. I believe my problem has been fixed with a custom destructive flasher and FW. I know he has made them for others as well and is close to an all-in-one solution for all of them. -
@RickiBerlin,
A fix for the brightness control issue from standby/resume for 197.17-197.25:
Using a modified nv_disp.inf from LV2GO Delete the following line under mobile tweaks section.
HKR,, EnableBrightnessControl, %REG_DWORD%, 1
Reinstall the driver.
Works per se... still addressing one other issue.
EDIT: Nevermind. Doesn't work. -
Hahahah, I remember the good ol' days when you'd transfer files between computers via 1.44MB floppy, or the even more enjoyable 5 1/4 diskette =)
-
I'd probably die if we still have to use those today, so fragile....
-

This is great to know. Thanks. I just wish my pc would let me also touch the drive in OS instead of just in my hands.
I am sure I'll get one working since the significance does say 'they work'. Just funny that I can call my SSD a brick when they are already. -
The best thing about the 5 1/4" floppies were that no matter how many you had in your disk box, you could always squuuuueeeezzzzzeeee in just one more.
That benefit went away with the 3 1/2".
With a notch-hole puncher (or if you were really good with scissors) and a hole punch, you could turn your 5 1/4" floppies into flippies!! (poor man's dual sided disc) -

Did any of you use a Commodore PET? I vaguely remember playing Warlords on one and probably spent more hours on that than on Crysis.
-
I did! I still have it - in the garage or attic somewhere. It was my first real "I own it" computer. What fun I had with it. Good ol' character graphics...them was the days.
-
Yep, but only minimally. My first computer was a Commodore 64.

Hey 2.0,
I am looking to upgrade my CPU and Ram, do you know of any reputable dealers.
Just a thought since you have helped me in the past. If you have an interest in Futures I use a neuro complex event process for trading. It is highly intuitive and extremely advanced. -
I buy all my CPU's off eBay. Never an issue. Not even from China. Though, it can take about a week and a half and then some to receive it.
As for RAM, Newegg, Crucial, Zipzoomfly have served me well.
I'm old school-ish when it comes to trading. NinjaTrader coupled with TT or Zenfire is the pinnacle of my trading technology. I have a friend who does esoterica and uses the new Wave59 package. -
Hey guys, I just found your forum today - what a great find!
I was wondering if you could help me.
I've got an HDX9160ea and I was wondering if I could install Windows 7 on it.
-Is it possible?
Thanks!
-Doug -
Many of us have done it already. Works great. You'll love it.
Here's a post of drivers:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5665765&postcount=8954
You can find ATI driver on ATI's website. V 10.3. -
Thanks so much 2.0!
Have a great day
-
Just one question sorry, it says on this page x64.
My current OS is Vista at 32bit, am I to install windows 7 x64?
I'm not too great at this kind of thing sorry, just wanted to make sure I did it all correctly -
You can install Win7 32. Just D/L the respective 32 bit drivers.
Though, I'd recommend getting and installing win 7 X64. -
Ok, thanks very much
Luckily I'm a student so I can get the x64 for free
Thanks very much for your help! -
I have update my Win7 install/Driver page.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5665765#post5665765
I will try and keep this list updated as new drivers are released and confirmed working. -
How'd you make out with the new Intel SATA drivers? My system reported slower and less consistent speeds and manual GC on firmware 1.4 slowed to an absolute crawl. Had to Acronis back to Microsoft driver.
-
For me all my numbers went up after installing the new Intel RST drivers. I have FW 1.5 which has Trim & GC combined and a better wear leveling routine. I have not had to run any kind of maintenance software for a few months now and it maintains almost most new numbers at all times. The new 1.5 FW did a good job of keeping its performance even when I was using the Microsoft drivers. The increase is nothing earth shattering but being that hey are free, now pass Trim, give a little boost, and have no adverse reactions (for me) they were a no-brainer.
I was one of the people that initially had corruption issues with the 1.5 FW. But it has been a little over 4 weeks now with the fixed FW that Ryder over at OCZ got for me and I no longer have the issues. It use to be every 1-2 days all data would completely corrupt and I would have to restore an image from right before the update to FW 1.5.
During the course of my testing the new FW I did run many tools like AS Cleaner w/FF and filling the drive with IO Meter without issues. But I never ran the actually Wiper due to GC being built into the FW so I cannot confirm if that particular program give me issues as well. I would test it, but with FW 1.41 and 1.5 you are not suppose to run wiper as it could cause conflicts with the controller’s built-in GC.
The only thing I do is Run Perfect Disk 11 and use the “consolidate free space option” every month or so. This usually reclaims 3-8GB of space lost to random writing of small files all over the place. It is much more aggressive than GC so I use it sparingly. It makes more rights to the drive but at the same time it gives the controller more space to use for wear-leveling helping the drive last longer in the long run. -
Have you any of you tried using this eSATA hub with your Dragon (or any other machine)?
http://www.sataport.com/
http://www.cooldrives.com/sahub5muussi.html
It's on sale at that second link for $99. I think someone here mentioned that they were going to try but if they reported back I must have missed it.

Does this mean disc and SS drives have no significant loss difference during R-W? -
I have one drive with FW 1.5 on an ATI based tablet. HDX's and Dv5's are all running 1.4. Since there's no desktop around, I'm stuck at this FW.
I probably should update the chipset driver and try this out again.
I also use PerfectDisk 11 and FreeSpace Cleaner periodically to top things off.
EDIT: same thing as before (Super slow manual GC) with updated chipset driver. Actually, now that I think about it, updating the chipset drivers would void TRIM. -
That would have been me. I never ordered it, so I can't comment on the eSATA hub. It was just far, far cheaper for me to make a couple of stacks of USB 2.0 hard drives with what I had laying around.
I have to put up with the drives "going to sleep" every now and then, but they're strictly data drives so that really isn't an issue for me.
Apologies for not bringing closure to this subject!! If YOU do purchase it -- I'd be quite interested in a quick write-up!

Okay, when this seller writes:
Setp Code: Q4JJ (ES Version same as original SLAQJ / SLAZ3)
Is there any way a SLAQJ could be the same as SLAZ3? -
Hey Guys, If anyone is looking at getting another Dragon (or for those here that don't have one and want one
), I found a couple of ebay auctions that have some HDX9014nr models. I am thinking of getting one and swapping some of the parts out for my Dragon.

No worries. I'm very tempted to order one to save time when copying data between external drives. eSATA enclosures have spoiled me. I'm just about finished setting up my my new Drobo S.
If I do buy one, I'll post my thoughts.
[L] -
Both SLAQJ / SLAZ3 are retail and have C0 stepping. But Q4JJ is not like either of them. X9000 ES Q4JJ has M0 stepping. Something you don't want.

Much appreciated 2.0. It's been awhile since I bummed ebay because of that type of that surreptitious lingo for non-all-knowing like myself. -
As I have stated before, I hate putting out info that I haven't tested, but here is a link to new IDT 6.10.0.6276 driver that contains the WRT M8-1.INF that covers our IDT sound. It may or may not work, but was pulled down from MSupdate. Top driver on the list:
http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/23793-latest-sigmatel-idt-drivers/
edit * Doesn't work...tried altering .inf in several ways, but still no joy
-
Was waiting for someone to guinea pig it. I've pretty much locked down my setup. Playing around with Nvidia drivers greater than 186.xx only to come back to the 186.91, has wasted too many hours of my life.
So now I'm sitting back and waiting for reports. Saw you posted about the unified Nvidia drivers coming up. If they fix the wake from sleep/hibernate brightness issue, I'll bite.
Sounds like I'm retiring doesn't it?
-
Retirement? Meh...grass isn't always greener bro...what little I know of you seems like you'd go nuts
Anyway, I would seriously consider the new 197.45 NOTEBOOK driver from MSUpdate or LV2Go. I didn't like the modded desktop set of same number, but these really seem to work well. I wasn't experiencing the brightness issues, because I only adjust infrequently via the normal keys, and I don't do hibernate/sleep on my lappy. I only have screen turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity. 24/7 till it burns up, I say
But I did try it out last night after you posted this and it works fine for me. Saw someone else (with different rig, I think) say that their brightness issue was corrected as well.
Temps are fine, frames are fine, graphic quality is great IMO. Plus it's WHQL and has 3Dvision support.
If anyone uses the LV2Go version, make sure you delete the nv_disp.inf, and use the nv_whql.inf in the zipped 'additional inf' folder that comes with the driver. -
Right, so I tried them out and yes, they are the best yet. They do have the brightness issue. It only crops up after resume/wake if you touched the f7/f8 brightness. And the issue is permanent once you do.
So perhaps the method would be to set brightness with a driver 186.91 or older. Then uninstall the QLB button driver, then uninstall the the video driver until you get back to the Micorsoft VGA driver. Then install the 197.45 or later driver and there should never be an issue with brightness since you can adjust it using hardware keys. Also, brightness shouldn't be adjusted with Win+x either. -
This is NOT 3D Vision Discover, so useless on the HDX, unless you spend $$$ on an external 120Hz LCD monitor, and then it's no longer a notebook. The last driver to support 3D Vision Discover on the HDX and its 60Hz screen is 186.91.
-
Right...well, I don't use the 3D anything...so the driver says 3Dvision, so I stated it was there...sorry for any confusion.
