    Hi Everyone,

I've got an odd problem. I've been slowly gaining longer and longer Vista boot times (+three min.) and tried to nail down what was wrong. In the process I read that you can disable that crawl with the four or five boxes that goes left to right across the bottom of the screen when booting. It was supposed to help save boot time, it doesn't, and when I went back to try to get into BIOS upon boot-up I found I can no longer get into BIOS at all.

Any ideas on how to access BIOS on boot? It was never a problem until I killed that start-up screen mentioned above.

    Thanks.

Eh, sad days coming up. HDX9000 is dying, BSOD few times a week, half of touch buttons no longer lit or working, crack in screen bezel. I love this computer, and even my new Alienware M17X R1 doesn't fill it's shoes. Sad sad times.

Last year I did a heart transplant on my HDX9000 using an SSD for the OS. Then I did a brain transplant using Win 7. It was then like I dropped an injected 572 into a '67 Corvette. The only thing I miss in Vista Ultimate is the Hold Em poker game. Does anyone have Hold EM working in Win 7 Ultimate?

I'm now trodding down the path to keeping my HDX running until wonder boy "2.0" leads us back into temptation by admitting he's replacing his HDX's.

I have to say thank you to all who have contributed to this great forum as it has allowed me to keep mine alive.

If you're ready for the funeral, then you have nothing to lose. Get the link to the system manual from 2.0, a computer tool kit, search eBay, and start replacing stuff. I looked, and there is a palm rest, which includes your quick play bar, for a buy it now of $49. Buy an SSD. Upgrade to Win 7. Go nuts.

Sad news indeed. However, the death of one dragon could breathe life into another. If you decide to go the dismantle and sell route and you have the GeForce 8800m GTS GPU drop me a PM please.

I would deffinately consider helping out others by parting out my computer. Sorry, I have the M76 XT vid card, aka Radeon HD 2600. Has the HD DVD player, still working, as well as working remote. Recovery discs as well.

I have a problem with ping on win7.\
    Game CoD2.
Using Vista on the same server (DeD1) I have ping ~40-60. On Win 7 100-120 and more.
System clean. Nothing in the background works. AV and FW off. The newest driver.

    My ping tested on pingtest.net

got a basic question for all you HDX guys.. i own an HDX 9399sx, which has the 8800M GTS chip. Am i able to upgrade this? If i'm not, and the chip craps out.. what are my options?

Edit: Ok i talked to HP just to see what some options are.. it's definitely not upgradeable. So if it does die i'm looking at a motherboard replacement, now if that is done, can it be an upgraded motherboard? or upgraded chip on the motherboard or does it have to be the same one (most likely 464591-001)? And i haven't the slightest idea of where to purchase one relatively cheap, can someone direct me?

You'll have to google "454311-001 UK" to find a distributor that is located in the UK or one that sells and delivers to the UK.

For example: Hewlett-packard VGA video circuit board (NVIDIA) - 454311-001

You don't need a motherboard, just the Nvidia 8800M GTS MXM card from HP. The one from HP made for the HDX is the only one that works. Skip eBay.

    See the service manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01279508.pdf

As for changing/upgrading the CPU, that can be done also. Your options are T9300, T9500, X9000.

Only reliable place to get a new motherboard is from HP parts.

Undue what you did from within Vista.

This might help: Enable Hidden BootScreen in Windows Vista - How-To Geek

    Recheck the Gui boot option.

As for BIOS screen, that shouldn't have anything to do with what you did since it is before the OS even loads. The problem might be that you are set up to boot to external display. Hit Fn+F4 at boot to switch display modes.
