hey people, i'm attaching some pictures of a laptop hp will be releasing in a few months time. my friend who knows some designers there passed them along and i guessed some people would be interested in seeing. i don't know much about it other than it's gonna be a big ol' 20" screen notebook, the new intel processors, for gamers and have a ton of ports and media options.
enjoy![]()

I went ahead and merged the two posts so that all the attachments were together.
Might I ask WHERE you got this excellent find? Edit: I see where...can you get any other info for us? Anything from HP/Voodoo like this is definitely worthy of a news story if we get enough. -
20 INCHES?
Holy crap, that's freakn' huge!
And with remote control enclosed within the laptop, sweet....
Is that the finger scan reader I'm seeing on the top center?
Wonder how much that will cost... -
Woah, look at that, treble and bass adjustment on a laptop? It certainly seems like this would need a 20" chassis to house a controller, keyboard AND number pad. That's crazy. I'm not totally sure what the benefit of having a control take up all that space by sitting there is, but neat looking all the same.
If you could find out any graphics card info (you mentioned it's a gaming laptop) that would be pretty great. It's safe to assume they'd put the Santa Rosa chipset in this, unless they wanted to cripple it. I'd assume Blu-Ray, HDMI and all the other multi-media goodies would be part of the package too.
And look at that anchor / battery they've got on the back. The weight has to be horrendous. -
Well at least the payment plan is reasonable
Option 1. First born
Option 2. Right arm -
is that really a laptop? or a portable super-computer from the near future?
-
brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
A dockable remote control?
Looks like Rahul Sood's Voodoo crew has been busy. -
If it is lighter than the M2010 and has better than a X1800, then HP'll have a winner on their hands.
-
Lock up your children and put ur arms behind your back cuz Im willing to trade as many kids and arms as I can to get me one of those hehe
-
holy crap thats huge, when a laptop gets that big is it really portable anymore? lol, i would prefere to get a desktop lol
-
wow! This looks lovely. The remote looks great. Keyboard looks clean and the media buttons, futuristic!
-
wow ... it looks great
-
any specs yet?
-
Damn, that's sexy.
-
wish i had the cash...looks cool
-
Why not
-
It looks awesome, however I think it will come with a very hefty price tag...
-
damn....makes me wish I'm not so in love with ultraportables....
-
Awesome machine! Wow! I hope it isnt too heavy, like the Dell XPS M2010
-
They should fix that right shift key and make it full sized. Why can't they do it like before? Have the arrow keys stick down a bit.
-
i LOVE that swirly dragon-ish pattern that they've added to the HP imprint finish
i hpe they implement it on the dv series laptops soon... -
Hey ac2816, You don't know anyone who knows the designers for this product. I don't know how you got these images but the HP police are already on the beat. I would tell you that you better start covering your tracks, but that would be a waste of time.
-
wow kungfu you registerd just to say that...... WRONG.....
ANYWAY if HP where hunting him down (if this is truly legit pic's) they should be thanking him... i was going to go with Sager but if this is released sometime soon im going to stick with HP (as long as their cooling solution for the GPU/CPU doesn't SUCK like it does in the DV9000 series)
KICK A$$ is all i have to say about the looks (on a side note if anyone from HP is listening.. remove the remote eject button from in between the KYBD and the Remote and put it above or below the remote and GIVE US A NORMAL SIZED RIGHT SHIFT.... 2nd most annoying HP Feature...) -
-
-
Yeah it annoys the piss outta me... i thought i would conform and get used to it however it seems that after 4 months i still havent gotten used to it and i even tried gluing cardboard to it and removing the up arrow key... that didnt work to well...... but damnit i cant stand it...

Just saw this HP Pavilion HDX 12 lbs 20" monster at Engadget, and I like what I see.
Funny enough I'm also excited by news about the HP Compaq 2710p 3.64 lbs 12" convertible tablet, as I've been wanting a Santa Rosa replacement for my aging ThinkPad ultraportable tablet (and Lenovo hasn't announced anything yet).
So I guess across the whole spectrum of laptops, I'm becoming more impressed with HP. -
damn that looks sweet. I can only imagine it's performance.. I also noticed most gaming laptops don't tend to be small, so oh well do what ya gotta do..
-
I would like to know how much it is going to be, and most importantly, what video card is in the system. Without a DX10 video card, and I would be shocked if they didn't have a high-end in it, its not worth getting.
-
Knowing HP, they will screw up somewhere to prevent it from being the perfect laptop though.
Dont get me wrong, that looks like an awesome laptop, but it already has a few flaws just from looking at the pics. -
May 16 NY Times Review of the HDX.

Wow!! SICK!! - but heavy as ****...I already have issues lugging my DV6000t with power cord aorund...

Sneaky_Chopsticks Notebook Deity
Does anyone know when this is coming out?
-
*makes plans to send "I told you so" PMs to everyone who said nothing would change after the Voodoo purchase*
Seriously, though, that's one wicked notebook. I'd never buy one because I'd prefer something more portable, but it's awesome none-the-less. -
It's coming out Julyish.
-
Sneaky_Chopsticks Notebook Deity
Ah, ok, and this laptop will be awesome!
-
it will have a 8800 card equiped

To me, having a really great GPU that maybe wouldn't work in a 17" model would be the big benefit to this. Otherwise, personally I'd rather have a 17" (or 15") and use an external monitor.
Hopefully it won't be a repeat of Dell's strange situation where the 20" model is lower end than the 17" model, and costs more! -

Well, considering VooDoo PC's people were in on this deal...I'm excited even though there is no way I could purchase this thing. I wanna see what it can do.
-
Disappointed. where is Blu-ray and NVIDIA??
-
-
For HD DVD, I have seen HP, Toshiba, and Acer. -
If I was going to buy one drive or the other, I wouldn't feel very worried about getting a Blu Ray drive, whereas I'd expect an HD-DVD drive to become basically worthless. -
-
About who's side you're on, it's a matter of personal opinion. Most of companies backed both formats. For me, it's obviously BD -

When is this puppy coming out??
HP HDX gaming laptop, check it out!!!
