Yes, they surely has some issues with so many orders.. I got mine HDX16(in the signature) for 1270$ total, I got extremely lucky, that's for sure!
Now the coupon is not any more avaiable(at least for HDX as far as I know).
But there are more coupons comming, don't rush yourself if you want this machine, just wait 1 or 2 weeks, it's not a big deal.
If someone read the HDX18 preview here, it says 9600GT DDR3(!), but not ddr2 wich, if true will be awesome!I'm waiting my order shipped and than let you know(if someone else won't do this before me)

I don't think the HDX16 will be GDDR3, from some of the reviews ive heard the 16 uses GDDR2, but that's all coming from the pc mark scores.
-
-
Why the same GPU? Because if they are not same, this will be totally out of sence. One is for sure, most of the ppl will prefer the 16'' version, since it's fully loaded and still compact. The 18" is closer to the HDX, which is not compact(I got nothing against the HDX, don't misunderstand me)
Also, first of all it was awefull from HP's side not to use GDDR3 in the DV5t and DV7t.. If they repeat this in the HDX16 the success won't be big.. Since they even need to use better GPU at least for the HDX18.. Because looks like the HDX16 stays with 9600GT. We all know how big is the performance difference between the 9600M GT, 9700M GT, 9800M GT etc. higher, but the price tag is quite close -
I sent my dv5t back and ordered the HDX16. I have a ship date of September 29. With the dv5t the ship date meant the date the laptop was actually received. Has anyone received the HDX16 yet?

Sorry, I have to ask, eventhough I read the complete thread.
On the homepage the resolution of th HDX 16 is 1366x768 but there are people who ordered a HDX with higher resolution.
So what is it now?
http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cto.do
Then there are a lot of reviews where the HDX 16 has higher resolution.
http://blog.laptopmag.com/hps-new-hdx-16-and-18-video-and-full-review
I hope there is an option for the high resolution.
Can somebody explain to me what this is all about? -
I'm actually upset that the HDX16 was released almost immediately after I ordered my DV7T with the $500 coupon. I thought about changing my order, but by then it was too late and I wasn't able to customize it how I wanted.
I still have 21 days to return my DV7T after I receive it, so if they release another $500 or 30% coupon and they have more options on it I might buy one. -
Hm, that could be a reason.
In Europe there are some online shops that are advertising the HDX 16 with high resolution. I hope they are right about what they are offering. -

I have good news and bad news...
Good news is the 1920x1080p resolution is back!
BAD NEWS IS it cost 125$!!! F***!! That's 100$ more than originally.
Did any of you who ordered early get it for the same price at 25$? Or did they call you back? -
Wow, that's crazy! I wonder what caused the sudden price jump. I think it was probably a mistake when it was listed at $25, because I can't imagine anyone would even get the lower resolution screen with such a small price difference. Or maybe it was just a special intro-price for the first week it was released.
-
-
yes, someone made a mistake... offering 1080p for 25$ only
anyway i am waiting for HDX18 to appear on web...
i am hoping for new 30% deal, because if you are buying laptop that's over 2.000$... it is the best deal
i'll be getting HDX18 or HDX16 in the end...
last few weeks i was just browsing... HP,Dell,Sony,Toshiba,Gateway
i am a multimedia user, not hardcore gamer... and having that in mind i think going with HP is the best choice...
hoping for that 30% deal before December 19th -
Once you get above $1,667, the 30% off coupon is a better deal than the $500-off. So for the HDX16 & HDX18 the 30% coupon will almost always give you a lower price, because once you add just a few upgrades you are past that price point (and I think the HDX18 is probably going to start above that price). I'm sure they will release another 30% off deal sometime in the next few months because of the holidays.

I am waiting for HDX16 in the Australia.
We probably don't have such great deal here, but I am interested in where/how could you get those 30% or $500 coupons? -
Well... we don't have that either in ..... We don't have almost nothing here... But we all have in USA
So I'll buy my laptop there, of course not me.... my brother will... -
Zod I would take the time to call them as soon as possible...I ordered the dv7t with the $500 off coupon and called in to cancel it, they asked for reason of cancellation I told them I wanted the hdx16 instead and they offered me and additional $60 off to keep the dv7t, but I declined, they then asked if I wanted to order the HDX16 through them but they would transfer me to sales as they didnt have all the info in there computers yet (It was the return/exchange department) but I was in a hurry and said I'd just do it online, but she did say I could reuse the coupon as long as it was over $1399.....
call them, they will usually work with you.
I also was lucky I guess to get the $500 off hdx16 and pay only $25 more for the 1080p screen, but now they have different wireless cards, I'm gonna be pissed if HP starts offering the extra capacity battery and a blu-ray burner I've been hearing about, I'd give it a week or two and I'm sure the options will change around.....I'm just confused why they are now going with the mini-wireless cards if they are better or what not or just ran out of the older ones and got a deal on these or something??? with HP you never know. Glad I live in San Jose so if they screw me over I can go to 1 of the corporate offices...hahahhaha -
You guys gave the best advises. Thanks. I have been taken so many times before, paying hundreds of $ above the best deals, in a matter of days.
-
I just saw this morning, that my HDX16t SHIPPED TODAY!!! (from China, of course), Probably won't see it for about 5 days while it travels around the world!
-
I would've love to own one of these beast but 16's and 18's are just pushing it in terms of size for me. I'm a small guy and 15' and below will do. I love my dv5t especially for the price and performance.
-
I will wait for the 30% coupon before Christmas.
-
Edit: seems like my order has been declined... but when i check on the actual page it says my order will be ready by 09/29/08. Hmm... i should call them in.
Edit again: Well i just refreshed my order again and it says its processed and will be shipped on the 29th...lol. -

i was about to order he hdx16t but for what ever reason, the day before i was going to commit to buying, they removed the 4gb ddr2 and the 1920x1080 screen option. anyone know why they dropped these options only a few days after release?
-
-
argh, i had a funny feeling that the 1080p for $25 was too good to be true. so essentially the coupon + price mistake made for a 600 off 1500 deal. bah. now i'm having some nonbuyer's remorse.
-
I won't be buying anytime soon unless a good coupon comes up that compensates for the 500$ and the extra 100$ that we have to pay now for the 1080p resolution. -
-
-
Glad I got two at that price! $1599 down to $949 (used Fatwallet for another $50)!!! -
-
1080p screens are available again, but still no 4GB RAM.
-
-
I noticed they changed the wireless cards? Whats the deal with that.
When I ordered the only option was the Intel 5100AGN (which I've heard is ****). Will be interesting to see which wireless card gets shipped with the HDX16. -
It seems to be the same wireless card. In the "help me choose" link, the next gen card is labeled as 5100AGN
-
I ordered mine the first day it was abaiable, that day there were the 4gb and the 1080p screen. Whats more, the starting price was ~100$ less than now because the 1080P was 25 but not 125$!
But my crappy bank did the transfer of the money, and on the second day of the order somehow refused the same transfer.. So everything gone messed up, after days of contacting HP support, already today I did a new order, same config(just the wifi is "new genn", same $$) for 100$ more.
@uwontprevail How did you get the 350gb HDD option? One of the things that miss me is the 7200rpm option, but the HDDs are cheap and easy upgradeable in the upcomming future.
-
I can't believe I'm sayin this- but I'm glad I bought mine when I did.
I remember the price mistake happening one other time- when I was buying airline tickets, and a trip from NYC to Florida was $29!! It was supposed to be $299, but by the time they realized it, already 500 people had ordered their tickets already.
I can't tell you how many times I hit myself for not getting that deal.... -
niki b I just saw on your sig you put ddr3 are you sure????
-
I had a question-
Does anyone know if the HDX16 includes support for WiMAX networks- or do we have to wait for an upgrade for that capability? -
thats just my theory, maybe they just messed up big time since (pre removing the options) a fully loaded dv7t was 2500 while a fully loaded hdx16t was 1700. -
I ordered one on 19th sep with $500 off and 1080p available (lucky
) n the estimated ship date is on 30th sep.
