I was emailed that my HDX 16t shipped today originally scheduled for a Jan 9th production date. No word yet on my HDX 18t yet.

Is the Hp HDX16 GPU DDR3?
-
No, it is DDR2

Hey everyone. I'm interested in this laptop. I just need to find out what the weight is with a 6 cell battery. Also, how long is battery life with the 6 cell surfing the net and typing on Word?
I'm sure the answer is here somewhere, but I couldn't get to it using the search function. It just wouldn't take me to that page, just to the first and or last page.
Thanks. -
At 50% brightness surfing the web, I manage just under 2 hours... which isn't that good lol. I do have a T series proc (35W), a P series (25W) should help battery life a bit. Weighs about 7 pounds.
-
Any suggestions on backpacks that fit it? -
I don't use a backpack, but I do use this because I can also slip in my Zalman NC2000 cooler.
-
I plug my HDX 16 into my HDMI TV all the time to watch blu-ray movies on a big screen. and it works very well with no flicker at all. make sure your settings all for the full processor to work (plug it into the wall and adjust power settings). make sure you have a good HDMI cord, and that you set it up with dual screens that are not the same resolution(or are if you have the 1080p screen)
for battery life: I got the 12-cell and it helps a lot, for surfing the web i get around 5-6 hours of battery life, and it does not weight that much more than the 6-cell battery.
I carry mine around with a backpack: ( http://shop1.frys.com/product/5257127)
hopefully that helps with most of the questions running around...
btw: anyone know any better blu-ray watching software? the only one i can find to work is the standard HP one that came with my HDX 16, but there has to be a better program cause it works but... there has to be better. -
The P9500 processor is no longer available for some reason. That's the one with the 6MB of cache.
-
The T9400 2.53GHz also has 6mb cache.....
-
yes at 35W though
-
I also ordered mine with the 30% coupon and my laptop just got shipped today so check yours too. Im hoping since all of us ordered on same day mabey they ran out of stuff and will have to give us a free upgrade.
-
2) Also received shipping notification today. Hopefully they upgrade it, I wanted it for this weekend. I'm not gonna hold my breath -
-
Hey guys. I've had mine for a few months now and I love it. My major

Hei guys, with battery model (12 cell) fits into the HDX16?
I'm looking for one, but I couldn't find yet. -
Looks like PCMAG just dethroned the HP HDX16t as it's favorite 16" multimedia portable. The new winner, according to a review posted today, is the brand new Dell XPS 16.
Specs look nice...especially the 16" RGB LED backlit panel!
I think that is where HP really blew it...should have used LED backlit screens. They do rock!
PC Mag mini review of XPS 16 -
I have not recieved my HDX16 yet(still shipping...)but I'm not second guessing my decision to not buy the dell. I don't care for the looks and the leather front, and it does not have a full keyboard. Also look at the performance scores under the full review by PC MAG listed above by lancorp, the HDX took 1st place in 6 out of the 14 tests and the dell took 2.....

I received my laptop today! loving it so far! (although, still getting used to the small text on the 1080p screen.) I'll post more once I have more time with it!
-
Congrats! glad to hear you got it. Looks like you got it a day ahead of schedule.Any problems so far. Mine just left AK, shows approx delivery on the 12th. Hopefully they will speed mine up a bit....
-
If yours just left AK, there's a good chance it'll come on Friday. Hope that happens! NO problems so far. There was a little heating problem, but the undervolting I'm doing on it now is working marvelously! So far my biggest gripe is how small some of the text gets to be, but I'll get used to that in time. I love everything else about the laptop, now I just need to tweak the machine as much as I have tweaked my current computer! (and, I still need to finish installing programs).
-
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in this thread that u can adjust the text and icon size....do a search for it. As of 12:44am its at this point....Int'l shipment release INDIANAPOLIS, IN
-
I did the undervolt today my laptop is running in high performance [email protected]. Unbelievable....
I'm really delighted...
So does anyone knows about the 12cell battery for the HDX16?
Ps: I have an issue, since I re-installed my system when it is in the battery mode the battery icon never shows the time remaining, does anyone knows how to fix this? -
Hey how do you guys undervolt your laptop. I will be doing this as well when i get mine just need to know how. Mine is in transit from INDIANAPOLIS on jan 9 at 3:09 AM. So i should be getting it monday cant waitttt.
-
Easy to follow, worked great! -
hmmm asking again as no one seems to have read my post (maybe i used invisible ink

tequilaguy:
that link for your configuration does not work.
seems like battery life is around 2-3 hours with the 6 cell and around 4-6 hours with the 12 cell. while looking on this forum ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=263039) i found the standard temperatures for a notebook.
hopefully that fixes things up a bit -
Guys please which model of 12 cell battery should I buy for the HDX16?
-
Hey guys, I've been lurking on these forums for a while, but decided to register after buying a HDX16t earlier today.
I have a few questions though. I have a NZXT Cryo notebook cooler, but I read the undervolting guide posted here and decided to try and utilize both to ensure my new laptop runs as coolly and smoothly as possible. My question is wouldn't the voltage settings be the same for all HDX16Ts? If so would someone mind posting them? I ordered the Intel P8400 processor.
Secondly, I've been looking at some laptop sleeves to protect my pricey new toy, and I've basically settled for the Zeroshock III notebook sleeve. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=302364 Will the 15.4 inch option fit this laptop? Or should I just get the 17 inch sleeve?
Thanks a bunch in advance! And nice to meet you all. -
In response to the undervolting question: the reason why processors aren't pre-configured at undervolted rates is that every processor is different. Unfortunately, this means you'll have to go through the whole process yourself (I'm still working on lower multipliers). So far, I'm getting great results! (more than .2v change on the max multiplier, and at .2 so far for the 4th).
For the sleeve, some larger 15.4 sleeves may work, but it's really a gamble. If you do find one though, that'll make the better fit! -
hey guys is anyone noticing problems with the wireless card in the hdx16? i just setup wireless internet in my new place and when i connect wirelessly i only get about a third of the full download speed compared to connecting with ethernet. i know that wireless is weaker but going down from 7mbs to 2mb/s is too large a difference right?
-
You may want to check your network. It may not be capable of higher speeds. I recently had to replace my network router because of similar problems. I'm getting full speed on mine.
-
FLICKERING BRIGHTNESS PROBLEM. dude i have the same problem too. my computer just arrived recently too and im pissed. i called them and theyre like try installing the vista again, so in the process right now. hope it fixes this brightness problem. i dont wanna have to send it back for repairs

Hey do you guys know if FedEx delivers on Saturdays. My laptop is very close to my home and the status now is "at dest sort facility" at 4:58AM. The estimated delivery isnt until monday but if i wanted to i could go drive and get it because it is so close. What to you guys think, will i get it today
-
I know hp asks residential or business address when you place an order, so it they might use FEDEX HOME service! -
-
My HDX 16 was scheduled for delivery on the 9th. It was delivered on the 8th. Too bad I was in NY, but I did have a signed note to have my neighbor sign for it. I got home last night and all I can say is WOW!!! My HDX 18 is in NJ and I just got off the phone with FEDEX. It is scheduled for delivery on the 13th. I hope and pray it shows up on Monday and is in great shape like the HDX 16.
When I have both I will write a quick review. -
EDIT: oops, wrong thread
-
looks like you guys are one click ahead of me. I was hoping to get out of work this am and drive to the fedex hub to pick it up but it is still in transit from Indy. I guess it's the storm we r getting tonight coming from the west but it feels like "a slow boat from China"(literally) when i hear everyone else getting there book ahead of schedule.
-
I with you Kramer. Mine's has been in Tampa, FL since 10pm last night. I'm an hour away. So close. Can't wait.
-
I just got my HDX16 as well. I'm loving it. I did a clean wipe with a retail vista disc, and then installed my drivers and what not. Was a little confusing because of the half arsed way the label the drivers in teh swsetup folder.
i have all of the drivers installed, but i really would like to get these soft touch buttons working again. mute work, but doesnt turn orange when its disabled. volume also works. and so does the media player buttons.
However, the little triangle (eject button?) does nothing, and the bass treble also does nothing.
I installed the QLB from the swsetup folder, and also directly downloaded from HP and still nothing.
I'd really appreciate some help, as this is about all i need to have it 100% how i want it. -
Hey guys, I see my previous post got cut off. I have had my system for a few months now. I love it, but am having problems with docking and external peripherals (is that redundant?), especially my 22in external monitor (Acer H213H). Has anyone had success with driving both the laptop screen and an external HDMI monitor at 1920x1080? Both are set at that resolution, but my external monitor picture does not fill the whole screen. There is a 1/2in to 1in black area around the 1920x1080 picture. If I change it to a lower resolution, then funky things happen on the laptop monitor (like it gets a black border around the wallpaper image).
Acer says that it is a "configuration" problem, although they don't even have a supported driver for the monitor on their site (last time I checked!) HP says it is the monitor, Catch 22. Any ideas? -
What did you try and change on the HDX video card? -
just got my hp hdx 16t and im loving it. so far i havent discovered anything wrong with it but i havent handeled it much. the sound to me is amazing. I am coming from a dell inspiron 1501 so this is a big improvement. I will post more of what i think later on. love this laptop

Hi all, I bought an HDX16T on the BF special and got a phenomenal deal. Very happy with all about the laptop except the weight (especially after comparing it to a Dell XPS M1530, on both counts).
I bought it with the 12 cell battery, which gives me about 3 hours of regular (web-browsing, DVD ripping&burning, file transferring, etc) use, but is very heavy and terribly positioned. If all that weight weren't at the complete opposite side of the laptop from where I usually lift it - providing for a tremendous amount of leverage and torque required to hold it - it would probably be fine.
I'm interested in picking up a 6 cell battery in the hopes that it'll be significantly lighter and to get rid of that nasty bump in the back. I noticed that on HP's sales page, they list the 6 cell battery as compatible with the HDX16T and the DV4 (among others). Since I couldn't find any batteries for the HDX16 on ebay, I looked for DV4 batteries. There are plenty (mostly knockoff batteries from China), but none of them list compatibility with the HDX16. The images they show LOOK like they will work, but I want to make sure. Here's an example:
Ebay Link
Also, its curious that some are 47 W-Hr and some are 55 W-Hr. Obviously I would be going for the 55, but are they really the same size?
Also, is the 6 cell battery flush with the bottom of the laptop? I'm hoping to get rid of that nasty bump that digs into my leg as it sits there for a couple hours.
Thanks all -
Did you install the 'media smart' software? -
Seems like HP and FedEx have been busy.
