To those that have received their babydragon, does it come with a protective sleeve of sorts? I read a review that listed a "sleeve" in the contents. Considering its size, and that there arent any cases/sleeves available for it yet, it makes sense, but i havent seen it listed anywhere else.

Targus has 2 traditional cases that will work:
Model TLE400 - Leather - slightly more protective of the laptop case than the TXL417
Model TXL417 - Ballistic Nylon
and a backpack that I have not seen, but should work:
Model TXL617
It will fit in the roller version, model TXL717, but there are reported issues with the handle and the bottom causes pressure points due to the handle hardware.
By the way, do not believe Ebags configurator. I had 2 no-fits on bags that their site indicated would work!
Sony 18.4 AW now, waiting to get the HDX-18T when I can get a quad! (Software developer - I need the power when testing multi tiered applications.) -

Check out Page 68. This manual is complements of user "2.0" over in the HDX forums, btw... -

Since my new HDX18t has a cloned image of my HDX16t on it, I think I have a problem with the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
Can anyone with an HDX18t confirm whether or not that software was HP stock installed? I may have stuck it on there, I don't remember.
Thanks. -
I have mine, I'll let you know what I find as soon as I manage to get my keyboard fixed -
Success! I fixed my keyboard. I just had to reseat the keyboard's ZIF connector, which I thought I broke at one point lol.
It was a very nerve-racking experience, and the biggest scare was when I dropped a screw down into its innards. Got the screw out, eventually got it all back together, and now I'm actually playing with it. Yay!
About the matrix storage manager, I haven't actually run the system on the included hard drive, so I don't know about that. I'm jsut installing everything from the SWSetup\Drivers folder. -
This said, now that it's -working- *ahems* can I interest you in booting up off of that live cd you have there on your desk ? pretty please ? cat /proc/cpuinfo .. I am -dying- to know
My K|N quad will be here tonight or tomorrow.. I know I -could- wait but.. yeah. I can't *laughs* inquiring minds want to know
(again btw, excellent news on fixing your new lappy)
-
Congrats fixing your keyboard PDX!

Hmm, did they just increase the price again. It's at $1499 base price before$200 off. You don't get the free 3GB ram but it is now free 320GB HD upgrade.
-
Can of you guys comment on battery life?
-
I'm typing this on my new HDX actually, so here's proof I fixed it: sssSSS22@xxxx! lol. the keys work!

I don't know much about the different types these days, so maybe you can tell me a little more about anything that stands out. -
thank you SO much pdx-alpha
So, hopefully that live cd doesn't boot with apic enabled, because the cpu has the apic flag but no apicid. I had also thought that they [intel] may have slipped in SSE4.2 but.. alas .. no. Other than that, it's all looking nice
The number of cores being automatically recognised is -VERY- relaxing (otherwise the quad arriving tomorrow would have been a 'dual' under linux ..bleurgh). Speed/bogomips appear correct for 2.5ghz ..
That thing will -scream-Kudos pdx-alpha again on getting it fixed.. now hopefully I can totally convert you over to linux.. get that nasty windows off of your new baby ;p
that's.. going to do some pretty mean rendering speeds *drooools* -
What's the battery life of this sucker under normal conditions (60% brightness, wifi on, word docs.... )

Now, for an update on the hard drive bracket situation!
I called sparepartswarehouse.com, and they couldn't find a part number, so I called the HP parts hotline. I had already looked on PartSurfer & HP Parts Store for the bracket, so I was pretty sure it wasn't there.
I got routed to tech support, and once he had all of my computer info, he informed me that there's a "special" number for HDX support - it's nice to know that we get dedicated support
Not only is it dedicated support, but it's in the U.S. -- no offense to foreign phone workers, but it was much easier. The guy actually cared about my situation. I was able to explain the part and exactly what I was trying to do, and instead of giving me the "we don't provide those parts," or "we don't support {blah blah}," he said he's going to talk to the higher-ups for me and call back tomorrow! Personally!
Even if we can't get a part number, we might be able to get the parts directly from them.
I didn't call the number myself, but I was told by a different tech support person that the HDX support hotline number is:
1-866-408-5408.
Please don't call about the bracket, because they only see exactly what we do on the parts website. I'll let everyone know as soon as I hear back from them.
I must say this was my first positive phone experience with HP, aside from it taking an hour to get to the right people.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
They basically are FORCING you to pay for the 320GIG harddrive because the option comes with 250GIG by default with a FREE upgrade to 320GIG.
It's not FREE, they are forcing you to choose it! -
i wanted this also

I have the HDX 18t, but I'm having a problem with the HDMI output. When I try to hook it up to my HDTV, I don't get an image and the computer doesn't realize there's a second display attached. The VGA connection works fine. I've tested the HDMI cable.
When I contacted HP's technical support, the person I talked to said that I need to buy the optional TV tuner card to be able to use my HDMI output. This seems ludicrous to me. Has anyone else successfully used the HDMI port without having the optional TV tuner? -
That sounds absolutely ridiculous. I'm guessing they have no clue what they are talking about. There are tons of laptops that come with HDMI without any sort of TV Tuner.
I'm hoping I am right on this...
Please tell me that you don't need a TV Tuner just to output to your TV? -

So then, we've established that I should be able to use my HDMI port to output to an HDTV. I'm trying to output to an HP Pavilion DLP HDTV with 1080P capabilities. I know that my HDMI cable is good, but when I plug it in, the HDTV stays blank. If it's plugged in I see a TV symbol instead of a monitor symbol when I press fn + F4, but the TV stays blank and when I go into the NVIDIA control panel it only shows one display, even when I use the Rigorous Display Detection button. I've also tried lowering my computer's resolution, but that didn't help either.
As HP's support is no help, do you guys have any ideas? -

I'm so happy you got it fixed! What an odd thing to have happen! -
Just for the record, and in case anyone was sitting on the fence about it, my extra HDX18t Quad core is sold.
Wish I had bought 3 or 4 of them! -
Anyone done a Windows Experience Index on their HDX18t? I get really high scores (upgraded HD and 8GB RAM plus QUAD) on everything but the 9600m GT.
I cloned my HDX16t drive to my HDX18t, and my '16t had a 5.1 for Windows Desktop Graphics. On my '18t, it 4.8!!! How could it go DOWN????
What are others WEI scores?
Thanks. -

I did disconnect the VGA before trying the HDMI. I'm going to call support again (hoping for a more knowledgeable person) and then try reinstalling my video card driver if that doesn't work.

How about this link. Second from top it says '$349.... 20% MSn cashback'. Well, yesterday it was $500.
http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=hp&form=QBLH -
it gave me a good idea of where to look for some screws, but was otherwise pretty different.
I figured it out quickly, but I spent a lot of time being careful lol.
To answer your WEI question - what resolution is your 16t? If it's not 1080p, then it'll be different. I just ran mine and got 4.8 as well, same as on the dv7t.
Also got 5.9 for HDD, Processor, Memory. 5.3 for "Gaming Graphics". -
No bigger though. I know things aren't exactly peachy between the 2 of us so no problem. -
This is what bothers me about technology. Why can't things just work...
I wonder if HP even TRIED to use the HDMI to output to a 1080p TV? -
-
I just spoke with a different HP tech and they also said I need a TV tuner card to use my HDMI port. I'm starting to get worried that they might be right, which is complete B.S.
-
-
-
Exactly, do me a favor and DONT tell them you are connecting to a TV...
Tell them you are connecting to an external 24" monitor that has HDMI input and it doesn't work...
When you say "TV" it gives them an easy excuse.... -
How about one of you with an 18T hook up an external HDMI display and report back?
-
Is there anyone here with an 18t and also has an HP 17" widescreen laptop?
It doesn't matter what model, I would be interested to know if the 18.4" looks THAT much bigger than the 17"?
If it doesn't look all that much bigger, I may just go to Best Buy and pickup one of these 17" and be done with it, I have no patience!!! -
I have a 17" widescreen laptop. The HDX18 is no taller (it might even be a few millimeters shorter). But it's significantly wider so it feels much bigger. Also, when you're viewing DVD's or HDTV, the HDX18 is 16:9 (instead of 16:10 like most laptops) so in that case you end up with a significantly larger image and no black bars.

As I wait, prices were suppose to come down as the holidays get closer but they just went up $100 today! Crazy....
Guess I won't be getting the quad core, not only is it too expensive for me but it's just not even available!!
